The sound of Duda when driving at low speed can give people a little surprise. The unique roar of the silicone fan is easily reminiscent of the Prado. Although it only has four cylinders, it's not as powerful as a six-cylinder car, at least when starting out. When the vehicle speed is not high, its power response is relatively direct, and the throttle is still the familiar Japanese light-tune style. The explosive power in the middle section is relatively limited, and the low engine torque can only be considered average, basically above 70 km/h. To accelerate further, you have to step on the accelerator. If you are following or overtaking at high speed, it is best to downshift manually and leave enough distance.

Generally speaking, if you often run in the city, Tudou will not make people feel obviously lacking in power, but if you often run at high speed, this problem will be magnified. But in continuous potholes, the suspension cannot cope with so many problems in a short period of time, the vibrations in the car will be superimposed, and unnecessary lateral vibrations will appear in the final stage. And because the suspension is overall soft, the roll will be relatively obvious when turning, and it is inevitable to raise your head and nod when starting and stopping. However, this is not a flaw, but a unique feature of this type of vehicle. Everyone has different standards for comfort. For me personally, Tudou's performance in this aspect can only be regarded as average, almost unmatched by urban SUVs in the same price range. However, considering objective factors such as positioning and price, the overall performance is acceptable.

Sometimes we say that driving a certain car will be easy. Ease is the conclusion we can draw from aspects such as power, gearbox, steering, etc. All of them are indispensable. Take Duda as an example. I don't think it's that easy to drive this car just by turning to a project. Not only is the steering wheel heavy, it has a lot of turns. It takes nearly four turns from left to right. It doesn't feel very hard when driving at medium to high speed, but it doesn't feel very friendly when you need to make a U-turn. During daily driving, the brakes feel a bit "soft", with some empty space at the front of the brake pedal, and the overall braking force release is not very linear. Back to the test, judging from the braking results, we cannot conclude that drum brakes affect braking distance. Although 42.75 meters is not excellent, the braking effect is still acceptable. In the pulley block test, when the cross axle and the single rear wheel had adhesion, the vehicle passed the test without any challenges. There's no way to get out of trouble with a high-speed four-wheel-drive vehicle when only a single front wheel has traction. From the outside, the three wheels on the pulley block cannot get enough braking, so it is difficult to transfer power to the wheels with adhesion. But with low-range four-wheel drive engaged and the rear differential locked, it's a completely different story. The electronic limited-slip intervention is very fast and powerful, and the left front wheel easily escapes without gripping the road. So from this design point of view, it will be a bit embarrassing for the driver to choose four-wheel drive when going off-road and with low adhesion to the road. The four-wheel drive at high speed is weak, and the four-wheel drive at low speed has the effect of killing a chicken. It would be nice if we could compromise a little.

With the 2.7 times torque amplification, you can easily reach the top in first gear. However, during the testing process, a phenomenon was also discovered. When trying to climb a hill in 2nd gear, I felt a little lack of power. At this point, I wanted to downshift manually, but it didn't work. Fortunately, the project ramp is not long and the vehicle finally reached the top smoothly.

After several attempts, I found that in low-speed four-wheel drive mode, there is no problem with upshifting. Downshifting instructions for gears 1-3 will be rejected unless the vehicle speed is as low as 1000rpm or the vehicle speed is very low. Successful downshifting is possible only under emergency stop conditions.

We also found two hard-core SUVs from other brands that can successfully downshift under the same conditions. This also exposed a problem. If you are facing a slope that requires initial speed to rush up, Tudou cannot downshift in the low fourth mode, and the engine cannot continue to output high torque because it cannot maintain the speed, then it may be impossible to climb the slope or even dangerous.

In the test in the U-shaped pool, the high-speed four-wheel drive mode was used. With the excellent stretching ability of the rear suspension, the vehicle could ensure that the three wheels were on the ground most of the time, so there was almost no slipping. The weight distribution of Duda's body is relatively good, and the center of gravity can be slowly shifted when the diagonal wheels are off the ground. At this point, Duda is more powerful than Jinchang. Due to the limitation of the suspension travel, Jinchang will encounter diagonal slippage and requires the intervention of electronic limited slip to escape. Otherwise, the differential can only pass smoothly after being locked.

Then we came to the steep downhill event. This car is not equipped with steep hill descent, and can only achieve the effect of low-speed four-wheel drive steep hill descent. In this mode, when the transmission is switched to 1st gear, the vehicle can slowly descend at a speed of approximately 5-7 kilometers per hour. In addition, in the low-speed four-wheel drive state, there is no automatic upshifting whether going uphill or downhill.

Continuous humping is relatively difficult because continuous twisting is a big challenge to the power output and four-wheel drive system. Likewise, the strongest state of the vehicle needs to be turned on here. The vehicle climbs slowly and behaves very calmly within a single hump. Even if the diagonal wheels slip, the response of the electronic limited slip between the wheels is very direct, and the triple hump road can be passed smoothly.

Among all the projects, the only thing Duda failed to pass was the cement shell crater, but this was not a problem with the vehicle's own ability. The pedals on both sides became the reason for hindering its progress.
