This article was published by Comrade Mao Zedong at the memorial service of the martyr Comrade Zhang Side in September 1949. Comrade Zhang Side was an ordinary soldier in the Yan'an Guard Regiment. He died heroically in a coal mine collapse accident. Because he died for the people, Comrade Mao Zedong held a memorial service for him and called on him to "learn from Comrade Zhang Side."

In the article, Comrade Mao Zedong once quoted a sentence from the ancient Chinese historian Sima Qian: "Everyone is destined to die, which may be heavier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather." This means: People are always going to die. , some people die heavier than Mount Tai, while others die lighter than a feather.
