It's hard to make a figure like Qin Shihuang clear in one or two sentences. Today, people are still arguing about his merits and demerits.

Say a little bit about my personal opinion.

First of all, Qin Shihuang made great contributions. His contribution is actually two words, "unification", but it is also the most difficult contribution. He unified the territory, unified the weights and measures, unified the currency, unified the tracks and unified the characters. Historians of past dynasties may scold Qin Shihuang, but without exception, they all have to honestly admit that "sharing the same book and track" is the greatest achievement in history. Only a country with "one book and one train" is a unified country.

For Qin Shihuang's fault, Guo Qin's theory has made a thorough analysis, that is, "benevolence and righteousness are not applied, and the offensive and defensive trends are different." Just saying "burning books to bury Confucianism" is enough for scholars to scold for tens of thousands of years.

But on the whole, without Qin Shihuang, there would be no China today, or Li Bai's words, "Qin Wang sweeps Liuhe and looks at him!"
