On the urgency and long-term nature of socialist construction in the light of national conditions

First, urgency. Our socialist construction is based on backward productive forces and underdeveloped commodity economy. We have the dual task of completing the traditional industrial revolution and catching up with the new scientific and technological revolution. The competition in science and technology is becoming increasingly fierce, various ideas and cultures are stirring each other, and the world is advancing by leaps and bounds, and time waits for no one.

Second, the long term. China is and will be in the primary stage of socialism for a long time, which is a historical stage that can only be completed in at least one hundred years and is China's basic national conditions. At this stage, we should realize the industrialization, socialization, marketization and production modernization that western developed countries have achieved under capitalist conditions, complete and realize our own industrialization, informationization, urbanization and agricultural modernization, enhance our comprehensive national strength and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
