Talk about Dell’s advantages and disadvantages

Based on my own experience of using Dell and Lenovo for nearly 10 years, the advantages of Dell computers are:

First, the configuration is relatively high. The configuration of Dell computers is compared to that of Lenovo at the same time. For example, in the Ben 3 era, Lenovo had many configurations with 64M of memory, but Dell generally had more than 128M of memory.

Second, the workmanship is better. Most of Dell Computer's commercial machines, starting from the D series, have metal casings. However, before Lenovo acquired THINKPAD, they were generally manufactured or designed by Taiwanese factories. Most of them had plastic casings and were not very stable.

The third is to facilitate maintenance. Dell computers generally come with a disassembly manual to facilitate self-maintenance. At the same time, Dell's designs are generally very easy to disassemble. For example, in the DELL E6400 series, you only need to remove one screw to replace the memory, wireless network card, USB drive, clean the fan, replace the CPU, etc. Only two hard drives can be removed. The screws and optical drive slot can be replaced with a battery, and a hard drive can also be added to serve as a dual hard drive. Other notebooks do not have such a convenient design.

Fourth, the warranty is convenient. Many of Dell's business machines can be purchased with comprehensive protection or three-year on-site service. With comprehensive protection, no matter what the hardware failure is, it can be directly replaced, reducing maintenance costs.

Fifth, there are many accessories. Dell's laptop accessories are easy to find, and many are interchangeable. For example, in the Dell E6 series, the battery, optical drive, power supply, etc. of the E6400 are common to those of the E6500. Another example is the D400's external optical drive, which can be used on D400, X300, D410, D420 and other models, reducing maintenance costs. And, it’s easy to order online.

Disadvantages:

I think Dell's shortcomings are mainly that the workmanship is not fine enough, and some 12-inch notebooks are heavier.
