Is it really that difficult to serve the elderly?
It’s really difficult
When we got married, my mother-in-law was already in her early sixties. The father of the child was the youngest in the family, with two brothers and one sister. By this year, my mother-in-law was already eight years old. I am ten years old. I fell off a tricycle last year and my waist was seriously injured. Later I put on a plaster and had an operation. After all, I am older and the effect is not very good. Now I can walk slowly with the help of crutches. I only need to urinate. I couldn't control it, so I had to use adult diapers. I had my father-in-law to take care of me in my hometown, because my father-in-law couldn't stay around. He liked to hang around all day and was not good at cooking. So during the Spring Festival, the old lady took us here to spend time. Living here for more than 20 days made me deeply understand how difficult it is to serve the elderly. They say that getting older is difficult, and that’s true! ?
? In fact, my mother-in-law is okay. After all, she can walk slowly with a crutch and can eat by herself. However, her right arm was injured and she can’t lift it, so she can’t change diapers by herself. What I do is to get up early every day and change her diaper, wash her dentures, prepare meals and serve them to her, help her out for a walk after dinner when the weather is nice, help her take off her shirt when she goes to bed, etc. It's the little things. When Guoguo sent her back when school was about to start, she was also anxious to go home. To be honest, I breathed a sigh of relief when I sent my mother-in-law away. I always felt that I was a very filial person and would be very patient in serving the elderly. But what if it was the mother-in-law who couldn’t take care of herself at all and had to be cared for by someone to eat, drink, and defecate? How long can I take care of her? To be honest, I don’t know. I’ve always heard that “there is no filial son in front of the bed for a hundred days”, and I thought how could it be? How normal is it for people to take care of their children when they are old? Now it seems that it is not that simple. ? From the perspective of taking care of my mother-in-law, the following aspects are big problems.
——, psychological guidance, taking care of the elderly is not only taking care of their food and daily life, it is also a big problem to make them happy. My mother-in-law, for example, has a bad mentality. She will say "Why don't you die?" all day long. You suffer like this, and your children are also affected!” In fact, she just needs someone to accompany her, someone to watch TV with her, someone to talk with her, and she is in a good mood when there are many people sitting together at home, talking and laughing, but this kind of companionship is too rare after all, and it is impossible to do it. Come on, I can't go to work and be at home with her every day! Therefore, it is very important for the elderly to have a positive, optimistic and cheerful attitude. Of course, as children, it is better to guide them appropriately and spend more time with them! ?
2. She should exercise more and let her do something within her ability and interest. My mother-in-law studied when she was a child, so I thought about finding some books for her to read, and I found a Bible for her. , and Guoguo’s extracurricular books. She forgot all the words and didn’t recognize them. Later, I let her watch the opera channel. It turned out that she really loved watching operas. Occasionally, she could understand the operas that she liked, but if she didn't like them, she would sit on the sofa and fall asleep! There is an indoor table tennis toy at home, and I thought about letting her pat and exercise her arms. She doesn’t like playing with it. I just let her rub her fingers or pat her arms to move around. She doesn’t like to move very much, or she will sit up Spend half a day watching a show or sleeping. So I haven't found anything that she likes and can exercise!
So it is really not easy to serve the elderly, and it is even harder to want them to be well cared for both physically and mentally! I hope all elderly people can be treated gently!
