The groom talks to his piano player.

This is written by Ji Xiaolan. The embroidered pavilion is reunited with the full moon. The sweet lady is quiet and good at playing the piano.

The author of this couplet is Ji Xiaolan, a gifted scholar in Qing Dynasty.

During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the son of Niu Renwen, a local official in Tianjin, got married, and Ji Xiaolan, the editor-in-chief of Sikuquanshu, presented a couplet of "Embroidering the pavilion and looking at the bright moon, and the ladies-in-waiting are quiet and good at playing the piano".

The first part secretly uses the story of "Cowherd and Weaver Girl", and the second part secretly embeds the idiom "Playing the lute to a cow".

The beauty of this couplet is to congratulate the Niu family on their marriage. Both the upper and lower couplets say "cow", but the couplets literally have no cow, which is intriguing. This couplet is regarded as the earliest wedding celebration by later generations.

An interesting story about "Embroidering the pavilion and reuniting with the moon, and Mrs. Xiang is quiet and good at playing the piano"

At that time, a groom named Niu was getting married, so he gave this pair of couplets. When the groom saw the full moon playing the piano, he was very satisfied: "Great talent is great talent. Great."

A friend who knows traditional culture smiled and said, "Groom, you have been teased by Ji Xiaolan." It turns out that this gorgeous couplet has another purpose. In fact, the sentence of "looking at the moon" in the first part of the couplet implies the allusion of five cows breathing to the moon in Shi Shuo Xin Yu: "I am still a minister, and five cows breathe to the moon." So this full moon is closely related to the groom's surname Niu.

The bottom line needs no explanation, and everyone can see that the word "playing the piano" implies an allusion to playing the piano for a cow, which is also closely related to the word cow. Therefore, this couplet not only expresses congratulations to the groom's official, but also has some teasing flavor, which is very interesting and makes people laugh.
