How should we view An Xin in "Jade Guanyin"?
Six years ago, when "Jade Goddess of Mercy" was making a big splash, I watched the movie version without much interest; six years later, thanks to Peter Ho, I watched the TV series version of "Jade Goddess of Mercy" again, but I didn't see it. To something completely different. I saw peace of mind.
Many times, preconceptions can easily distort people’s understanding of the truth. For example, the police must be just and drug dealers must be evil - of course, I don't mean that drug dealers are not evil. I have endured so much anti-drug propaganda and heard about various tragedies caused by drug abuse. I know to some extent how miserable drug addicts are and how despicable drug dealers are. Therefore, I deeply hate drug dealers and this position is very firm. However, this does not affect my understanding of Mao Jie and An Xin in this drama.
Let’s talk about Mao Jie first. I saw some people believed that all Mao Jie's faults should be blamed on An Xin. Some people say that if it weren't for An Xin, Mao Jie would not have embarked on the road of drug trafficking. In fact, I believe that young people like Mao Jie really exist in real life.
He has not received much education. In his world, there is only family affection, love, brotherhood and money. So when Mao Jie first met An Xin, he repeatedly said that money is very important. Only with money can he have his own career and support the woman he loves. Everything must be rich. He knows very well what his parents' "business" is, and he doesn't talk about drug trafficking directly, because he must know that drug trafficking is illegal and will be caught. He knows it is wrong, but he was born in such a family, what can you ask of him? Do you want to kill your relatives out of justice? Those who ask others to kill their relatives out of justice, please kill your relatives first and experience your feelings before saying such things.
Mao Jie’s love is entangled. Because he has not received much education, he does not know how to respect other people’s feelings. He only knows that he loves a woman wholeheartedly, and this woman has an affair with him. There is no skin-to-skin contact, so this woman must also love him. He said that the breakup was just a temporary breakup, and he didn't really break up, so it was reasonable to get back after a while. He didn't know that the woman was a policeman, he didn't know that the woman didn't love him, and he didn't know that the woman had a partner. She really wants to break up, even if he knows, he is not willing to accept it, because he loves her very much and he doesn't want to let her go. When a person really, really loves another person, who can avoid this kind of infatuation?
If Mao Jie had never met An Xin, would he still have embarked on the road of drug trafficking? I thought about this issue for a long time, and after excluding my love for Peter Ho, I suddenly realized clearly that it would happen, it would definitely happen. Because there is no peace of mind, there will eventually be other girls. Mao Jie, an ignorant young man who is crazy about love, will definitely go down this road for a woman, because he has almost no other way out. By selling cucurbits, he cannot give The woman he loves has the best life, so he will definitely follow the same path as his parents unless he is dissuaded by that woman.
And An Xin could have been the woman who dissuaded Mao Jie, if she was really a teacher, if she really loved Mao Jie. To be honest, I quite don’t understand why Hai Yan likes a character like An An, and why some people would be moved to tears by An An’s grief over losing their child. Throughout the whole play, I don’t think An Xin is the least bit worthy of sympathy. Compared with Mao Jie, apart from her complete emphasis on and loyalty to her work (livelihood), there is nothing nobler about her than Mao Jie. In fact, in terms of personal conduct, she is much nastier than Mao Jie.
If drug trafficking is the path Mao Jie will definitely take, then it is inevitable that he will lose his child in peace of mind. Everyone has to pay for their own mistakes. Fate will not take special care of you because you are a policeman, because the judgment of fate is not based on what people think is good or evil and morality. It has its own rules of the game.
An Xin is an extremely selfish woman. For her own happiness, she took advantage of Mao Jie's feelings for her. Don't think that just because you are lonely, you can find someone else to amuse yourself with, especially relationships. Because many things, once they start, cannot be ended casually if you want. Things will often develop in a direction that is least controllable by you.
An Xin's selfishness also lies in her deliberate concealment. Since she appears in court as a witness, she must be prepared to tell the truth. When the defense asked An Xin what the relationship was with Mao Jie, An Xin's most objective answer should have been "Mao Jie thinks We are lovers, but I only regard him as an ordinary friend and have had sexual relations several times." Why didn't An Xin say that? Yes, Mao Jie is guilty, but this cannot be the reason for An Xin to lie in court. It is one thing for Mao Jie to be found guilty and imprisoned, but it is another thing entirely for An An to deliberately conceal and lie in order to make Mao Jie go to jail as soon as possible. This is not upholding justice, but an attempt to manipulate the verdict, which is very serious in nature. And An Xin's silence is not out of justice, but to protect her privacy and cover up her past indulgences and mistakes! And this kind of performance was actually said to be very good by the boss! It’s true that the upper beam is not straight and the lower beam is crooked!
An Xin is a woman who is very irresponsible and indulgent in her feelings! If having sex after drinking is uncontrollable, then whether or not you drink alcohol is completely controllable. When a man and a woman drink alone, the woman should consider the consequences before deciding whether to let it go. With Tie Jun, she developed a relationship with Mao Jie, and when she arrived in Beijing, she developed a relationship with Yang Rui, who was chasing her. She knew that Yang Rui was getting married, but she still refused to cut off her relationship with Yang Rui. Is this really love? no! This is just lust and indulgence! This is shameless!
Anxin is always hiding something. She concealed the fact that she had a boyfriend from Mao Jie, concealed her true relationship with Mao Jie from the court, and concealed her past from Yang Rui. In the end, the child was taken away by Mao Jie, but Mao Jie concealed it from the beginning and did not tell him who the child was. His own, causing Mao Jie to kill his son by mistake. So, can Maojie really be blamed for the death of An An's son? I just feel that this woman An Xin is so irritating. She doesn't reflect on herself, and she even shirks her responsibility and thinks that her fault is just that she met Mao Jie.
There is room for sympathy in Mao Jie, but there is no sympathy for An Xin. Her end was caused by herself. If it were not for her own selfish indulgence, she would not have Mao Jie's child. Without Mao Jie's revenge later, Tie Jun's death would not have been caused. This is definitely not a sacrifice that her job brings, because such a "sacrifice" could have been completely avoided. It can be said that she has no professional qualities at all in this regard!
