Just returned from New Zealand, the longest journey in history-43 days. This trip can be divided into two parts. A family of three went around the island for ten days, which cost about 20 thousand, and then dad went back to work and moved bricks.

Mother and son stayed in a homestay in New Zealand and participated in a four-week study in the third semester of a local school (commonly known as micro-study abroad). My son has experienced the English teaching environment and colorful courses. My mother buys food and cooks in the local supermarket every day to accompany her to read and wander, and fully experience the daily life of the local people, killing two birds with one stone.

This part costs about 25,000 yuan, including tuition, rent, living expenses and weekend travel expenses. Forgive me for asking the price first every time I write a post, because sharing a super cost-effective trip is my favorite thing to do. As non-local tyrants, we also have the dream of traveling around the world!

Let's take some photos first. All the photos are taken with mobile phones, because for us, we are not professional photographers and we don't need all kinds of retouching software. Travel is to let us experience the real scenery. In fact, the world we see is more about the mind, and the mind has changed our outlook on life.

I saw the caravan that accompanied us for ten days. I drove this caravan around the North Island for ten days. I ate and lived on it and experienced a different trip.

It seems that my posts are all numbers. I want to tell you how to save money to realize your travel dream. In fact, we are not the kind of lovers who bear hardships and stand hard work and travel everywhere. We go out without self-abuse, without FB, and experience cost-effective projects with limited money.

For cheap air tickets, I often go to Hong Kong and Macau by train (air tickets there are generally much cheaper than those in Wuhan). Take the train sleeper to Shenzhen and fly to Auckland this time. When traveling abroad, I often walk about 2km, just to save traffic expenses (it is very convenient to use Google navigation).

We will not hesitate to use all the money saved to experience various projects, such as watching penguins, hot air balloons, skydiving and helicopter glaciers, because these are relatively few in China.

Like every trip I have, this trip started with a special air ticket.

On February 29th last year, 12, I accidentally found HNA's sailing promotion ticket. A trip from Shenzhen to Auckland, New Zealand in the summer vacation cost about 3,000 RMB, so I bought it without hesitation. The ticket for a family of three is 10000 RMB.

In New Zealand in the southern hemisphere, summer vacation is winter, which is the off-season of tourism. Buying air tickets in advance will be greatly discounted. When we are ready to leave, the air ticket has risen to more than 8 thousand round trip, so the cheap air ticket determines a cost-effective trip.

Similarly, in the off-season of the RV, the rent for ten days is 5,000 yuan. RV is a very common way of traveling abroad, so you can play anywhere, which is very free. But at night, they usually stay in the RV camp, fill their cars with oil and water, and then use the public toilets and kitchens in the camp to cook.

This is our camp. About 200 families go to 300 yuan every night. Provide charging piles to charge them, and then we can take a bath in the public kitchen and bathroom. It is very clean. Many foreigners are more economical than us. They only live in the camp once every two days.

Do you see that we are all wearing cotton-padded jackets and jackets? At this time, the temperature is about 8 to 10 degrees, and Wuhan is very hot. We found a place to spend the summer. In the summer of China in July, we took a skiing trip, which was the shooting place of The Lord of the Rings, to see if there was any feeling of deja vu.

But in fact, RV travel is not as romantic as you think. It's nothing like staying in a hotel. A lot of things have to be done by yourself. You must make your own bed and fold the quilt, and go to the coin laundry in the camp to wash clothes.

In order to save money, and because westerners' eating habits are mostly hamburgers, bread, and desserts, most of them cook their own meals because there is a kitchen in the car. This time, I specially prepared a small rice cooker and brought many condiments from China to comfort China's stomach.

What's particularly interesting is that when cooking in the public kitchens in the camp and people of all countries cook by themselves, the dishes of China people are the most complicated.

Every time I drive an RV through a town, I go to the supermarket to sweep the goods, so I know the local prices very well. Unlike ordinary group tours, you can experience the life of local people to the greatest extent.

Here, you will find that steak is not as expensive as sweet potato. Please consciously multiply the price by five (NZD 1 equal to 5 yuan RMB). Kiwifruit is very cheap, one or two yuan each.

Vegetarian food is expensive, and then no one eats animal offal, which is horribly cheap. New Zealand dollars can buy a lot of tripe, pig ears, beef hearts and Venetian beef. So we eat seafood, steak and lamb chops every day here, because vegetables are too expensive.

The size of the RV varies according to the number of people. One is bigger. This one may be six meters long.

I took this photo at the RV camp. You can see different sizes of RVs. The bigger the RV, the more expensive it is. We rented the last one, which was actually a modified Toyota Sea Lion. Two people can sleep above and two people can sleep below.

Generally, the width is about two meters, and domestic C photos can be opened. Driving an RV is not the hardest thing. The difficulty is that New Zealand drivers drive on the right and it takes some time to get used to it.

In addition, we usually buy full insurance when renting a car, so insurance companies usually pay for it, so don't worry. Foreigners have fewer cars and drive politely. Strictly observing traffic rules will not cause accidents.

New Zealand is a paradise for extreme sports. Here, you can take part in skydiving, bungee jumping and hot air ballooning. We chose to fly a cost-effective plane. We used to play hot air balloon and skydiving in Australia.

These air activities either do not exist in China or are extremely expensive. There are many flying schools in New Zealand, all of which have the experience of learning to fly a plane. The price is about 700 RMB. In addition to coaches and students, you can also take two passengers for free, which is equivalent to air sightseeing, with high cost performance.

You can't learn to fly a plane until you are sixteen, so your son can only be an audience. I wrote in my previous post that he had just turned 12 and had already participated in skydiving.

We hired a coach from China, and we are very satisfied. After coming down, my husband told me that flying is completely different from driving, but it is very enjoyable.

Basically, there are few students from China, the school environment is very relaxed, and the courses are rich and colorful, which is much more cost-effective than those domestic schools or institutions that organize summer camps or study tours. They are all children from China.

We rented a local hotel, bought food and cooked every day, stayed with our mother for a short time, and took our children to museums and beaches on weekends.

More than 20 thousand yuan includes tuition fees and all the expenses of our mother and son for 28 days of weekend accommodation, eating, drinking and having fun, including flying to the capital Wellington for four days.

China driver's license can rent a car in New Zealand, and C license can drive an RV. As I mentioned before, when we were in class in New Zealand, a mother and son shared a room with us. We made an appointment at home, but because of the different round-trip time of air tickets, we left separately in New Zealand.

The mother and son have never been abroad. Their mother is a stay-at-home mother and can't speak English. One of them flew to New Zealand with her children, went to school at the customs, and then returned to China alone with her children.

On the way by car, I also saw an old couple in their teens. It's been years. Their language is just a simple greeting, they will go out in an RV and ask for directions with translation software.
