Stone Painting Tutorial ‖ Draw your favorite animated characters (tools, materials and painting steps).

? For a painting lover, stone painting is very interesting and meaningful. Painting on a stone is basically no different from painting on paper. In contrast, you may need to be more careful and patient. Of course, the objects of stone painting are all-encompassing. Scenery, people, food, animals and so on can be painted. As long as the composition and color are well grasped, it is a good work, and it would be better if the painting object can be lifelike.

Personally, I especially like Miyazaki Hayao's cartoons. I have read almost all his works, and some even read them more than ten times. The expressions of characters and animals in each film are very rich, and the images are very vivid and lovely. Sometimes these lovely characters are painted on stones. Here I will take some of them as examples to share my experience in stone painting, and specifically talk about the tools, materials and painting steps I use in stone painting.

1, Stone: Stone painting We usually choose pebbles with smooth surfaces. You can buy it online. If conditions permit, it is better to go to the river to pick it up. Not only can you feel the little comfort when picking up stones, but you can also pick out your favorite stones.

2. Pigment: I have always used acrylic pigment to paint stones, because we often play with the painted stones in our hands. Acrylic pigment will quickly lose its solubility after the colored layer dries, and at the same time form a rubber-like film, which is impermeable to water. Even if we have water in our hands, it will not destroy the pigment.

In addition, acrylic pigment is soluble in water when painting, which is more convenient than oil painting pigment and dries quickly, so the works painted with it are more durable.

I use Windsor Newton's 24-color tube to pack acrylic paint. Of course, you can buy acrylic pigments with more colors. The finer the color, the more convenient it is for us. But 24 colors are enough.

3. Pen: You can use a pen that usually paints watercolors or gouache. Be sure to prepare a Gou Xianbi or a small brush, so that we can draw the five senses of the characters and more small details.

4. Others: Of course, there are other necessary tools, such as pencils, erasers and porcelain dishes. A porcelain dish is a small dish that is often used to hold ink or color when painting Chinese paintings. You can also use bowls or other "China" utensils at home instead. Why do you use "porcelain" utensils here? Because acrylic pigment is insoluble in water after drying, it is not easy to clean the pigment after drying if a plastic palette is used. If you choose a porcelain plate and put it in water for a period of time after painting, the pigment will easily fall off.

You can look up Miyazaki Hayao's animation in books or online, and determine the object to draw according to the size of the stone. Of course, you can also determine the object you want to draw first, and then choose a stone with the right size or shape.

After choosing pictures and stones, you can analyze the picture first, so that you can show your self-awareness and selectively express the painting objects. For example, you can think about whether you need to draw less or more things. If you are more open-minded, you can even consider whether you need to change colors.

I found a picture in "The Witch Deliveries" on the Internet, as shown below:

From the analysis of the shape and size of the stone I chose, I found that the broom that the little witch Kiki rode in the picture I chose was long, but the stone I chose was round, so I couldn't draw the whole broom when the main character was in the right size, so I decided to draw the main object Kiki in the center of the stone to ensure that the main object could be drawn completely. As for the broom, I can draw as many as I can.

In addition, because the color of the stone I chose is relatively light, I decided not to draw the background, but to keep the original color of the stone, which will have the effect of "original ecology" and make the work more breathable.

1, structure draw

? Stones eat lead. If the lead is too soft, the lines will be thick. It is best to use a hard lead pencil for composition. First, tick off the general outline.

? Here, I chose 2B pencil structure diagram.

? After drawing the general outline, I will describe the details in detail, drawing the hair and skirt of the witch Qiqi, as well as the broom and the black cats Kiki and Cage hanging on the broom.

? When I draw a skirt, I draw the shadow part of the skirt at the same time, which is more convenient for coloring.

? When coloring, the paint will be thicker, so you don't need to wipe the pencil line if it is misplaced. Pigment will cover the pencil line when coloring.

? The following are my own views on "composition". I always think that "composition" is the most basic and important part of a work, because the composition failed and all the subsequent steps could not be completed naturally.

? When I first started learning to draw, I was always in a hurry. I always want to use a few dollars to build this painting, and then I always collect my pens in a hurry during the composition step. Even if the manuscript is not well drawn, I don't care I quickly colored it, thinking that the final painting would be an amazing work, and then, of course, there was nothing more. Now painting, if a painting takes two hours from composition to pen collection, then I will spend 40 minutes composing, don't worry, slowly adjust the painting, and then I will have the confidence and patience to continue painting seriously.

? Of course, it is best for beginners to compose music from the whole to the part. If they choose to draw the performance object from the part when the technique is not very skilled, it is easy to have problems such as the wrong proportion of the painting object, the painting object being too big or too small.

2. Up? colour

? The steps of coloring can follow your own interests, and you can start coloring from anywhere. Of course, it can also be colored according to the principle of "from whole to part".

? When coloring, choose the right pen according to the place to be colored, choose the right color or adjust the right color before coloring. Just like when composing music, you must not rush for success. Don't just seek speed and ignore quality. Don't add too much water when coloring. If the pigment is too thin, it will appear too thin and uneven, so it needs to be painted several times. Dry color is better, just apply it once or twice.

? Remember to soak the pen in water immediately after each coloring. If the pen dipped in paint is left for too long, it will take some time for the paint on the pen to dry and wash off, which will also hurt the pen.

Finally, draw Kiki's facial features with Gou Xianbi dipped in black. When drawing eyes, you can leave the highlights in your eyes directly, or you can paint them all black first, and finally use white to show the highlights.

? 3. Overall adjustment

Adjust the details again, for example, Kiki's hair can be painted more elegantly, and some wrinkles can be painted on skirts, cages and brooms. The color of Kiki's face and hands before the shadow was not obvious, so I changed it to a darker yellow and added blush to Kiki's face. After the adjustment is completed, remember to erase the extra pencil lines with an eraser.

Carefully compare the original picture and add some wonderful little details to make the work look good.

Dry acrylic pigment is insoluble in water. Putting the stone under the tap and water flowing through the painting will give people another strong visual sense, and the color of the stone painting will be clearer and brighter after it is wet by water ~

Painted stone paintings can be displayed on bookcases at home, placed in photo frames or placed in transparent boxes for decoration, and it is also meaningful to give them to friends and relatives on special days.

Most stone paintings are small and lovely, and lovely shapes will always make people like them at first sight. Now, find a stone and draw your favorite animated character!
