Talk about field test drive

I'm a civil aviation pilot, Tesla model? The owner of S, who picked up the car in August 20 17, has been two and a half years, and should also belong to a group of owners who came into contact with pure electric vehicles earlier. I have tested all the cars on sale in Tesla, from Model? X to model? 3, it can be regarded as an in-depth understanding and comprehensive understanding of Tesla. I am very glad to be selected to participate in the deep test drive of Weilai ES6 this time.

I'm a stranger to Weilai ES6. It was not until the official launch of ES6 that I went to Weilai Exhibition Hall of Oriental Plaza to see the real car for the first time. To be honest, I didn't feel very excited when I first saw this car. Of course, the main reason is that I personally don't like SUV models, and secondly, I don't have a general understanding of this car, which is a strange brand.

Apply for a test drive this time. In fact, I want to drive for four days in Weilai ES6 (hereinafter referred to as ES6) to experience my Tesla model from all aspects. S (hereinafter referred to as S) and their respective advantages and disadvantages, let's see if a domestic emerging car company like Weilai can give me some surprises.

I just got on the ES6 car, and the interior workmanship of the whole car gave me a much better feeling than Tesla, which is inevitable. Many netizens ridiculed Tesla for "driving 800,000 cars and using 200,000 car interiors". I can't deny that. I think the interior workmanship of Weilai ES6 is still exquisite and luxurious.

In terms of materials, at least the places I can touch are basically wrapped in leather, most of which are soft and the stitches are meticulous.

In the central control area, the handle of ES6 is also very design-oriented. By shifting gears back and forth, it is very fresh. The surrounding decorative strips are well integrated into the middle armrest area, and the letters under the metal frame are very design-oriented.

However, I personally feel that Tesla's shoulder block still has some advantages in convenience. Although the workmanship is average, it is more convenient in some scenes because it is closer to the hand. For example, when moving back and forth in a narrow space, shifting gears is faster.

The functionality and car-machine interaction of the whole ES6 reminds me of a sentence written by the author when watching the evaluation of mobile phones, which probably means that domestic smartphone manufacturers want to give users all the functions, whether you want it or not, I just want to give it to you, very real; I gave the iPhone to the user, and you use it, which is very overbearing.

ES6, like many domestic smartphone manufacturers, is really fully functional. Except for the agreed NIO? Besides Pilot and OTA, what other practical functions are there, such as HUD, steep descent, seat ventilation, seat massage and 360 panoramic image? A kick-off electric tailgate, NOMI voice assistant, multi-color adjustable atmosphere lights, car fragrance and even a panoramic selfie camera in the car are all available, which really makes people feel that this car is really full of functions.

Maybe I don't really need some functions, but the functions I need are definitely covered by this car, such as the panoramic camera in the car. Personally, I don't value it very much, but it is a very interesting function for home users who often travel with the whole family.

On the other hand, S is more like an apple. What functions does it choose for me, such as powerful automatic driving, sentry anti-theft mode, frequent OTA and so on. I can only use what it gives me. The experience of these existing functions is really excellent, but many users expect HUD, better localization, 360 panoramic images and so on. Sorry, no.

Of course, no one is perfect, and so are cars. ES6 has given a lot of information, but there is still room for improvement in some details.

The first is the dashboard of this car.

ES6 put a screen directly in front of you. I don't know if it's to prevent glare. The theme color of the whole instrument panel and central control panel is dark, instead of Tesla's central control panel changing the light and dark mode according to sunrise and sunset time.

Although I can feel that the brightness of this LCD dashboard will be adjusted according to the brightness of external light, in some cases, the screen will still be unclear, especially the central control panel is dark all the year round, and the map of the main interface can not be seen clearly during the day. Fortunately, there is a HUD, but the information on the dashboard has actually become secondary.

The second is a 360 panoramic image.

Personally, I am looking forward to this function. After all, Tesla didn't. But the first time I opened this panoramic view and poured it into the parking space, I felt that the picture was a bit abstract, and the images of the surrounding vehicles were stretched so badly that I couldn't judge the distance between the vehicles for a while. It takes some time to get used to it.

The third is the details displayed on the dashboard.

S When the speed is low or there are many vehicles around, the pattern of vehicles in the center of the instrument panel will enlarge the distance between the surrounding vehicles and obstacles, while at high speed, the pattern of vehicles will be reduced to show more vehicles around, which is very helpful for judging the driving state.

Judging from the extension of the dashboard, S is very detailed in autonomous driving. The dashboard shows that every car detected is very vivid. You can see SUVs, cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles and so on.

ES6 is not so detailed, I think this is the embodiment of the details, not only the display screen, but also the dotted line on the road, the ice cream cone, and even the signal lights and road signs.

ES6, on the other hand, is not so rich, and some routes are not so accurate under strong light.

Of course, in addition to the above, I think the automatic driving of ES6, NP, has been done very well, with high availability, smooth following, no sudden braking, and smooth operation and progress of automatic lane change, which is very reassuring. I am also proud to see that China car companies can do this.

In addition to the above points, I think there is room for improvement, and there are several places in ES6 that impress me. In my opinion, these are the functions that can really improve the happiness of car owners.

The first thing is the voice assistant of this car.

ES6' s voice assistant is Naomi, a particularly conspicuous little thing on the dashboard. You can understand it as a car butler. Its screen is very small, which makes NOMI look like a cute little guy with various expressions. What's even more surprising is that it can turn, and it will turn to you as soon as I get on the bus.

There is a circle of speakers around NOMI. Later, it was found that this speaker was specially installed for NOMI. All NOMI's replies will be transmitted through this speaker, so as not to occupy the sound of the whole car and play other media. It is very detailed.

In contrast, voice can be said to be Tesla's weakness.

Although Tesla recently pushed an update to enhance the intelligence of voice commands, I still think NOMI is smarter and more accurate in recognition, even including orientation recognition by using cars these days.

For example, the passenger sitting in the back seat of the car called NOMI to open the window, and NOMI would accurately open the window next to the voice director, which surprised me. Usability is much better than Tesla's voice assistant.

The old car owner who had seen ES6 before teased NOMI, saying that it would suddenly talk by itself in the middle of the night, and even scared the security guards patrolling in the middle of the night. What I saw today is really a lively voice assistant.

In the driving experience, the most impressive thing about the whole ES6 is comfort.

ES6 and model? S adopts air suspension, but the air suspension of ES6 is very adjustable, which can be adjusted to low gear, standard gear and high gear. However, when the speed is higher than 30KM/H, it will automatically drop to the standard. It should be to reduce the wind resistance to improve the endurance and lower the center of gravity to improve the maneuverability.

Three options of adjustable suspension can meet my different driving needs. It is inevitable for my S to mop the bottom and wipe the chassis every day, but ES6 won't.

The ES6 also offers three driving options: comfort, energy saving and sports. I usually set it in comfort mode. Driving gives me the feeling that the chassis of the ES6 is not as whole as that of the S. After all, it is a tall and spacious SUV, but it brings a more comfortable ride.

In terms of corners, I also opened several large slab bridges and some ramps with large exit angles. The lateral support of ES6 is a little soft, and it will tilt a little at high speed, which should be the necessity of ES6' s comfortable orientation.

Let's talk about the pedal of ES6. The brakes of the ES6 are also a little soft. There is a small gap at the front end of the braking stroke, so every time I want to slow down, I need to step deeper (but I am used to restoring the habit of driving with one pedal with maximum kinetic energy, which saves braking and electricity), but I still have to feel it when I test drive.

The accelerator pedal of ES6 is also easy to step on, and it goes down a little bit, while S is a little tight. For me, I still like S's foot feeling relatively, probably because I have been used to the orientation of eccentric movement for a long time.

This ES6 is equipped with 20-inch wheels. Even with such a large wheel hub, the car will not feel too strong and travel very smoothly.

My S is equipped with original 2 1 inch spider wheels, which makes the vehicle look more dynamic, but at the expense of comfort and endurance. The thin sidewall of 2 1 inch makes every pebble on the road feel.

Of course, even if the original 19 inch wheel hub is used, it seems to me that S is not as comfortable as ES6.

In addition, the sound insulation of ES6 is excellent, and the tire noise is not very loud. Even when I was driving on 120, the noise in the whole car was not very loud.

And my S, because of the frameless door, the sound insulation effect of the whole vehicle is not very good. If you talk with a loudspeaker in the car, you can hear it outside, let alone listen to music every time, just like a walking stereo.

Of course, we should not only consider the comfort of riding, but also mention some places that make drivers feel "comfortable". In these respects, ES6 is much better than S.

The first is HUD (Head-up Display).

This is a function that I like very much. I used to drive a Cadillac with a HUD. Many people think that this function is unnecessary, but in my opinion, the HUD of electric vehicles is a very comfortable configuration for drivers.

As we all know, due to the different working principles of motor and internal combustion engine, electric vehicles start from complete standstill very quickly. This ES6 takes only 4.6 seconds in the 0- 100 km/h sports mode. You know this is a very big and heavy SUV, so since I started driving an electric car, I need to always pay attention to my speedometer, because I may accidentally overspeed, and the penalty for speeding is not light.

In the process of driving the ES6, HUD has given me great convenience, and I no longer need to glance at my speed out of the corner of my eye. HUD makes my speed clear at a glance, and I can master my own speed well, but all Tesla cars don't have this configuration, which makes me feel very sorry.

Another configuration that makes drivers feel comfortable is blind spot monitoring.

I don't remember which version of S's blind spot monitoring was added when it was upgraded, but S's blind spot monitoring made me feel a little chicken ribs.

Its display screen is on the dashboard. When you change lanes, when there are blind spots on both sides of the car, in addition to the sound prompt, it just shows that both sides of the back of your car are red. Imagine, who will look at the dashboard when changing lanes?

ES6 is prompted by the yellow warning light on the exterior rearview mirror, and its advantages are clear at a glance.

In terms of early warning, I think there is a small detail in ES6, and the sound will come from the location where your vehicle is about to collide. For example, if you have a car or an obstacle on the right rear side, when you approach, the right rear side of the car will sound an alarm and the steering wheel will vibrate. I think it's really sweet. Weilai's efforts in these small details can really enhance the car experience of car owners.

The co-pilot is as comfortable as the Queen's co-pilot of ES6.

There is a pedal below the front of the co-pilot. When you press the button on the queen's co-pilot, the pedal will fall off and the seat will start to lean back until it reaches the back seat. From the feet to the calves to the whole body, it can be well supported, just like the feeling of first class. It is really comfortable to sit up.

Moreover, it is convenient for the co-pilot to take care of the children in the back row at any time, and the design concept is very humanized and practical.

Generally speaking, sports and driving pleasure are not the strengths of ES6. In my opinion, the comfort of ES6 is far stronger than its sportiness. The ES6 is a very comfortable car, while the S is more like a coupe. From the point of view of home, commuting and comfort, ES6 has accurate positioning.

Finally, let's talk about the battery life and charging of this car, which is also the top priority for many consumers holding indicators and queuing indicators to wait and see electric vehicles.

The test drive of ES6 I is a 70-degree battery, and the S is 75 degrees, with little difference. Through my test drive these days, although I didn't run completely, the larger and heavier ES6 consumes almost as much electricity as my S when I go to work with air conditioning on in normal urban areas. It is very good that such a big car can do this, you know, it can last for a long time.

In terms of open source, ES6 gives a set of methods to change many car factories-changing electricity. In this test drive, I was lucky enough to experience a power exchange on the spot. It is very convenient to make an APPointment to change electricity in the mobile app. Speaking of Weilai's APP, it is also very easy to use and can control a lot. In addition to basic air conditioning, it can also control windows, while Tesla's app can't. You know, this is the gospel of many obsessive-compulsive disorders!

Simply speaking, changing electricity is to replace the dead battery of the vehicle at the power station and then replace it with a full battery at the power station. My personal experience shows that the whole process is fully automatic. It only takes me eight minutes to drive into the power station and drive out. It's really a pleasure to go to the gas station to refuel.

From my communication with the staff of the power station, I learned that Weilai will monitor the health of each battery in the power station and recycle some unhealthy batteries, so there is no need to worry about replacing damaged batteries.

In my opinion, this is really a good way to replenish energy, which greatly saves the charging time cost of our electric car owners. Moreover, through this power exchange, we can also change the refrigerant for the vehicle at the power exchange station, and we don't have to go to the 4S shop for some small problems. It can also be seen that Weilai's after-sales service is still very thoughtful and intimate.

Through the four-day test drive, I have greatly improved the domestic electric vehicle Weilai. It is not difficult for me to see that domestic electric vehicles also have such car companies and have the strength to do well. Generally speaking, the ES6 car has given me many surprises, no matter from the overall workmanship, comfort, sense of technology, battery life and after-sales service, there are bright spots.

Of course, there is still room for improvement. It's not difficult to be a bucket truck. It is difficult to improve the details everywhere. Only by doing these functions better can we make the car better and satisfy consumers.

To be honest, I still have to admit that Tesla is still the boss in the field of electric vehicles in my heart, but this position is not unshakable. Just like this test drive, ES6 can rival Tesla or even surpass it in many aspects, which is enough for me to see Weilai's sincerity in making products seriously. More profoundly, China's progress in the field of electric vehicles should not be underestimated. Breaking through those technical barriers will ultimately benefit the vast number of electric vehicle consumers in China.
