Tell me about the kung fu in your heart
First of all, wing chun is a very distinctive short fist, which has its own ingenuity in style and strength. It stands for Japanese punch and inch strength, which is well known. A considerable part of Jeet Kune Do in Bruce Lee is based on Wing Chun, which pays attention to technology, exquisite moves, low requirements for physique and foundation, and relatively low entry threshold, so it is easier to adapt to a wider range of people, spread and popularize.
But objectively speaking, no kungfu is perfect, and wing chun certainly has its shortcomings. According to my own boxing and Sanda experience, it is not easy for beginners to quickly form combat effectiveness through Wing Chun Boxing. The threshold and basic practice of wing chun boxing are generally difficult, and the intensity of confrontation is difficult to compare with modern fighting such as boxing and Sanda, so at least in the short term, this has caused the congenital deficiency of beginners. Zhamabu is the basic skill of traditional Wushu. Compared with many tough boxing styles (such as Hongquan and Shaolin Boxing), the difficulty is greatly weakened by the height and posture of Wing Chun Boxing, so many people's waist and horse kung fu is actually not solid enough. There is no root under your feet, so you can't push the ground. I can't talk about it. I'm not stable when I'm beaten, and I'm easy to get passive. Wing Chun's seven-point boxing has three legs. Although it has leg skills, it is far from enough compared with other kungfu. Not actively expanding the arsenal is equivalent to reducing the selectivity and flexibility of moves in actual combat, which is tantamount to binding your hands and feet. This situation is also reflected in the movie "IP Man Prequel".
Generally, the shelf of short-term kung fu is relatively compact, but in actual combat, those kung fu with big movements, tough style and strong momentum are more conducive to play, while the shelf of Wing Chun's boxing is sometimes too rigid, but it is easy to lose the initiative. I have met some Wing Chun practitioners, who are often at a loss in the face of modern fighting such as Sanda and Muay Thai, because modern ring fighting pays great attention to rhythm and distance control. Many Wing Chun practitioners are too rigid in short-hand fighting, lacking the experience and means of attack and defense in the middle and long distance, and it is difficult to enter their effective attack range. Although the opponent's moves are not many, they are refined and powerful, concise and efficient, and the key protection of the head and face is more in place. Even if you are lucky enough to be close to your body, it is difficult to form an effective attack in the face of an opponent with obvious physical and combat capabilities. Instead, you are embarrassed by the combination of fist, knee and hand. Actually, it's not just Wing Chun. Nowadays, many other traditional kung fu skills have not performed well in actual combat. To put it bluntly, it is still a problem of disjointed practice and insufficient training. Not only physical strength and movement, but also rhythm control, distance control, timing control, action combination, footstep movement and even breathing frequency. Modern fighting generally has precise and clear requirements for these seemingly trivial technical details, which are lacking in the current traditional martial arts actual combat teaching, and details often determine success or failure.
What kung fu lovers must recognize now is that martial arts fighting is a skill, which is not self-contained and has been developing. Modern fighting is also based on the traditional kung fu in the past, with absorption, inheritance, summary and innovation. In fact, the theory of attack and defense is no less than traditional martial arts, and it is more in-depth and detailed, easy to understand, and only discusses physical training. With the help of modern scientific research achievements and equipment, the effect is better. Therefore, tradition and modernity should not be antagonistic. Even Wing Chun practitioners should not let their horizons be too limited. They can actively learn other technologies to improve themselves, and it is always good to learn from others.
