SM talk about it

A few hundred words tell the story of an old car, the goddess-Citroen SM, (Citroen? N SM) is a French manufacturer Citroen Citroen? High performance coupe produced between n 1970- 1975. SM is so beautiful, just like a tear of the goddess.

Citroen 1968 acquired Maserati, aiming at using Maserati's high-performance engine technology to combine the complex Citroen suspension with Maserati V6 engine to produce a real luxury recreational vehicle. Thus, Citroen SM was born, and she (beautiful, just using her as an agent) made her debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1970.

In September of the same year, it began to sell in France. At first, the displacement of SM engine was 2.7 liters. Her competitors are high-performance GT models of other automobile manufacturers, such as Jaguar, Lotus, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, Citroen with a higher heart than the sky, and SM with a bad life.

The source of the model name "SM" is not completely clear. A word can come from dad, and a word can come from mom. "S" may come from the project name "S", which is a sports car of Citroen DS, and "M" may refer to Maserati, so SM is usually considered as "systematic Maserati" or "sporty Maserati".

However, some people think that it is the abbreviation of "Sa Majesté" (Her Majesty the Queen in French), which is consistent with the nickname "La déesse" (Goddess) of common DS models. Citroen SM has many unusual innovative functions, some of which have only become commonplace in cars made decades later, such as hydro-pneumatic self-leveling suspension and self-leveling lamp that rotates with steering.

SM was designed by Robert Opron, the chief designer of Citroen, and has family similarities with Citroen CX, Citroen GS and Maserati Mistral. Like CX, SM retained the rear fender skirt. Seen from above, SM is as beautiful as a teardrop.
