What do you think of the flight attendant industry?

There are so many people working as flight attendants around me that I almost started this career. The overall experience is that when there are other better choices, don't choose to be a flight attendant unless you really love this industry. Flight attendants are not just beautiful young girls flying around in beautiful clothes. Every walk of life has its own hardships.

Twenty or thirty years ago, the flight attendant industry may have been a job with high wages, good hidden benefits, and a glamorous job to outsiders, but now it has no aura.

The first choice is salary. The wages and benefits of flight attendants are no longer obviously superior, because while all walks of life are increasing wages and benefits, the wages and benefits of flight attendants in this industry have not improved much.

Hidden benefits. Air tickets are purchased internally, medical reimbursement is high, and you can “travel” during breaks when flying international routes. But now, the medical reimbursement for civil servants, central enterprises, public institutions and some foreign companies and private enterprises with good welfare benefits can reach about 95%. Everyone’s definition of tourism may be different. You can’t have an in-depth understanding of a city during a short stay. You can only say, “Where have I been?”

"Glossy". Flight attendants undergo rigorous training every year and have a certain amount of training time. If you do not fly for a long time, such as when you are pregnant (because flight attendants are not allowed to fly during pregnancy, and high-intensity work is not good for the fetus and mother), you must undergo three months of refresher training before returning to work. She is one month old and can’t see her for three months. Please feel this feeling for yourself. Another issue is the physical harm caused by the working environment. Standing for long periods of time can lead to varicose veins. The cabin environment is poor, so you need to replenish water frequently and do skin care frequently. Flight attendants need to be pretty. At present, most domestic flight attendants are young girls in their early twenties, but their turnover rate is also high because of the high-intensity work. I have met a good friend (who has been flying for ten years and is now a flight attendant). According to the schedule, the day starts from the preparation of the shift to the end of the last flight, almost 24 hours a day, and then rests for five or six hours, and the next round starts again.

Finally, let me talk about the issue that I personally think is the most important, career development. I asked a good friend if she wanted to change careers, and she said that you must change careers as early as possible. For example, if you come to fly right after graduation, it is easier to change careers while you are young after flying for one or two years. Being a little older, work experience is a big drawback when changing careers, and starting from scratch is not as good as a child who has just graduated. It's embarrassing anyway.

Of course, there are also many flight attendants who marry rich people and become full-time housewives after marriage, but marriage is not something that can be generalized.
