Prose: Pittosporum and Jasmine

A few days ago, I went to the supermarket to buy things. I see a small flower shop at the corner of the gate. There are flowers and green plants, such as roses, carnations, lilies, lavender, all over the sky, green radish, and abundant bamboo. Among them, there is a kind of green branches and leaves with white flowers the size of rice grains. The fragrance is clear and fresh.

When I came out after shopping, I saw a young woman buying flowers. What she was holding was exactly the same as what I said. I asked what the name of this flower was, and the lady who sold it smiled as calmly as the flower and replied: Molly.

Jasmine is white and fragrant, and everyone loves it and is full of praise. I first learned that these songs were "Jasmine" taught by the music teacher in the third grade of primary school, and I liked them from then on. Later, I further learned that this "Jasmine" is not only beautiful, but also the second national anthem of China, which shows how much jasmine is loved by Chinese people.

I once fantasized that if I committed suicide, I must find a good weather in a spring, wash myself, put on new clothes, dig a hole in a jasmine-blooming garden, pick many jasmine petals and scatter them in it, then sleep in and let the wind blow the flowers on the branches one by one to cover me until they are all buried.

Luckily, I met Molly here. Although I am a big man, I can't help buying a bunch of jasmine flowers. Take it back and put it in a vase on the table, and it will be refreshing in a minute. Suddenly, the lonely room has a youthful atmosphere of life and warm love. Especially when sleeping at night, put it on the stool next to the pillow and feel that breathing is sweet.

Sadly, a few days later, the flowers and bones have not completely opened their eyes, and all the leaves have withered. I changed the water and put it in a ventilated place, but it still didn't come back to life. Looking at that bunch of dead jasmine, my heart ached faintly, but I still didn't want to throw it away.

One morning a few days later, I was walking by the Qiao Song River. Breeze in Xu Lai, a jasmine-like fragrance comes to the nose. Suddenly, I was refreshed and my heart, spleen and lungs were moist. I thought it was an illusion, and I was still mourning for the dead Molly. However, the wind has been blowing and the fragrance of flowers has been hitting my nostrils. I stopped, and after a pause, the fragrance came again. I realized that this is not an illusion, but a reality! This is the scent of jasmine.

However, how can there be jasmine here? I think it's gardenia. Their smells are very similar. Although gardenias bloom a little early, the temperature is much warmer now than before, so it is not surprising that many flowers bloom ahead of time or even out of season.

I looked for it in the direction of rich flowers. At the water's edge, I saw a tree, as green as an evergreen tree, with a huge crown and a cactus shape. Its leaves are like loquat leaves, thistle leaves and peanut leaves. There are many white or beige flowers on it, which are bigger than rice grains. It looks a bit like jasmine, but it's obviously not jasmine. The breeze is leisurely, and the flowers are leisurely. I was completely intoxicated. I couldn't help but make up two poems: Pittosporum fragrant jasmine, drunk in the morning wind.

Naturally, I don't know the name of this flower. I opened the flower viewing software and scanned it. It means Pittosporum, with white or dark yellow-green, fragrant flowers and evergreen leaves. This is a famous foliage and fruit viewing plant. I compared it carefully, and the physical object is exactly the same as the picture and the text introduction.

I heard of Pittosporum for the first time and saw it for the first time. There is a road near the house, and there is also a river beside the road. I worked in a company a few years ago, and I have to go that way every morning and evening. Every April, when I walk to the river and get on the bridge, I will smell the familiar flowers. My depressed mood that I didn't wake up and didn't want to go to work was suddenly released and relaxed. I couldn't help but stop to see where the fragrance of flowers came from, but I didn't see it. I pass by here after work at night, and the moonlight has already filled the river. I have to hurry back to cook and wash clothes, and there is no time to find it. In this way, year after year has passed. Every April, as long as I pass by there in the morning and evening, my mood will be better, but I never know where this flower is hidden nearby, what is its name and what it looks like. I finally know this time, so I decided to see if it is the same as the pittosporum here. I saw it after I went. It is also a pittosporum.

I walked along the Qiaosong River, and in one place I saw a pittosporum tree with a huge crown and small flowers. Because there are many and dense flowers, the fragrance is more intense. It grows by the water, some branches and leaves are soaked in the water, and many petals are also soaked. I crouched down, scooped up a handful of water and put it on my nose to smell it. It smelled like Pittosporum. Someone is fishing on the other side. Bathed in the fragrant wind, looking at the quiet river in the morning, I feel particularly happy.

Molly showed no signs of life at all, as if she had died young. I stood silently with my eyes for a long time before I took it out of the vase and threw it into the garbage basket. How many people really care about flowers? I comfort myself that falling red is not heartless, but turning into spring mud protects flowers more.

When the moon came out, I went outside, picked some paulownia flowers by the river where I first smelled the flowers but didn't see the color, and put them in a vase when I came back. Although it is not a wild flower, it grows in the open air after all, and its adaptability is definitely much stronger than that of jasmine in the greenhouse. Otherwise, it has been several days, and they are still open, as fresh as when they were just picked, with a fresh, gentle and bright smile.
