Waldorf's experience in clay sculpture class

In Waldorf's anthropological theory, there is a theory of twelve senses. These twelve feelings include the spiritual level and are divided into three levels: one is the feeling of one's own body, including the sense of touch, life, movement and balance; The second is the intermediate feeling, which is the feeling of the external environment and the world. It is associated with feeling, feeling the people, nature and environment around it, including smell, taste, vision and warmth. Third, the sense of advanced, social and social, related to thinking, is used to perceive human society and feel the other, including hearing, language, thought and self.

These feelings have different emphases at different ages. If it develops well, people's lives can be more harmonious and complete, and they can better integrate with the world. Waldorf has developed a series of courses to implement these ideas. On the weekend, my daughter went to Waldorf Experience Camp, and as parents, we went to experience a clay sculpture class with Waldorf characteristics.

1. Touch: The clay sculpture class lasts about one and a half hours, and about 30 parents attend. Each of us got a board and a piece of mud. After entering the classroom, the teacher asked us to only put the clay ball on the table, put other things behind us, turn off or mute the mobile phone, keep quiet and put our body and mind in the classroom. She also asked us to break and rub the mud in our hands, remove the bubbles in the mud, feel the feeling brought by the mud and bring some temperature to the mud. After kneading, combine them into a whole.

In this process, the teacher took out an egg and a ping-pong ball, and let us observe and appreciate the difference between these two shapes. She explained that just looking at the shape, the oval shape of an egg may grow and change. Then, she asked us to knead the mud into an oval shape, and then slowly pat it flat with the palm of our hand.

2. Statue: Next, the teacher asked us to shape this flat oval mud ball into a human shape with our own feelings. The general requirement is to start from scratch, then slowly pinch out the contours of the upper limbs and legs, and then slowly separate the upper limbs and legs from the trunk. The whole process should be formed at one time, without splicing or paying too much attention to details. Just follow your feelings.

3. Modeling: After doing the basic modeling, give the clay figurine an action or gesture you want to give. Because I thought of my childhood and my son's naughty and happy appearance, I shaped a shape with my body tilted and my head tilted to dance.

4. Interaction: Next, the teacher asked us to do an interesting group activity after class, and finally divided everyone into two groups. After returning to the classroom, the teacher asked each group to put two clay sculptures on a board. Then, let the two partners in the group change each other's clay shape. You can't communicate in language during the modification, and you can adjust it twice respectively.

My partner made a portrait with his left hand raised to salute. He later explained that his child was left-handed and liked the image of a soldier, so he made a sculpture saluting with his left hand. I raised the statue's salute hand to make it stronger, and pushed its hanging right hand forward a little, trying to send an invitation. And my partner bent my statue's high hand and made a gesture of getting ready to fight. When the two sculptures are put together, there is a feeling of wits and courage. When two clay sculptures are put together, there is a sense of space, as if there is also a relationship and a communication.

5. Share: After adjusting the clay sculpture, everyone will have a brief exchange with each other and say some of their own ideas. We two men said very little, simply said our thoughts and feelings after the change, and then stopped. But there are some fluctuations in my heart. I am a little dissatisfied that the other party changed my statue, because it goes against my original intention. So I drew his statue closer to mine and connected their outstretched hands together, expressing a gesture of willingness to connect places.

Finally, the teacher invited some partners to share their feelings and thoughts about this process. Many groups can't wait to share. Most of us are strangers at first, but in the short interaction, we found many places where * * * sounds and formed a connection. There are also couples who understand the coping style in the family through the change of the statue and make adjustments. The husband of the couple made two statues: an adult and a child. Adults point their fingers at children and criticize them. When adjusting the statue of her husband, the wife changed the accusation into a hug and asked the child to make a hug gesture. Later, when the husband adjusted his wife's sitting posture statue, he also changed it into a hug posture, and the whole picture became very harmonious and warm.

The clay sculpture that looks simple has a simple feeling when it is made. In a simple clay sculpture class, there is no criterion for judging whether it is done like it or not. Everything starts from the heart and expresses the prototype of the heart. You can stand, sit, lie down and take any posture you want. When two statues are put together, wonderful things will happen, showing a lot of interaction and relationship, subtle and real.
