Bai Tieshi

This is not a poem, but a couplet, written by Qin Dashi, the champion of Qianlong Dynasty in Qing Dynasty.

On Changle Road near Qinhuai River in Nanjing, there is a mansion building in Qing Dynasty. The owner of this mansion is Qin Dashi, the top scholar of the Qing Dynasty.

It is said that this famous couplet was made while visiting Wang Yue Temple in Hangzhou with others, which not only avoided embarrassment, but also skillfully answered people's difficult questions, and was worthy of being the first generation scholar.

It is said that Qin Dashi's poems, books and paintings are three necessities. After winning the first prize, he became better. He was instructed by Qianlong to write Selected Works of Zhaoming. Bao, a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty, divided the calligraphers in the Qing Dynasty into five categories and nine categories in Yi Zhou Shuang Gu, which was classified as "capable products".

In the former residence of Westinghouse, there are still inscriptions written by Qin Zhuangyuan in Zheng, Cao, Li and Zhuan, all of which are pleasing to the eye. In his later years, he loved painting, especially bamboo, and sometimes he made freehand flowers, which was full of vitality and famous far and wide.

As a native of Jinling, Qin Dashi left many relics in Jinling. Especially in the south of the city, there are many ink poems of tuas. The plaque of the "Southeast First School" in Dacheng Hall of Confucius Temple was inscribed by a scholar. Zhishi returned to Qin Dashi, stayed at home, traveled and strolled in the landscape, where he found leisure everywhere.

Niushou Mountain, Sheshan Mountain (now Qixia Mountain), Longjiang Pass and Wulongtan are all printed with his footprints. The Hanbi Building in Longtan and the Snow Nest in Xiang Tao are all recited by top literati.
