Kunming is warm as spring all year round, and the temperature difference throughout the year is small. The annual average temperature in the urban area is around 15°C, and the monthly average temperature is around 25°C in the hottest period, and around 25°C in the coldest period. The average monthly temperature is about 3℃.

Historically, the annual extreme temperature has been as high as 30.4℃ and as low as -7.8℃.

Because the temperature and humidity are suitable, the sunshine is long, and the frost period is short, the flowers bloom all year round and the vegetation remains green all year round. This is how Kunming is known as the "Spring City".
