What are the delicious snacks?
Chinese cuisine is diverse, and there are countless snacks. Many places have their own special snacks. The places I have been to are very limited, and the specialty snacks I have eaten are even more limited, so I can only talk about my personal experience among the few snacks I have eaten.
1. Liuzhou’s Snail Noodles
Why I talk about it first is actually because I eat it a lot recently. I have purchased online several times. I just came into contact with snail noodles the year before last. The rice noodles in it have the same texture as our Jiangxi rice noodles, and the taste is similar to hot and sour noodles.
When you cook a packet of snail noodles, the smell can fill the whole house and it's a long-lasting smell. I once heard someone say that after eating a pack of snail noodles, the smell of snail noodles spread throughout the building. This seems a bit "scary".
So, why do so many people like to eat such "smelly" things? This is the charm of snail noodles, and its "stinky" smell can also attract a large number of fans.
In fact, snail noodles taste very good and are not smelly at all. The so-called "stinky" smell is actually coming from the sour bamboo shoot bag. If you don't like it, you can leave it out.
Chinese people actually have a special liking for "stinky" food, such as the stinky tofu below.
2. Stinky tofu
I didn’t like stinky tofu at first, but then I tasted a stinky tofu made by a family that was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and I became obsessed with it ever since. Such snacks.
The most common thing here is Changsha stinky tofu. Sometimes when I see a snack bar selling stinky tofu, I will go in and buy one. Stinky tofu smells bad but tastes delicious.
Of course, if it is a restaurant that is serious about making stinky tofu snacks, the "stinky" smell of the stinky tofu there will also smell very fragrant, making people want to eat a few pieces.
3. Grilled Beef Skewers (Mutton Skewers)
This should be said to be a very classic snack, probably available all over the country. Apart from the kebabs in the hotel, it is very difficult to eat delicious grilled beef kebabs (mutton kebabs) at our local barbecue stalls. I don’t know what kind of meat the kebabs here are, and I can’t tell.
What impressed me most was that when I went to Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan, I ate grilled beef skewers several times. I bought them at other people’s barbecue stalls. They were real beef at a genuine price.
One year I took my children to Beijing. There was a barbecue restaurant in Houhai. There was a national intangible cultural heritage sign outside. We didn’t go in. We only queued up outside to buy a few kebabs. .
I didn’t notice the sign when I was queuing up. Later, as the queue slowly moved forward, I suddenly saw it and thought it was so novel. The mutton kebabs taste very good, and the food is connected with the "intangible cultural heritage", which feels quite special.
4. Chengdu Chuanchuan Xiang
Among the delicacies that best represent Chengdu, Chuanchuan definitely has a place, and most likely it will be ranked in the top three. When in Chengdu, it would be unreasonable not to eat some skewers.
At first I thought it tasted similar to our local boiled skewers, but then I bought some cold pot skewers and found that the taste was not the same as our local ones, but much more delicious.
5. Dandan Noodles
Dandan noodles are a famous snack in Chengdu. Noodles are rolled into flour, cooked, and topped with fried minced pork. The cooked noodles are thin, the marinade is crispy and fragrant, salty and slightly spicy, fragrant and very delicious.
Before I went to Chengdu, I had already eaten this noodle at a local Dandan noodle restaurant owned by a Chongqing native. It tasted really good. A friend who went with me has lived in Chongqing for several years and said that the dandan noodles here taste very good.
6. Lanzhou Beef Noodles
Lanzhou Beef Noodles, one of the top ten noodles in China, has a unique flavor of "the soup is clear, the meat is rotten and fragrant, and the noodles are fine and refined" And "one clear, two white, three red, four green and five yellow", one clear (clear soup), two white (white radish), three red (chili oil red), four green (green coriander, garlic sprouts), five yellow (noodles yellow and bright), It has won praise from customers at home and around the world.
When I was a kid, I read an article written by someone else about Lanzhou Ramen. From then on, I longed to go to Lanzhou and eat a bowl of authentic Lanzhou Beef Ramen.
Although there are also so-called Lanzhou Beef Ramen restaurants in the local area, I always feel that eating locally is the most authentic.
7. Zongzi in Jiaxing, Zhejiang
Although zongzi is very common. Every household eats zongzi every Dragon Boat Festival. Many people can also make zongzi themselves, but they still think Jiaxing zongzi is the most popular. tasty.
Jiaxing Zongzi is a traditional snack in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. It is famous for being glutinous but not mushy, fat but not greasy, fragrant and glutinous, with a moderate amount of salty and sweet. Especially the fresh meat rice dumplings are the most famous and are known as the "King of Zongzi".
Nowadays, many rice dumpling shops sell them under the name of Jiaxing rice dumplings. After buying them and eating them, I felt quite disappointed. Once I bought some Jiaxing rice dumplings from a shop in the waiting room of Haining Railway Station, thinking they would be more authentic, but I was quite disappointed.
8. Tangyuan
Tangyuan is one of the representatives of traditional Chinese snacks. It is a spherical food made of glutinous rice flour. Usually there are fillings, cooked and served with soup. It is also the most distinctive food of the Lantern Festival and has a long history.
It is said that glutinous rice balls originated in the Song Dynasty. At that time, Mingzhou (now Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province) started to eat a novel food, which was filled with black sesame and lard, a little white sugar was added, and the outside was rolled into a round shape with glutinous rice flour. After cooking, it tasted sweet and delicious. Very interesting.
Because this kind of glutinous rice dumpling floats and sinks when cooked in the pot, it was first called "Floating Yuanzi". Later, in some areas, "Floating Yuanzi" was renamed Tangtuan. However, glutinous rice balls symbolize a better family reunion, and eating glutinous rice balls means family happiness and reunion in the new year, so it is a must-have delicacy during the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month.
Ningbo's glutinous rice balls are the most famous. Needless to say, except for handmade glutinous rice balls, most of the bags of quick-frozen glutinous rice balls in the freezers in supermarkets are marked "Ningbo glutinous rice balls".
There is no filling, just small balls made of glutinous rice flour, mixed with homemade fermented rice wine to make glutinous rice dumplings with rice wine grains. Now they have become a specialty snack in many snack bars.
9. Nanchang White Sugar Cake
Nanchang White Sugar Cake is a traditional cake snack popular among local people in Nanchang. It originated in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. By the Republic of China, this kind of white sugar cake It has become a common tea food in major tea shops in the streets and alleys of Nanchang. It is known as "Jiangxi's five traditional snacks" and "Nanchang's top ten specialty snacks".
Nanchang white sugar cake is made from high-quality glutinous rice soaked, washed and filtered, ground into fine powder in a stone mortar, kneaded with boiling water, rolled into thin strips, spread into thin slices, stacked in multiple layers, bent into circles, and put into Fry until golden brown, drain the oil from the pan, mix sugar and rice flour and sprinkle on the cake. Soft and sweet, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is characterized by being fragrant, soft, and white. Its surface is stained with Jiangxi's unique mixture of frozen rice flour and sugar, giving it a unique flavor when eaten.
But nowadays it’s hard to find breakfast restaurants that don’t cut corners. I really miss the white sugar cakes I had when I was a kid.
10. Pancake Noodles
There are so many delicious snacks. I originally wanted to talk about one of our Nanchang special snacks, but here we can only mention ten kinds. After thinking about it, I’ll just mention it. Write on pancake fruit.
Jianbing pancake is a famous snack in Tianjin. It consists of mung bean flour pancakes, eggs, pancakes (fried dough sticks) or crispy "pancakes", served with noodle sauce, minced green onions, fermented bean curd, Chili sauce (optional) as condiment.
I think the crispy "fried grate" inside is the soul of pancake dumplings. Making a delicious pancake dumpling is really a technical job. Some people can make it quickly and delicious. And some people make it slowly and taste poorly, but the price is still the same.
There are really too many snacks with local characteristics, all of which are delicious. I feel like I can’t finish them all. If I don’t talk about them, my mouth will already be drooling all over the floor.
