Cleaning is to replace the water in the fish tank, take out the filter cotton, wash it repeatedly in the drawn fish tank water, or backwash the filter cotton with a pumping pipe (of course, the impulse is limited). When cleaning, first of all, be careful not to brush, do not wash too clean, and do not rinse directly with tap water, otherwise the nitrifying bacteria attached to the cotton filter will be completely eliminated by you, or even lose the function of biological filtration.

Five, how to disinfect the fish tank

Potassium permanganate solution, also known as PP powder, as a strong oxidant, releases new ecological oxygen when it meets organic matter, which has the function of killing bacteria. Its bactericidal power is extremely strong. Generally, it is washed with a solution with a concentration of 1: 2000- 1: 5000 (i.e. 1g potassium permanganate plus 2L~5L water).

Note that the soaking time must reach 5 minutes before sterilization. Cold boiled water should be used to prepare the solution, and hot water will be ineffective. After disinfection, it can be used after a little cleaning with water.

But remember: do not use chemical cleaning agents or other chemical reagents when cleaning. Because the alkaline substances, surfactants and phosphates in the detergent will cause harm to fish and aquatic plants. Cleaning with hot water, sponge plastic and a little vinegar is a better method.
