What screen does the turtle tank use?

Generally, there are three kinds of filtration: mechanical filtration, physical filtration and biochemical filtration.

1, mechanical filtration

The water in the turtle tank will be polluted by turtle dung, food residue and rotten leaves of aquatic plants. People filter out the visible suspended solids in the water to keep it clear and transparent. In fact, this is only the primary function of filtration, which we usually call mechanical filtration. The filter materials for mechanical filtration include textiles and sponges. Some biofiltration materials also have mechanical filtration function.

2. Biological filtration

Modern ornamental turtle tank filtration should have both mechanical filtration and biological filtration, and sometimes physical filtration is needed. Among them, biological filtration is particularly important. The so-called biological filtration is to decompose or convert harmful substances dissolved in water into harmless substances through bacteria attached to filter materials. The filter materials of biological filtration include hollow plates (available in shops), bottom filtration systems covered with sand, sponge, ceramic rings or volcanic rocks, etc.

3. Physical filtration

It is to use the unique adsorption function of some materials to purify water. The commonly used physical adsorption material is activated carbon. Activated carbon is a kind of porous carbon particles, and its porosity greatly increases its internal surface area. The internal surface area of high-quality activated carbon can reach 400 ~1200m2/g, and activated carbon particles with large surface area have enough space to absorb pollutants. Physical filtration is generally only used for a short time under special circumstances, such as removing residual chemicals in water.
