Children don't want to read English in class. How to correct it?

In English teaching, we often meet students who don't raise their hands in class and don't like to talk; In communication activities, speak hesitatingly and stammer. So how can we solve the problems in students' oral expression and convince them that they can speak English boldly? I have made many attempts in experiential teaching.

First, create a good classroom language environment and organize classroom teaching.

Insist on organizing classroom teaching in English to stimulate students to "speak". In English teaching, I try again and again to catch children's attention and knock on the memory door of words they have learned. At first, students were not used to listening to "all English". At this time, I insist on organizing all aspects of classroom teaching in English. I can speak very slowly and repeat it many times, so that students can listen and feel again and again. With the help of body language, students can gradually get familiar with the teacher's language and integrate into the English atmosphere.

It is an excellent unconditional stimulus to make full use of pictures, models, objects and other visual teaching AIDS, and the teaching effect is obvious. For example, when teaching fruit words in a class, put the fruit in a bag, let the students feel and guess, and open their mouths to say. After teaching, take shorthand and quickly browse the fruit words and pictures you have learned, and then say them naturally. When teaching English words, let students look at pictures, word forms, read words and listen to word sounds, which can improve the efficiency of classroom teaching more effectively. This is because students' multiple senses participate in learning activities at the same time. We should also learn to activate teaching materials and let students experience life. Most of the texts are based on dialogue, and combined with the actual life, we can use teaching materials, create scenarios and carry out situational teaching language practice activities. Combine the content of teaching materials with students' life organically, so that children can naturally acquire language knowledge while experiencing life.

Starting from this semester, I began to let students use the sentence patterns of the text to make sentences and boldly use their imagination. Some students made funny sentences and the whole class laughed. In fact, in this case, they gradually began to learn to use the knowledge points they had learned before.

Second, provide students with an atmosphere of "speaking freely".

Due to the influence of living environment and language environment, some students are timid and have no habit and courage to express boldly and clearly in public. In order to create a good language atmosphere, let students move their mouths boldly, and cultivate and train students to dare to express themselves. In my teaching, I organized the following activities:

1. Listen, say and do.

I give students "English instructions" or read and repeat sentences in the text, so that they can listen attentively and try their best to imitate and tell. Especially for students with weak English, we should encourage him and praise him more. Even if a word is pronounced correctly, we should give him a "good!" " "Hey, you are great!" And give him a thumbs-up, which will make him more and more confident, make him trust his teacher, and believe that his environment can make him speak English.

2. Act, talk and sing.

Since last semester, in addition to some English songs in teaching, I also used the evening tutoring time to teach my class students three English pop songs, which greatly enhanced their self-confidence and made them like English better. Pupils also like "shh" and "getting along with others". As long as he can sing and sing, he can sing hard, so I will grasp their mentality and teach them to make peace, sometimes. "How handsome" and "I sing this sentence well" and so on, but one thing is to always "make them happy" and take them to find "feelings" through their own pronunciation.

3. Listen, say and draw.

Guide the students to express the meaning of words with simple pictures. For example, wearing a straw hat or shaking a fan means heat, and wearing an umbrella or raincoat means rain. When explaining words, I will also use stick figures to bring the meaning of English to students intuitively, encourage students to do it themselves, give play to their creativity, and let them gradually learn to "not be lazy" and form the habit of speaking, writing and drawing English.

Third, carry out oral communication activities and competitions.

I design to carry out the activity of "speaking English for three minutes every day" in teaching. The content of oral English is to put forward specific requirements for students according to the content of this textbook, so that students can understand the purpose of speaking, and each student is limited to three minutes. This effectively trains students' listening and speaking ability, makes them think hard and doesn't "depend" on others to speak English. At the same time, they can correct their pronunciation and intonation in time, and also cultivate students' ability to use language flexibly.

First of all, I cultivate students' oral English awareness by reading famous western books, and encourage some students who are afraid and unwilling to open their mouths bit by bit and try their best to speak English. When I visited Mianzhu a few weeks ago, some parents said to me, "Teacher Zhang, we found that our children feel completely different when they speak English. We heard that you often make them speak English unconsciously. Our parents hope that you can continue to lead your children to communicate in English. They all like it. We also believe that they will learn to use what they have learned bit by bit, as you said, so as to apply what they have learned.

A parent said: "This semester, children will speak English with their younger brothers at home every week, which is a very interesting phenomenon. In addition to the great improvement in pronunciation and intonation, the sentences they speak are getting longer and longer, including Chinese. However, the pronunciation of these China people is just like the accent of foreigners when they speak Chinese, which is very interesting. They like it themselves. I asked him how can you be so good? He told me that our teacher Zhang taught us to do this and asked us to use dictionaries more every day to find these "foreign accents" in Chinese. Now we are happy to find that she likes English more and more. Thank you, Teacher Zhang, you are amazing! "
