Start with one foot. The real freedom of feet can not be achieved without our understanding of one foot. Let's think about the problems we have encountered on our feet in the process of learning jazz drums. The problem is that we don't think you can play as you want, because one of our feet may play another role in the process of playing, that is, physical support! Can we still play freely when we support our bodies on the limbs we should play? This leads to another word, which is the center of gravity. When we sit on a stool, we can't give our weight to our feet or hands. We should focus on the hips with the spine down vertically, so that our feet can take an imaginary step. People who know China Wushu must know that there is a posture called virtual step. Similarly, our feet are in a state of insufficient endurance on the pedal, so your feet are liberated at this time, and only in this way can they be free.
I have seen many drummers who use two steps. Many of them are well used, many of them are very tired and the effect is very poor. There are two common postures for this drummer. First of all, some drummers lean forward and have cramps in their thighs when playing relatively fast with the two-step technique. This is what we just said, that is, feet play a supporting role, and they have to bear the weight of the drummer's body when stepping on the board. Second, some drummers lean back when playing. The drummer wants to free his feet, but only through his hips can he balance his upper body and lower limbs. Tired! The stool is rather tired, so when we correct the sitting posture, we can only solve it by finding the vertical downward center and taking imaginary steps with our feet!
Then the next step is the capacity of our feet. Starting point, turning point, stopping point and their transmission are very important. Where does our strength come from and where should we go? Have we thought scientifically and rationally? A virtual step with our feet on the board is like drumming a stick in our hands and stopping at a low position. When we hit with our hands, will you transfer all your strength to your upper arm? Of course not. Then our feet have the same capacity. We don't need to transmit to your thigh or even the root of your thigh. It's no use. A mature drummer can make a very crisp and powerful sound by gently pushing his wrist on his forearm. Then we just need to transmit it to his calf and his knee through his ankle. When hitting the ball, you should feel the feeling that the force stays in this place with your heart, and the turning point reaches his ankle and reaches the sole of your foot. Of course it's beautiful. Two-step exercise 1 trembling
People who have no confidence in their legs and feet, people who can't walk fast by strength. "Shivering" is your best choice. Put your feet on the pedal, lift your heels, and gently press them on your thighs and calves, so that when you step on the pedal, your feet will tremble and make a quick thump. ..........., if you can do this, congratulations, because you have subconsciously used your ankles. This is the beginning of everything, pay attention. ! ! The point of force is where the thumb ball connects with the big toe of the foot. The scope is small, but this is very important. I have pointed out the general position. You must discover it through practice! ! ! It takes almost no effort to "tremble" with the right power, so it is entirely possible to "tremble" for a minute or two quickly. At the beginning, you can push the middle part of the pedal to the back position, because the later the pedal position, the smaller the movement range, the easier it is to push, but it is not accurate enough. So, as you become more and more skilled after finding the feeling, you still have to step on the position gradually. Your feet are relaxed. If you are "shivering" with fatigue, you must be wrong ... Two steps and two explosive exercises
People who have confidence in their own feet. Let's practice with men! ! ! The focus of explosive power practice is to train strength and explosive power. Suppose your speed limit is 180 16, then you can set the metronome to 90( 180 16 equals 90 32-minute notes).

This exercise is also very important. It should be noted that you must ensure that your feet step on the same sound and you can't feel different. At high speed, it is not easy to "shake" this out, because you must match the strength of your feet with the strength time completely before you can hear a voice ... after practicing this. (If the goal is to "shake" to 160, I'm afraid it will take at least a few months.) The next step is to do eight-tone exercises with overlapping limbs. It is even more difficult for your limbs to play octaves at the same time ... The effect of this exercise: First, improve the speed, accuracy and coordination of your feet. I can assure you that no matter how fast you practice, as long as you can step on the eighth note neatly at that speed, you will definitely step on the 16 note perfectly at this speed. Two Steps 4 Body Balance and Pedal Adjustment
When the drummer plays the usual music, his left foot steps on the pedal of the cymbal to support his body and keep his balance with his waist. However, when playing the double bass, only his waist is left to support his body. At this time, if you play fast, you will easily lose your balance, or you will subconsciously put pressure on your waist in order to maintain your balance. This is not a good thing. Please lean forward, focus on your ischium, and keep your back straight when you step on the double bass. Note that you are exerting force with your toes. Never lean back .. Introduce a sitting posture that I recommend most: "The moment you want to stand up when sitting in a chair" (at this time, your body has started to lean forward, your feet have started to support your body, but your ass has not been raised) is the best double stepping posture. Please remember! ! ! By the way, the adjustment of pedal. The weight of the pedal depends on the strength of the spring, the weight of the hammer and the track length of the hammer. Let me introduce my pedal to you. The pedals of both my feet are HP-900R from TAMA, and the spring force is very loose, because it will feel light when stepping on them. But once the spring is loose, the hammer will rebound slowly. Besides, I chose a light hammer. Adjust the length of the hammer to be very short (the length of the metal bar from the pedal to the hammer head is only 73mm), which makes me feel very light when stepping on it, while the distance from the hammer head to the drum head is relatively long (1 1 1mm), because the trajectory of the hammer is too short, and it will be hit by the hammer before you step on the bottom (before stepping on the full force). When you don't do your best this time, you will have to start preparing for the next effort. This is not conducive to improving speed and strength ... Although TAMA's pedal has a general reputation in China and has been rated as "heavy" by many friends, I can easily face all kinds of heavy metals and dead metal music with it. By the way, the concept of speed is for beginners. The speed is more or less. That is to say, the number of beats per minute at this speed. For example, a speed of 60 means 60 beats per minute. In addition, the elementary level is 60 quarter notes per minute. /kloc-0 times per second is a very slow speed. The speed of 120 is 120 beats per minute.
