A good place for an outing in Beijing: barbecue in Cuihu Wetland and bird watching.

Cuihu Wetland is located in Shangzhuang Town, Haidian District, adjacent to Shahe River, Daoxiang Lake Park in the west and Shangzhuang Reservoir in the east. It is the largest or only natural wetland in Beijing. The Cuihu Wetland Park of Shangzhuang Reservoir is still under construction and is not open. Shangzhuang Reservoir has a large area, which is especially suitable for a family to play in a small area. There are many fishing and barbecues on weekends.

I went hiking in spring, went to Cuihu Wetland, and the park was closed. Looking around the wild landscape, I found many amazing landscapes. There is no artificial carving, no wild scenery and interest, mountains and rivers blend, trees are swaying, and the craft is natural. Many tourists fish, barbecue, walk their dogs, take photos, drink, have a picnic, and then sing or lie down. There are many people fishing here, and some people fish in this net. Groups of students get together, barbecue, drink and sing. A family of three came here to relax and have a quiet weekend. Occasionally lovers meet on the grass and snuggle together. There are birds flying in the sky, kites flying and puppies playing on the ground. There are fish in the water and grass under the tree. I am surprised that in the suburbs of modern cities, there is such a land of geomantic omen, a fairyland on earth.

Cuihu wetland

Cuihu Wetland Park is located in Shangzhuang Township, Haidian District, at the foot of Xishan Mountain. It is adjacent to Daoxiang Lake Park in the west, connected to Zhuangzhuang Reservoir in the east, and the municipal greening park belt in the north and south. The ecological canal around the lake is excavated in the park, and the low-lying land on the north side of Shangzhuang Reservoir 1500 mu is surrounded into an ecological park with wetland ecological characteristics, and wetland animals and plants are introduced to form a wetland landscape. At the same time, it can collect rainwater and purify the lake. There are lotus pond, reed pond, wild wetland plant exhibition area, waterfowl protection area, wetland ecological agriculture park and ecological water area around the park.

Reed in Cuihu wetland is a typical aquatic plant in northern China, and most wetland plant species in northern China are introduced. Reed swamp is a wild natural wetland landscape. In summer, reeds are swaying, tidbits are fluttering, and in the morning, it is smoky and foggy, which is suitable for the habitat and protection of aquatic animals and waterfowl.

There are more than 400 species of waterfowl in Swan Lake, Wild Duck Lake, River and other waters in the park, including more than 2,000 species of wild waterfowl, which are inhabited by national second-class protected animals such as pelicans, black swans, cranes, red-crowned cranes, egrets and herons. All kinds of herons, geese, ducks and waterfowl are all over the wetland, and at the same time, records of national first-class protected animals such as black storks and red-crowned cranes have been formed.
