Up to now, people in rural areas often talk about the past of "Thirteen Books".

Since then, there has been a saying in the western mountainous area of Raoping that "the scholar of internal security is hopeless", which is a metaphor for those hopes that cannot be realized, and may also include the regret of burying talents.

Begging for food in the emperor's mouth

Legend has it that there is a temple in Qiantang Palace in Raoping, where the statues are delicate and lifelike.

From then on, God came to accompany her sister-in-law every night, and her sister-in-law had various amorous feelings with God in her dreams.

Soon, my sister-in-law became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy.

She knew it was a kind of god, but because she couldn't say it clearly, it naturally attracted gossip.

The eldest sister-in-law could not argue, so she put the baby in a bamboo basket and returned it to the temple god, killing herself.

The child is a god, not a mortal. It is said that he will have the bones of the emperor when he grows up.

Because he grew up in a basket, people call him a "stable basket".

Once, she was bullied by a boy named Wan. She was very angry and swore to heaven, "If I can get ahead one day, I will kill all my family to eliminate my hatred.

When Luo Ding said this, he happened to be heard by Ye. Ye thought he was going to kill Luoding's ten thousand households, so he quickly reported to the Jade Emperor.

Hearing this, the Jade Emperor felt too arrogant. If he really becomes an emperor in the future, he will be lucky.

So, I decided to remove the bones and muscles of the emperor.

He sent Grandpa Laojun to bring a pair of beggar bones instead of the stable emperor bones.

On the Dragon Boat Festival that year, the children in the village went to the stream to watch the dragon boat race early in the morning and stayed until noon. When they got home, they ate several bowls of rice and fell asleep.

At this time, the old man immediately pulled out the bones and muscles of the emperor and replaced them with the bones and muscles of the beggar he brought.

Just as I was about to change my voice, the dragon boat race began to drum up again.

After listening to the drums, he skid up.

The old man had no time to change his throat bone and cavity bone, so he had to give up.

Later, he grew up steadily and really became a beggar, but everything he said came true because his throat bone and cavity bone remained unchanged.

This is the origin of the Chaoshan proverb "Begging for food, begging for food".

This sentence was interpreted and then used to accuse those poor people who pay attention to eating and drinking.

There are no buffaloes on the seamounts.

The story of "There are no buffaloes on the seamounts" comes from the autumn of 1946 after War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory. The oxtail distribution center in Jiaochangpu (place name, now Shanglin District) of Huanggang Town in Raoping District (the county has four administrative districts every year) is revived every Monday, Thursday and July.

One day, at the market, an elderly cattle dealer shouted to his son, "Hello! Tilt your head! There are no buffaloes on the seamounts! "

"I know!" , his son answered.

The phrase "There are no buffaloes on the seamounts" happened to be clearly heard by a nearby cattle dealer from Zhaoan County, Fujian Province. He looked at the four buffaloes he had brought to the dock, including two middle-aged cows and two calves who had just been taught to plow, and felt glad: There are no buffaloes on the seamounts? ! Isn't this an opportunity?

The next morning, the cattle dealer in Zhaoan took four buffaloes to Haishan Ferry on Xiarao (now Xiaxi District) levee in Huanggang to catch the tide. At noon, he boarded the Huanglong Ferry in Huangshigang Township, Haishan, and happily carried four buffaloes to the bitter tree in Huanglongpuli to recruit people to buy and sell.

An old farmer said to him; "oh! There are no buffaloes on the seamounts! "

"You're right! Why don't I bring four heads? ! "Zhao 'an cattle dealer answered in Minnan dialect.

"no! You misunderstand, seamounts can't raise buffaloes! " Zhao' an cattle dealer was surprised after hearing this and asked; "Don't you have buffaloes all over town?" "Not a township, there are no buffaloes in 18 townships (villages) of Haishan.

"The old farmer explained and went away.

Zhao' an cattle dealer had to sit under a tree and smoke, shaking his head and saying nothing.

It turned out that the old man told Weibu's son yesterday to remind him not to take buffalo to the seamount for sale.

Zhao' an cattle dealer mistakenly thought that raising cattle in Haishan was an opportunity to make money, and he was disappointed.

There are no buffaloes in Haishan 18 towns (natural villages).

The reason is that seamounts have always been the economic income of fishermen and salt farmers (few), and a small number of farmers have little cultivated land. There are no ponds, water holes and gullies in each township (attached). Farmland irrigation relies on digging a well at the edge of one's own field and pumping water to irrigate the field, that is, erecting a stone (wood) column several meters high at the edge of the field and stringing it horizontally in a nearly balanced way. Hook a bamboo pole several meters long with a rope at the front end to connect the swinging bucket, and tie a big stone with a big rope at the back end, which is heavier than the water in the bucket. In this way, using the recoil of the stone, the water can be lifted lightly, and it looks like an anti-aircraft gun when it is not lifted.

Therefore, you can only raise mountain cattle (yellow cattle), but you can't raise buffaloes that need to take a bath every day.

Later, "there are no buffaloes on the seamounts" became a warning that people should never misunderstand things.

Legend of Zhugan Mountain: There is a Zhugan Mountain in the northern suburb of Chaozhou.

How did Zhugan Mountain get its name? Legend has it that one day, in order to solve the flood, Han Yu personally took Zhang Qian and Li Wan to investigate the levee outside Beiguan.

He rode a white horse ahead, while Zhang Qian and Li Wan each walked behind with a bundle of bamboo poles.

Where Han Yu's horseshoe stepped, Zhang and Li inserted bamboo poles as a sign.

They worked all day until sunset.

When they returned home, Zhang Qian and Li Wan left the remaining bamboo poles on the hillside.

Who knows that the next day, where the bamboo pole was inserted yesterday, a brand-new levee appeared, and the bare hillside where the bamboo pole was lost turned into bamboo.

This levee is the later North Dike.

And that mountain, people call it "Zhushan".

In the Shuinandu area of Chaozhou (that is, eight towns such as Lianshan, Linxi Town, Chao 'an County), there is also a beautiful legend of "turning a stubborn stone into a bird screen": in order to control the flood, Han Yu led a crowd to build Jinshaxi, and decided to dig a Longmen Pass drainage gate at the lower reaches of Jinshaxi to discharge the waterlogged water into the sea.

There are grotesque rocks in Longmengguan area. At the beginning of construction, there were stone demons, and migrant workers were entangled in them and fell ill one after another.

When Han Yu heard the news, he rushed to the scene and said seriously to the strange stone: "I, Han Yu, have been instructed by Tianzi to guard this land and protect the people by controlling water. You and other stubborn stones must not get in the way. "

"Those stones were deeply moved by the Korean secretariat's spirit of caring about the sufferings of people's livelihood and left together.

They stopped at a place thirty miles away and turned into a very beautiful mountain, which is Queping Mountain in Tiepu Town, Chaoan County.
