1. Selection of orchid seedlings:

When choosing seedlings in the market, you should pay attention to whether the roots of orchids you buy are thick, strong, white and short. The developed root system is the embodiment of orchid's health. The most important thing is that orchids have many root tips and not too many wounds, because too many wounds are easy to infect bacteria in plant substances. When selecting seedlings, pay attention to whether the leaves are. Leaves are healthy and veins are clear. Whether it is hard or straight.

Second, materials suitable for orchid planting:

The most commonly used orchid is the old three-sample soil "fairy soil+bark+plant stone". This plant material has moderate pH value, slightly acidic, loose and breathable, good drainage performance and good moisturizing performance. Planting three kinds of materials is a valuable experience of predecessors in orchid protection.

In the last article on orchid cultivation, a flower friend said that the "old three" materials should be obtained through purchase. What can be replaced. According to my own experience, I also summed up a method of mixing plant materials suitable for orchid planting: mixing "bark+volcanic rock or weathered rock" into granular plant materials and adding 10% perlite. Three, planting matters needing attention:

(1) Before planting orchids, the roots should be trimmed properly and the dense roots should be combed. Tie the long roots into short knots. Prune old and dead roots.

(2) When selecting strong seedlings, do not soak and disinfect them. Orchids that grow well are more immune. Soaking in disinfectant water is easy to kill cyanobacteria in the cortex of orchid root.

(3) Spraying wet roots and using rooting water. Orchids need to dry the root wounds after pruning. When the roots are dried, they can be diluted by 800 to 1000 times with "indoleacetic acid" water, and sprayed on the roots and reed heads of wet orchids.

(4) Orchids are shallow-rooted plants. When planting, be careful not to bury it too deep. First, align the pseudobulb of orchids with potted seedlings of orchids, and fill in the planting materials. Then raise the pot seedlings about 2 to 3 centimeters. Shake the flowerpot to enrich the plant materials. Don't press the planting materials too hard. So as not to crush the root system by planting materials.

(5) The material of the flowerpot should highlight good air permeability and water permeability. The style of flowerpot suggests to use a special flowerpot for orchids with a long height. If the flowerpot is too wide and the plant material is filled too much, it will also affect the respiration of orchid roots.

Four, planting management:

Orchids planted should be kept in well-ventilated places with bright pipes. Flower soil is permeable when it is wet and dry. You can spray it three to five times a day to moisten the leaves of orchids.

You can move the basin in half a month. Move the orchid to a place where you can get 3 to 5 hours of light in the morning or evening. Avoid strong light at noon and keep good ventilation. Spray wet blades several times a day to increase the humidity of the small environment.

Orchids will not be fertilized for 2 months after replanting. Orchids can be sprayed with potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1500 times solution (it doesn't matter if the number of times is more) for about 30 days. At this time, the main function of "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" is to promote cell activity, improve the nutrient absorption efficiency of orchids and promote photosynthesis.

Summary: orchids are easy to grow, but difficult to manage. If the management of seedling selection, planting materials selection, flowerpot selection and later planting is in place, orchids will be easier to be potted.
