How to guide primary school students to read classics
Chinese culture has a long history, is extensive and profound, and contains the essence of classical masterpieces. Primary school students should understand the vastness of Chinese culture from an early age, absorb the wisdom of national culture, and carry it forward. In addition to improving a certain degree of cultural literacy, primary school students reading more classical classics can also help form a correct outlook on life and values. The second volume of the new curriculum standard People's Education Press textbook for fifth grade includes a "Journey to Chinese Classical Masterpieces". I take this as an opportunity to guide students in reading classics. 1. Arouse students’ interest in reading. Interest is the best teacher. At the beginning, students do not know the classics, so teachers have to find ways to arouse their interest. In order to stimulate students' interest in learning, I chose to start with some interesting classics. As a result, students' interest in reading slowly aroused. Start reading famous books from "Hundred Family Surnames". How did I get here? Why do I use this last name? What is the hall number? Who are my ancestors? A series of interesting questions arouse students' desire for knowledge. Then tell the students that they can find the answer by reading that book, tell their relatives and friends about the knowledge they have mastered, and combine the sixth group's "comprehensive learning" to create a "handwritten newspaper" exhibition (those with the same surname will do it together). Students gained relevant knowledge from hands-on experience, and immediately took the first step to love classical masterpieces from their own gains. Reading classics starts with the characters. Every classical masterpiece has a group of characters with distinctive personalities. For example, who is the "timely rain" in "Water Margin"? Who is "Langli Baitiao"? Why this nickname? In "The Romance of the Sui and Tang Dynasties", who is the first hero in the hero list? What weapon does he use? What next? Why do so many monsters and monsters appear in "Journey to the West"? What do they want to do? Please rank your favorite classics in a "hero list" or "weapons list" and briefly explain the reasons for the ranking. Students became more fond of classics during discussions. Start reading classics with idioms, proverbs, etc. Many idioms and proverbs are derived from some classical literary works. For example, "Cheng Yaojin came out halfway", "Sima Zhao's heart is known to everyone", "Ambush from all sides", "Besieged on all sides", etc. There is a story behind these words. Have a story session to see who is the "little doctor" and who has the most knowledge. Reading classics begins with historical allusions. The historical allusions are some very interesting stories. It is easy to arouse students' interest. It seems like why do you need to post "囍" when celebrating a wedding? Why is the Chinese New Year character "福" posted upside down? Why is the first month of the lunar calendar called the first month, and who does it have to do with? Let students try to find and collect them themselves. When the accumulation reaches a certain level, a "story meeting" will be held for mutual exchange and circulation. In this way, classical masterpieces can be connected with real life, allowing students to experience the variety of life, which is conducive to forming a correct outlook on life and values. Reading classics starts with movies and TV shows. Many classic classics have been made into film and television works, but at the same time some exaggerated and distorted elements have been added to mislead young people. There are many versions of "Journey to the West", such as CCTV version, comedy version, Hong Kong and Taiwan version, Q version, etc. Which one is authentic? Let students "watch TV, read original works, try and compare, and find help". This will not only improve students' reading comprehension ability, but also improve students' ability to distinguish right from wrong. 2. The method of instructing students to read is not to use pen and ink but not to read. Classical masterpieces are long in length, have many characters, complex relationships, and exquisite language. It is not easy for adults to understand them, let alone primary school students. Therefore, we instruct students to take notes when reading: remember the characters, the plot, and the beautiful words and sentences. I have developed the habit of taking reading notes since I was a child. Only in this way can you study in an orderly manner and gain more. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Interest is the best teacher. We want students to do what they like and read the books they like. Every student has different interests and likes to read different books. Allowing them to read freely and let their thoughts run freely will often yield unexpected results. Many celebrities have said that their successful experiences were due to reading as a child, being exposed to subjects they were interested in from an early age, and fighting for them throughout their lives. Reading once does not count as reading. This is something I often say to my students. If you don't read the Four Great Classics a few times, you may not even be able to understand the main characters and the plot, let alone understand the essence. Reading the same book at different times and with different experiences will lead to different understandings and different gains. Read the book a hundred times, and its meaning will become apparent. "Read 300 Tang poems by heart, and even if you can't recite poems, you can still steal them." Improving primary school students' interest in reading classics and increasing the amount of extracurricular reading are effective ways to improve students' Chinese literacy.
Teachers must not only guide well, but also provide a platform for students to display their talents, so that students can continue to maintain this interest, so that the splendid culture of the motherland can be passed down from generation to generation.
