Why teach?

This summer, I joined a teaching team and went to a love school in Dou Wu Village, Maoshan Town, Kunming City, Yunnan Province for a half-month teaching activity.

There is no denying that this teaching activity has made me see a lot, both good and bad. Five months have passed, and now the clearest thing in my mind is the faces of the children, and the picture of the old man wearing a hat and wearing hemp fiber to drive the donkey through the school every morning.

In the last few days of teaching, the team videotaped everyone, similar to the form of interview. One of the questions is: "Why did you come to teach?"

The answer is different, some are locals, but they live in the more developed places in that area; Some grew up in big cities and are curious about mountains ... The same thing is that everyone wants to bring happiness to their children.

But after I came back, I was thinking about what we brought them, what we left them in less than half a month, and now I see a pair of eyes full of tears on the day I left.

I like the eyes of children in the mountains. I don't want tears to occupy such beautiful eyes. I prefer when two twinkling stars laugh.

After returning to Shanghai, my sister-in-law submitted a photo I took while teaching to a photo contest in the district. I was lucky to win this prize. At the award ceremony, I was asked to give my acceptance speech and briefly talk about my views on photography and the story behind this photo.

The photo was taken on the first day I came to the teaching point. Three children sat in front of the blackboard and laughed happily. I picked up the receiver and said to everyone: the eyes of children in mountainous areas are so clear and transparent that they seem to see the end. When I shoot them, I don't need to do any post-production. After pressing the shutter, a very natural picture is displayed on the screen. I hope to show that innocence and simplicity in front of big cities with my small lens, so that we can enjoy material life while not forgetting the people who need care in the mountains.

After I came back, I made a decision that I would spend two years teaching after graduation.

I don't think I can answer why we should teach, so I won't think about it. It's straightforward.
