What does it mean to fight hoarding in rural areas?

hoarding is a traditional folk Chinese New Year custom in Leizhou Peninsula, Guangdong Province. On the 24th or 25th day of the first lunar month, all parts of Leizhou Peninsula are cleaned, commonly known as "hoarding" or "sweeping hoarding". Every household carries out indoor cleaning, and makes every effort to sweep classrooms, roofs, walls, doors and windows, so as to greet the New Year cleanly.

When people who sacrifice stoves (only men) go to the stove room, they respectfully incense and put two pieces of yellow sugar and some small gifts. This is because Leizhou people believe that the kitchen god is not greedy for gifts, and yellow sugar is to make the kitchen god mouth dessert, so they should tell the Jade Emperor more about this family.
