The prerequisite for practicing Taoism - a deep belief in cause and effect
No matter who you are. Especially those who want to work hard to achieve enlightenment. We must first firmly believe in cause and effect. If you don’t believe in cause and effect. Act recklessly. Don't say it was unsuccessful. Santu cannot do without him. Buddha cloud. "If you want to know the cause of the past life, the recipient of this life is. If you want to know the result of the next life, the author of this life is." He said again. "Even if it lasts for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, the karma you have created will not be destroyed. Destiny will meet you when the time comes, and you will receive the retribution yourself." The Surangama Sutra says. "The cause and the earth are not true. The fruit will be distorted." Therefore, sowing good causes will produce good results. Sowing evil causes evil consequences. Sow and reap. Sow beans and reap beans. It is an inevitable truth. Talk about cause and effect. Let me tell you two stories to prove it.
1. The story of King Liuli’s execution of Shi Zhong. In front of Sakyamuni Buddha. There is a fishing village in Kapilava city. There is a big pool in the village. At that time there was a drought and the water dried up. All the fish in the pond are eaten by the villagers. Finally there was one biggest fish left. They were also cooked and killed. There was only one child who had never eaten fish. I only knocked the big fish's head three times that day to play. Later, when Sakyamuni Buddha came to this world. King Pasenadi believed in Buddhism very much. Marry a Buddhist girl and give birth to a prince. It's called Liuli. When Liuli was young, he studied in Kapiluoyue City where Shi Zhong lived. One day I sat on the Buddha's seat because of a play. He was scolded. Throw him down. Hold a grudge. When he becomes king. Then he led a large army to attack Kapila's city. Kill all the residents of the city. The Buddha had a headache for three days. All the great disciples asked the Buddha to try to rescue them. The Buddha said that fixed karma is difficult to change. The Venerable Moggallana used his miraculous power to capture five hundred members of Sakyamuni's family in an alms bowl in the air. Full of hope to rescue them. I don't know when I put it down. All turned into blood. Disciples, please ask the Buddha. The Buddha then told the story about the villagers eating fish in the past. At that time, Big Fish was the predecessor of the current Liuli King. The army he led. It’s the fish in the pond that day. The residents of Luoyuecheng who were killed now. It is the person who eats fish that day. Buddha himself is a child of that day. Because he knocked the fish on the head three times. So now I have to suffer from headache for three days. It’s hard to escape a certain career. So there are five hundred people in the Shi clan. Although he was rescued by the Venerable Moggallana. There is no way to escape life. Later, Prince Liuli fell into hell. Retribution for injustice. No expiration date. The cause and effect is really terrible.
2. The story of the wild fox. The old man Baizhang went to court one day. After getting down. Everyone has dispersed. Only one old man did not run away. Baizhang asked him what he was doing. he said. ‘I am not a human being. Really a wild fox spirit. In his previous life, he was the leader here. Because a scholar asked me, ‘Do great practitioners still fall into karma? ’ I said. ‘Do not fall into cause and effect. ’ So he fell. I have been a wild fox spirit for five hundred years. No way out. Please give me some mercy, monk. ’ Baizhang said. ‘Ask me. 'The old man said. ‘Excuse me, monk. Do great practitioners still fall into the cause and effect? ’ Baizhang replied. ‘Don’t be ignorant of cause and effect. ’ The old man had a great realization. He thanked him politely. ‘This is what the monk said. Make me transcend the fox body. I'm under the rock behind the mountain. I pray to the monk to send him as a deceased monk. ’ The next day Baizhang dug out a dead fox with his stick from the rocks in the back mountain. Then he was buried with the funeral ceremony. We listened to these two stories. Then we know for sure that cause and effect is terrifying. Even if you become a Buddha, you will inevitably suffer from headaches. Retribution doesn't feel good at all. It is really hard to escape from a fixed career. We should be more vigilant at all times. Be careful not to create causes.
Strictly observe the precepts
The first thing to do is to work hard and observe the precepts. Precepts are the foundation of supreme Bodhi. Concentration can only arise because of precepts. Only through concentration can one develop wisdom. If you practice without observing the precepts. Useless. There are four kinds of pure and clear teachings in the Surangama Sutra. Tell us. Those who practice samadhi without observing the precepts. Dust cannot come out. Even though there is much wisdom and meditation in front of you. They also fall into evil and heretical ways. You know the importance of keeping the precepts. A person who keeps the precepts. Long Tian supports. Awe outside the devil. People who break the rules. The big thief with ghost talk. Scan its footprints. Once upon a time, there was a land near Sanghalan in the country of Jibin. There is a poisonous dragon that often comes out to cause harm to the place.
There were five hundred Arahants gathered together. Use the power of meditation to drive him away. There's no way to drive him away. Later there was another monk. Nor does he enter meditation. He only said one word to the poisonous dragon. ‘The good and the good are far away from here. ’ The poisonous dragon ran away. The Arhats asked the monk what magical power he had to drive away the poisonous dragon. he said. ‘I don’t use the power of meditation. Always be cautious and disciplined. Guard the light ring. It's like a heavy ban. ’ Let’s think about it. The meditation power of five hundred Arhats. Not as good as a monk who strictly observes the precepts. Or cloud. The Sixth Patriarch said. ‘If you have peace of mind, why bother to keep the precepts? What's the use of Zen practice if you walk straight? ’ I’d like to ask you if your heart has become straight. For a month, Chang'e was naked and hugging you. Can you not be tempted? Someone insults and beats you unreasonably. Can you not be angry? You can not distinguish between enemies, relatives and hate. Are people right and wrong? It can all be done. It’s easy to open your mouth. Otherwise don't talk empty words.
Strengthen your confidence
I want to work hard to achieve enlightenment. First you need a strong confidence. Faith is the mother of merit and virtue. No matter what you do, you have no confidence. It can't be done well. We want life and death. Especially a strong faith is needed. The Buddha said that all living beings on the earth have the wisdom and virtue of the Tathagata. Just because of delusion and persistence. It cannot be proven. He also talked about various methods. To cure all sentient beings' mental ailments. We should believe that the Buddha’s words are true. Believe that all living beings can become Buddhas. But why don’t we become Buddhas? It's all because they haven't put in the necessary efforts to die according to the law. For example, we believe that soybeans can be used to make tofu. You don't make him. Soybeans will not turn into tofu on their own. Even if it is made. Plaster is not put in the right way. Tofu will also fail. If it can be ground and boiled to remove the residue. Put an appropriate amount of plaster. The decision can be made into tofu. The same goes for running the road. Of course, you cannot become a Buddha without practicing. Hard work is not as good as the method. Buddha cannot become a Buddha either. If you can practice according to the law. Never retreat or regret. Decide to become a Buddha. Therefore, we should firmly believe that we are originally Buddhas. We should also firmly believe that practicing according to the Dharma determines how to become a Buddha. Zen Master Yongjia said. ‘Confirm the truth. There is no law. The abi karma is destroyed in an instant. If you lie to all sentient beings. You invite the calamity of tongue dust and sand. ’ He is a compassionate old man. We must strengthen the confidence of future generations. That’s why I made such a grand oath.
Deciding on a career path
Having confidence. Then you have to choose a method to practice. Never look at Qin and Mu Chu. It doesn’t matter whether you recite Buddha’s name or not. It’s also good to recite mantras. It’s also good to practice Zen. Always identify one. Go straight to work. Never regret. Not successful today. Do the same thing tomorrow. Not successful this year. Do the same thing next year. Unsuccessful in this life. Do the same thing in the next life. As Old Man Weishan calls it. ‘If you can live your life without retreating. The Buddha's order decision can be expected. ’ Some people can’t make up their mind. Today I heard the good teacher say that it is good to recite the name of Buddha. Recite the Buddha's name for another two days. Tomorrow I will hear from a good teacher that it is good to practice Zen. I also participated in Zen for two days. Dong Nong Nong. West alley. Live your life until you die. I can't make anything famous. ’ Isn’t it unfair?
Methods of practicing Zen
There are many ways to learn Zen. All Buddhist masters regard meditation as the supreme and wonderful door. During the Surangama Conference, the Buddha ordered Manjushri to choose Yuantong. The perfect ears of Guanyin Bodhisattva are the first. We must listen to our own nature. It’s Zen practice. This is the Zen Hall. We should also talk about the method of meditation.

For daily use. They all walk in the path. It's not a dojo. There is no need for a meditation hall. It’s not just sitting that is Zen. The so-called Zen Hall. It’s called sitting meditation. It is only designed for us sentient beings in the last days who have profound obstacles and shallow wisdom.
To sit in meditation, you need to know how to take good care of your body and mind. If you are not good at adjusting. If you are small, you will get sick. The worst is obsession. What a pity. Walking incense and sitting incense in the meditation hall. The intention is to regulate the body and mind. In addition, there are many ways to regulate the body and mind. Let’s briefly talk about this selection.
Sitting cross-legged. It is advisable to sit upright and follow nature. Don't try to straighten your waist. Otherwise the anger will rise. There will be a lot of eye mucus afterwards. Bad breath. Not thinking about food. Or even vomiting blood. Don't shrink back and lower your head. Otherwise, you will easily become drowsy.
It’s like feeling dizzy. Keep your eyes open. Straighten your back. Move your hips slightly. Drowsiness will disappear naturally.
Study too eagerly. When you feel irritable. It is advisable to let go of Wan Yuan. Also put down your kung fu. Rest for about half an inch of incense. You will gradually become comfortable. Then mention studying again. otherwise. Over time and over time. Will become irritable and irritable. Or even crazy and possessed.
Zazen. When some are useful. There are many realms. It’s impossible to say. But don't get attached to it. It won't hinder you. As the saying goes, ‘don’t be surprised if you see strange things. The blame is self-defeating. ’ Even if you see demons and ghosts coming to harass you.
And leave him alone. Don't be afraid either. It means seeing Sakyamuni Buddha come to rub your forehead and give you a prophecy. And leave him alone. Don't be happy. Shurangama said. "If you don't practice the Sacred Heart, you will be in a good state. If you practice the Sacred Interpretation, you will suffer evil from the crowd."
Start with practice - get to know the host and guest
How to start with practice. During the Surangama meeting, the Venerable Kochenna mentioned the word guest dust. This is where we start our initial study. he said. "It's like a traveler. He or she checks into a hotel. Either lodging or food. All things are done after lodging and food. Pretending for a future. Don't forget to live in peace. If you are the real master, you have nothing to do. Think like this. If you don't stay as a guest, you won't stay as a master. You can't live there. It's called Keyi. The light rises into the sky, and the dust is shaken. "For the sake of dust." Guest dust is a metaphor for delusion. The main metaphor is empty. Resident owner. I don’t come or interact with guests. Metaphor for the eternal nature. It does not arise and die suddenly according to delusions. It is said that one has no intention of caring about all things. Why not be surrounded by everything. The dust shakes itself. It doesn't hinder the clear and silent void. It means that delusions will arise and die on their own. This is not hindered by the immovable nature of Ruru. The so-called single-mindedness does not give rise to anything. Nothing is to blame.
The word "客" is thicker. The word dust is thinner. Beginners must first understand the ‘host’ and ‘guest’. ’ I won’t be distracted by delusions. Progress understands ‘emptiness’ and ‘dust’. ’ Delusions can’t get in the way. The so-called knowing is not unfair. If you can understand it carefully. The way to learn. Half thought.
Huotou and Suspicion
The ancient ancestors speak directly to people's hearts. See your nature and become a Buddha. Such as the peace of mind of Patriarch Bodhidharma. The Sixth Patriarch only talks about seeing nature. It's just a matter of taking responsibility. No one looked at Huantou. to the later ancestors. Seeing that people's hearts are not ancient. You can't give up. Use more tricks. Always count other people's treasures. Make it your own treasure. They had to set up separate gates. Each has his hands and eyes. That's why scholars look at the topic.
There is a lot to talk about. Such as ‘All things are unified. Where to return. ’ ‘Before the parents were alive. How I am. 'etc. But who is the name of the Buddha? The most common.
What is Huatou? Words are words. The head is before speaking. It is a sentence to recite ‘Amitabha’. Before reading. Just Huatou. The so-called huatou. That is when a thought has not yet arisen. A thought comes into being. It's the end of the story. Before this thought occurred. It’s called no birth. No restlessness. Not drowsy. Restless. Not in vain. It's called immortality. All the time. Single. A thought comes back to light. This ‘neither birth nor death. ’ It’s called watching Hua Tou. Or take care of Hua Tou.
Before looking at the huatou, you must first raise your suspicions. Suspicion is a crutch for watching Hua Tou. What is suspicion? For example, ask who is chanting Buddha’s name. Everyone knows that they recite it themselves. But say it with your mouth. Or read it with your heart. If you read it orally. He still had a mouth when he fell asleep. Why can't you read it? If you think carefully. What is the heart like? But nowhere to be found. So don't understand. Then I started to have slight doubts about 'who'. But not thick. The finer the better. Anytime, anywhere. Just take care of this belief. Keep looking like running water. Don't have second thoughts. If there is any doubt. Don't touch him. The doubt is gone. Lift it slightly again. When you first use your mind, it will definitely be more effective when you are still than when you are moving. But don't be discriminating. Never mind whether he is capable or not. Don't worry about whether he is moving or still. Use your gong wholeheartedly and do well.
The four words "who is chanting Buddha's name". The most important thing is the word ‘who’. The other three words just describe the greatness. Such as who is wearing clothes and eating. Who is the one who urinates? Who is the one who fights ignorance? Who can know and feel? Whether walking, standing, sitting or lying down. The word ‘who’ was spoken in one fell swoop. It is easiest to have doubts. You don't need to think over and over again to predict your intentions. Therefore, the word "who" is Huantou. It is really a wonderful way to practice Zen. But do not use the word "who" or the four words "who is reciting the Buddha's name" as the name of the Buddha. It is not about thinking about who is going to find the Buddha. It's called suspicion. There are four words: "Who is chanting the Buddha's name?" I can't stop talking. It is better to recite Amitabha Buddha's merits. Waiting for random thoughts. Looking here and there is called suspicion. The more I think about it, the more I have delusions. It's like trying to rise but falling instead. Must not know.
The doubts expressed by beginners are very rough. Sometimes it stops and sometimes it continues. Suddenly ripe and suddenly raw. Not suspicious. It can only be called thinking. Gradually, the madness was withdrawn. The idea is also a bit more manageable. It's called ginseng. Then gradually he becomes proficient in kung fu. Do not doubt but doubt yourself. I don’t even feel like I’m sitting somewhere. Nor does he know that there is a physical and mental world. Mere doubts are present. Non-stop. This is called suspicion.
That's why you took such a strong oath to guarantee us.
There are two types of difficulty in learning

A common problem with the beginning of using one's heart. It’s just that I can’t let go of my delusional habits. Ignorance. Gong Gao. envy. obstacle. Greed, anger and crazy love. Lazy and delicious. Right and wrong are me. A full belly. That can correspond to the Tao. Or some are born as a young man. Never forget habits. Some grievances are unbearable. Not even the slightest bit of suffering. That can work hard. He did not think about his master, Shakyamuni Buddha. Who is a monk or someone who knows a few words? Then I looked for chapters and excerpts. Interpret the ancient sayings. He also thinks he is great. When I was born, I was slow. Encountering a serious illness. He complained endlessly. Or the 30th of the twelfth lunar month arrives. Then he was in a hurry. Knowledge and understanding of life. Useless at all. I regretted it too much.
A person with a bit of Taoism. I can't find a place to start. Or have delusions of fear. It can't be removed. Worry and worry all day long. Self-pity has deep karma. Therefore, you lose your mind. Maybe you have to fight against your delusions. He raised his fists angrily to cheer up. Stand tall and open your eyes. Like something serious. Fight to the death against delusion. But I can't fight despite my delusions. It made me vomit blood and go crazy. Or fear of failure. Unexpectedly, ghosts have already been born. ’ It can’t be empty even if it’s empty. Enlightenment and failure to understand. Or someone is seeking enlightenment. That knowledge seeks enlightenment. Want to become a Buddha. It's all a big delusion. Shafei rice book. Even in the Year of the Donkey, I will not be able to achieve enlightenment. Maybe I encountered one or two branches of Shizuka. It brings joy. That's just a blind turtle drilling a hole in wood. Encountered by chance. Not real effort. The demon of joy has already possessed my heart. Or you may feel peaceful and happy in silence. It doesn't work when moving. So avoid noise and go to silence. He has long been a dependent of the two demon kings. And so on. Lots and lots. It’s really difficult when you’re trying to learn for the first time and can’t find the right path. Awakening without license. Then they will be scattered and unable to leave the hall. ’ There is no awareness. And he sat in the stagnant water and was immersed in death.
It is easy to put your mind down at the beginning - put it down and just mention a thought
Although it is difficult to learn. But it’s easy to get to the bottom of it. What is the initial intention of Yi? There is no such thing as coincidence. Just put it down. Put something down. It means letting go of all the worries of ignorance. How can I let it go? We also send those from past lives. Try scolding that dead body. He didn't get angry either. Give him a few blows. He didn't fight back either. I don't want to fight those who are usually easy to fight against ignorance. No more fame and fortune. Many of the usual habits are gone. Nothing is different. Let go of everything. Everyone, please join in. This body of ours. Not even a breath. Just a dead body. That’s why we can’t let it go. Just because you value it. Right and wrong arise out of people and me. Choose between love and hate. If it is determined that this body is a dead corpse. Don't value it. Don’t think of it as me at all. There is nothing left to let go of. Just let it go. At 26:00. Whether walking, standing, sitting or lying down. Movement and quietness. Everything inside and outside the body is just a doubt. Calmly and constantly doubt. No thoughts at all. One sentence. Like a long sword leaning against the sky. The devil comes and kills the devil. The Buddha came and beheaded. Don't be afraid of any delusions. Something bothers you. That one divides movement into stillness. There is space for that. If you are afraid of delusions. Another layer of delusion. Feel pure. It is no longer pure. Afraid of failure. Already fallen into existence. Want to become a Buddha. He has already entered the devil's way. The so-called transporting water and firewood. Nothing but a wonderful way. Hoeing and farming. Always Zen. It’s not about sitting with your legs crossed and meditating all day long. Only those who work hard can be regarded as doing the right thing.
The difficulty of always working hard

What is the difficulty of always working hard. Always use it carefully until real doubts arise. There is a feeling and a photo. Still a matter of life and death. Without awareness or license. Lost and died again. It's really difficult to get to this point. Many people are here to enjoy themselves. Standing on the top of a hundred-foot pole. There is no way to progress. It’s because we’ve reached this state. Gain some wisdom in concentration. Understand several public cases from the ancients. Then let go of your suspicion. I think I have great enlightenment. Recite poems and compose verses. Eyes flashing and eyebrows raised. Called good knowledge. Little did he know that he was possessed by the devil. Another person mistakenly met Bodhidharma’s ‘outer breath conditions’. There is no breath in my heart. The heart is like a wall. You can enter the Tao. ’ and the Sixth Patriarch’s ‘not thinking about goodness. Think no evil. At that time, that was the true face of the Reverend Ming. ’ meaning. So the ultimate rule is to sit on a dead tree rock. This kind of people regard the city as a treasure. Recognize a foreign place as home. The mother-in-law burned the nunnery. Just scolding such dead men.
The easy thing that always comes from the heart - do it carefully
What is the easy thing that always comes from the heart. Until then just don’t get complacent. Don’t drop out. Do it continuously. The denser and denser. The subtler among the subtler. The time has come. The bottom of the barrel will fall off naturally. If or not. Find a good teacher to pull out the nails and wedge them out.
Master Hanshan sang the clouds. ‘High on the top of the mountain. Looking around is extremely boundless. Sit quietly and be ignored. The lonely moon shines on the cold spring. There is no moon in the spring. The moon is in the blue sky. Chant this song. There is no Zen in the song. 'The first two sentences. That is to say, it is normal to be alone. Not everything. The whole earth is bright and bright. No obstacles at all. The next four sentences. It means that it is really like a wonderful body. Ordinary people cannot recognize it. Even the Buddhas of the three generations cannot find my place. Therefore, it is said that no one knows it. Three sentences about the lonely moon shining on the cold spring. It is convenient for him to reach this state. The last two sentences. Afraid of being recognized as the moon. Therefore, we are specially reminded. All this is said. It's not Zen.
Conclusion
I just said a lot. It's also a joke. Take a break. Whatever is said. All have no real meaning. Good picks up people. If it’s not a stick, drink it. There is such a thing as Rosso. But things are not what they used to be. I have to force myself to point to the moon. Everyone, please join in. Who exactly is it referring to? Who is Yue? ginseng.
A warning about Zen meditation
The mind is the Buddha. Buddha is enlightenment. This awareness. All living Buddhas are equal. No difference. Empty and empty. Not subject to one law. There is no way to prove it. Smart and full of virtue. Wonderful use of Hengsha. No fake certification. Just because all sentient beings are lost in life and death. Go through a long tribulation. Greed, anger and crazy love. Delusion and persistence. The pollution is deep. As a last resort, I have to talk about practice and prove it. The so-called cultivators. The ancients called it an ominous thing. Use it as a last resort.
This time we hit seven. Already three and a half seven. Three and a half seven to go. Next three and a half seven. The body and mind are more mature. Learning is now easier than before. Don't miss the chance. It must be within the next three and a half seven. Get to the bottom of it. Inventive mind. Just live up to this rare opportunity.
Over the past twenty days. All day long, you all. Get up early and go to bed late. Study hard. As a result, there are no four realms. One. There is still some confusion at the end of the road. I don't like Hua Tou. Confused. Take a nap with the crowd. Not just delusions. Just drowsy and swaying. both. Hua Tou looks good. I have some confidence. But he held on to a piece of knocking tile. Reciting "Who is reciting the Buddha's name?" This huatou became the huatou of reciting it. I thought it would arouse doubts and gain enlightenment. Little did I know that this was the intention at the end of the words. It is the law of birth and death. In the end, we cannot reach the place where a single thought has no birth. For the time being. It can be used. If you insist on the ultimate truth, there is no time for enlightenment. The reason why many people in recent times make mistakes is that they can't take care of the first thought. From the beginning of the thought, I suddenly saw the state of calmness and calmness. Some feel light and lifted up, some feel joy when they see cute people, some feel lust after seeing scary situations. You must know that these are all diseases. Some have relatively light karma and are on the right track. At this point, it's time to pick up the energy and move forward. But there are many roadblocks in front of the dead wood rock.
The above four states are all diseases. I will give you a remedy. The first is for people who have too much delusion and lethargy. When you see that there is less delusion, you can't forget it. When you can't think of it, you can see that there is no thought. The second thing is to look at the words. Who is chanting the Buddha's name? At the end of the sentence, the person who regards the law of birth and death can also use the above meaning to see that there is no thought. The third aspect is to observe the non-thought. When you encounter people in any realm, you will only care about the Buddha and the demons. There will be nothing wrong with them. Refreshing and refreshing. People who are at ease physically and mentally should be like the ancients who said, "Everything comes to one place."
’ From the beginning to the extreme. Until the high mountains stand. Traveling deep under the sea. Then let go of Zongheng.

Talk about practice. Talk about not practicing. It's all empty talk. You and I have understood this period of our own thoughts. Nothing happened at the moment.
