What do you mean by intercropping?
Intercropping and interplanting refers to planting different kinds of crops on the same land according to a certain row, plant spacing and length-width ratio. Intercropping and interplanting is an agricultural production mode developed by using the spatial structure principle of communities and making full use of space and resources, which can also be called three-dimensional agriculture. Generally, sowing several crops at the same time is called intercropping, and sowing at different times is called interplanting.
Intercropping and interplanting is the traditional experience of farmers in China, and it is also a measure to increase agricultural production. Intercropping and interplanting can rationally allocate crop population, make crops layered and interlaced, which is beneficial to improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions of crops, improve the utilization rate of light energy, and give full play to the yield-increasing effect of edge-row advantages.
Calculation method of intercropping and interplanting
1. Yield substitution method: Take the interplanting of two crops as an example, first calculate the single crop yield ratio of the two crops, convert the yield of crop A in the interplanting area into the yield of crop B according to the yield ratio, then add it with the actual harvest yield of crop B in the interplanting area, and then compare it with the yield of crop B in the single cropping area to get the yield increase rate.
For example, in the monoculture area, the yield of crop A is 500 kg/mu, the yield of crop B is 100 kg/mu, and the yield ratio is a/b = 5; The yield of crop A in the interplanting area is 300kg/mu, and that of crop B is 60kg/mu. The yield of crop A in the interplanting area is converted into the yield of crop B according to the yield ratio =300/5=60, plus the actual yield of crop B in the interplanting area = 60+60 = 120kg/ mu, and then compared with the yield of crop B in the monoculture area, the yield increase rate is = 100%.
2. Land equivalent method: compare the yield of two crops in the interplanting area with that in a single area, and then add them to get the yield increase rate of interplanting. The above example: the yield of a crop is 300 kg in the interplanting area and 500 kg in the single cropping area, with 300/500 = 0.6; B crop yield, 60kg in interplanting area, 100kg in single cropping area, 60/100 = 0.6; Add 0.6+0.6= 1.2, that is, the yield will increase by 20%.
