Why can't Buddhism eat meat

Buddhism doesn't eat meat according to Buddhist precepts. Eating meat is killing and breaking the rules. So monks can't eat meat.

After I finished reading the Shurangama Sutra, many ghosts and gods flourished in the last dharma, claiming that eating meat led to Bodhi.

"Shurangama Sutra Zongtong": What has three clean things, fish, and does not teach people to take it, seeking self-sufficiency and not meat flavor? Therefore, a carnivore is tantamount to killing, hurting many lives and breaking the Tathagata.

Sanskrit: You can't eat meat. If people eat meat, they will cut off the seeds of great kindness and compassion, and all beings will give up when they see it. Therefore, all bodhisattvas are not allowed to eat the flesh of all sentient beings, and eating meat is innocent.

Xu Yun, an old monk, said: No matter what Buddhism you practice, you should always observe precepts. If you don't keep the precepts, it's amazing to be smart again.

Master Miao Xiang revealed: First, we must strictly observe the precepts and practice. The foundation of keeping precepts is the five precepts. Starting from the five commandments, if you can keep one of the five commandments, keep one; If you can keep two precepts, keep two precepts; If you hold all the five precepts, you have laid a good foundation. This foundation, killing, stealing, fornication, madness and alcoholism, must be strictly observed. For example, killing, for a simple example, means that we can't kill all sentient beings, and all sentient beings, including those flying in the sky and those walking on the ground, can't move-we can't kill anything that has life. It is very important to cut off the seeds of great compassion after killing. It is impossible to become a Buddha without cutting off the seeds of great compassion.

Therefore, both precepts and Buddhist classics record that monks cannot eat meat.

1. After the Buddha died, there was no three golden meats.

If there is an idiot in Mahayana who slanders Tathagata for eating meat and food, you should know that it is entangled in people's bad karma and will never let go of the benefits.

According to the scripture, when the Buddha was alive, disciples were indeed allowed to eat meat for a period of time, such as three gold meats and hardware meats. However, this "clean meat" of Buddha's life is not the "three clean meat" we understand now. Three lean meats are invisible, unheard of, and there is no doubt about it. If you don't see it, if you don't see it yourself, kill animals for me; If you don't hear it, you won't hear it from someone you trust, so killing is an animal; Those who don't doubt, there is a butcher in it, who is kind-hearted and can't take the lives of livestock. Nowadays, the meat eaten by the world is mostly killed for others, but for people who eat meat. It can't be "clean meat".

Eating meat is taking part in killing.

The "clean meat" that the Buddha allowed his disciples to eat when he was alive was not the real meat of all beings, but the "fake meat" that the Buddha showed people with divine power and had no roots in life. Shurangama Sutra: Ananda, I made the monks eat five clean meats, which are all my magical powers and have no source of life. You brahmin, the land is wet and damp, full of sand and stones, and there is no vegetation. I add it with the power of great compassion, and because of the pseudonym of great compassion, you get its taste. With the death of the Buddha, this "clean meat" that has no source of life and is now a Buddha naturally disappears. Therefore, the Buddha clearly told his disciples that there is no clean meat in the world, and all meat should not be eaten from now on.

Eating meat is only a temporary expedient, and the Buddha has already banned it.

"Nirvana Sutra" Ye Jia Bodhisattva answered the words of the White Buddha: Buddha, why doesn't the cloud come to listen to meat? A good man, a meat eater, ruined his great kindness. Ye Jia added, "If you come, why did you listen to the monk eat three kinds of clean meat first?" ? Buddha's words: Ye Jia is three kinds of clean meat, which is gradually made with events. Bodhisattva Ye Jia answered the words of the White Buddha: Buddha! Why not listen to ten kinds of impure or even nine kinds of pure? Buddha told Ye Jia: It is also formed gradually because of things. When we know it, we will break the flesh now.

Entering the Shurangama Sutra: I learned the fruit of three times for my disciples, covering all the meat and not listening to food.

2. Monks beg for food and don't accept meat.

Nirvana Sutra: Buddhas, monks, monks, excellent women and excellent women were born because of him. How can we get clean food if we get mixed meat when begging? Buddha's Word: Ye Jia, you should tell the meat to be washed before eating. If the vessel is stained with meat and tasteless, it is not guilty. If you see more meat in food, you shouldn't accept it. You shouldn't eat any meat you are eating now, and people who eat it will be offended. Today, I'm singing about the broken meat system. If I talk too much, I can't stop.

To say that Buddha eats meat is to denigrate Buddha.

Mahayana enters the Shurangama Sutra: great wisdom! In the future, there will be fools who become monks in our law, falsely calling Puni bad and disorderly, and accusing me of eating meat and eating it myself.

Great wisdom, if an idiot slanders Tathagata for eating meat, he will eat himself. When you know that it is entangled in bad karma, you will never get benefits.

Dahui! All my disciples don't eat ordinary food, but they eat unclean food? Dahui! I heard that bodhisattvas still only eat according to the statutes. What happened?

Dahui! Tathagata dharma body is not omnivorous. Dahui! I cut off all my troubles, washed away all my habits, made good use of all my wisdom, and felt great compassion and equality. Why do you hear that disciples eat children's meat? How much more self-sufficient? There's nothing wrong with that.
