What is liquid pressure?

1. The reason why liquid pressure is generated is due to the effect of gravity on the liquid. If a liquid loses weight, it will have no pressure at all.

2. Since liquid is fluid, the pressure it generates has the following characteristics

(1) In addition to generating pressure on the bottom of the container, the liquid also "restricts" it The side walls of the flow create pressure. A solid only exerts pressure on its supporting surface, and the direction is always perpendicular to the supporting surface.

(2) There is pressure in all directions inside the liquid, and the pressure in all directions at the same depth is equal.

(3) The formula for calculating liquid pressure is P=ρgh. It can be seen that the size of the liquid pressure only depends on the type of liquid (that is, the density ρ) and the depth h, and has no direct relationship with the mass and volume of the liquid.

(4) The liquid in a closed container can transmit the pressure it receives to all directions according to its original size.

3. The pressure of the liquid on the bottom of the container is not necessarily equal to the gravity of the liquid. The bottom of the container is subject to the pressure of the liquid F = PS = ρghS, where "hS" is the volume of a liquid column with a bottom area S and a height h, and "ρghS" is the gravity of this liquid column. Therefore, the pressure exerted on the bottom of the container may be equal to, greater than, or less than the gravity of the liquid itself.
