How to choose tomatoes

1. Tomatoes taste best in summer, so they should be picked in summer.

2. Observe the surface of tomatoes carefully. Most ripe tomatoes are bright red, but in hot weather, ripe tomatoes may be orange. Different kinds of tomatoes have different colors when they are ripe. Tomatoes will ripen into red, orange, yellow, pink and purple. Check the color of the bottom of the tomato you choose, because this is where the tomato begins to ripen.

3. Perceive the hardness of tomatoes. When you gently squeeze the newly ripe tomatoes, you should feel them a little hard. Hard tomatoes need extra time to ripen. If the tomato is soft, it usually means that the area will be bruised and the tomato may rot.

4. Measure the weight of tomatoes by hand. Tomatoes that are too light indicate that they are not ripe enough, while heavy and thick tomatoes are usually ripe and can be picked and eaten.
