3 basic usage

3. 1 is used at the end of a sentence to express interrogative mood (including rhetorical questions, rhetorical questions and other types of questions). The use of question marks is mainly based on the pause, interrogative tone and intonation before and after the paragraph, not on the length of the sentence.

Ex. 2: Aren't these ordinary soldiers worthy of praise?

3.2 In multiple-choice questions, there is usually only one question mark at the end of the last option, and each option is generally separated by a comma. When the options are short and there is almost no pause between options, there is no need to use commas between options. When there are many or long options, or the independence of each option is intentionally highlighted, you can also add a question mark after each option.

Example 1: Is the war described in the poem a true historical description or a poet's fiction?

Ex. 2: Is this a coincidence or an intentional arrangement?

Example 3: What kind of ending do you want: realistic? Tradition Are you happy? Ridiculous? Ethnic form? Symbolic?

3.3 When multiple questions are used together or the tone of the question is aggravated, the question mark can be used repeatedly. Usually, it should be used alone first and then repeatedly, with up to three question marks. Question marks should not be used repeatedly when there is no need for unusually strong emotional expression.

Example: Did you make this? How to become a general manager? How dare you cheat consumers like this?

3.4 Question marks and labels are also used to express doubts or unknowns in sentences.

Example 1: Ma Zhiyuan (1250? A 132 1), most of them were dramatists and essayists in the Yuan Dynasty.

Example 2: Zhong Rong (? A 5 18), a native of Yingchuan Changshe, was a literary critic in the Southern Liang Dynasty.

Example 3: This text incorrectly shows the author (editor? School? ) it's not serious.

1. Select the position of the question mark. Generally speaking, commas are used between options, and a question mark is used after the last option. Example:

2. Multiple choice questions If the options are short, there is no need to use commas between the options. Example:

If you want to emphasize the independence of each option, you can add a question mark after each option. Example:

5. The use of question marks should be based on the interrogative tone expressed in the sentence, not on the interrogative words contained in the sentence. When the paragraph containing interrogative words acts as a sentence component and the sentence does not indicate interrogative mood, the same mark is not used at the end of the sentence.

1. Although there are interrogative words in the sentence, the whole sentence is not interrogative, but a question mark is used at the end of the sentence. For example:

2. Although the sentence contains optional interrogative forms, the whole sentence is not interrogative forms, but a question mark is used at the end of the sentence. For example:

* She tasted it again and again, wondering if his words were praise, flattery or irony? (The question mark should be changed to a full stop)
