Li Bai
His ancestral home is Chengji, Longxi (southwest of today's Jingning, Gansu). At the end of the Sui Dynasty, his ancestors lived in Suiye (near Tokmak, northern Kyrgyzstan). When he was young, he moved with his father to Qinglian Township, Changlong County, Mianzhou (now Jiangyou, Sichuan). At the age of 25, he "said farewell to relatives and traveled far away" and left Shu with a sword. Tianbao initially served in the Imperial Academy, but was slandered by the powerful and left Chang'an in just over a year. During the Anshi Rebellion, he served as an aide to King Yong Lin. Because Lin was defeated in Xunyang Prison, he was banished to Yelang, but he was pardoned and returned to the east. In his later years, he went to his uncle, Li Yangbing, who ordered him to Dangtu. He later died in Dangtu and was buried in Longshan. In the twelfth year of Tang Yuanhe (817), Fan Chuanzheng, the observer of Xuanshechi, moved his tomb to Qingshan according to Li Bai's last wish of "aiming at Qingshan" during his lifetime. There are thirty volumes of "Collected Works of Li Taibai" in circulation. Li Bai spent most of his life in the prosperous Tang Dynasty under Xuanzong's rule, that is, during the Kaiyuan and Tianbao years. Among the more than 900 poems handed down by Li Bai, most of them clearly express his contempt for feudal aristocrats, his exposure of decadent politics, his sympathy for the suffering of the people, and his praise of the magnificent mountains and rivers of the motherland. At the same time, due to the serious influence of feudal ruling ideology, many of Li Bai's works often reveal the negative emotions of Taoism, life is like a dream, carpe diem, and Confucianism, "if you are poor, you can live alone." Li Bai is a great poet along with Du Fu in the Tang Dynasty of my country. His poems have a majestic and bold style, rich imagination, natural language flow, and harmonious and changeable melodies. He is good at absorbing nutrients and materials from folk songs and myths to form his unique magnificent colors, which is a new peak of positive romantic poetry since Qu Yuan. His poems are all excellent in all styles, among which he is best at seven-character songs and seven-character quatrains.
Li Ke has never been an official. He is a big businessman with great cultural accomplishment. He cares about the children of his family. Very demanding. Li Bai was Li Ke's 12th son. He was very smart and studied very hard since he was a child. Li Ke loved him very much and trained him carefully.
When Li Bai was 5 years old, Li Ke guided him to recite the poems of Sima Xiangru, a famous writer in the Han Dynasty, and often said to him: "My son, you have to strive for our Li family. I hope you will also become a poet in the future." A man as accomplished as Sima Xiangru." Li Bai kept his father's ardent expectations in mind and determined to be a writer who surpassed Sima Xiangru.
When Li Bai was 10 years old, he began to write and study Ci Fu. He was very serious in his creation, carefully considering every word and sentence, and was meticulous. He remembered that when he was studying in Elephant Er Mountain in Meizhou, he once skipped school and came back. He passed by a stream and saw an old lady grinding an iron pestle (a tool for pounding rice) beside the stream. Li Bai asked the old lady what she was grinding it for, and the old lady replied He said: "Grind into a needle." Li Bai thought, if I study Ci and Fu, as long as I have this spirit, there will be no problem surpassing Sima Xiangru. (Li Bai has been a very smart child since he was a child. When he was 5 years old, little Li Bai was sitting in front of the window and began to recite famous articles from his predecessors loudly, shaking his head. In just two or three times, he could effortlessly recite The content in the book was well understood. Because Li Bai always did his homework well, the teacher liked Li Bai very much and often praised him in front of the children. However, Li Bai was also a playful child at that time, just like other children. , it is inevitable that he has some shortcomings. One day, while the teacher was still giving a lecture, he became distracted while listening. His big eyes stared out of the window, and his mind unexpectedly remembered the story of the golden carp that his mother told him last night. Li Bai thought: "Those little fish are so beautiful wearing clothes with golden scales and shining in the sunlight. But will their beauty attract bad guys? If they are caught, they will not be able to be free. The ground is swimming, how pitiful. "Look, Li Bai began to fall into the fantasy world he had spun. The teacher saw Li Bai's stunned look and knew that he was not paying attention to the class, so he stopped the get out of class and said angrily: "Li Bai, Stand up and repeat what I just said." Li Bai suddenly woke up and stood up hurriedly, but couldn't say a word. "The students are all laughing at me!" Li Bai's face turned red and he felt embarrassed. Awesome. On the way home from school, Li Bai was still angry with himself. Suddenly, he found a white-haired old woman grinding a very thick iron rod by a clear stream. He worked hard, and big drops of sweat rolled down the old woman's forehead, but the old woman just raised her hand to wipe the sweat with her sleeve, and continued to grind the big iron rod. Li Bai saw the old woman working so hard. Grinding an iron rod, I feel very curious.
So he ran forward and came to the old woman's side. While gently pulling the corner of her clothes, he said politely: "Hello, mother-in-law. Why are you sharpening this big iron rod?" The old woman continued to sharpen her iron rod attentively, and said without looking back: "I, I want to grind it into a thin embroidery needle." Li Bai's eyes widened, and he pouted and said: "So Can a thick iron rod be ground into a needle?" The old woman turned to look at Li Bai. Seeing his disbelief, she stopped what she was doing, knelt down and said to Li Bai kindly: "Good boy, As long as you work hard, an iron rod can be ground into an embroidery needle!" Li Bai nodded vigorously as if he suddenly understood a profound truth. This incident left a deep impression on Li Bai and had a positive impact on his future study and life. Later, whenever he encountered difficulties in his studies, he would naturally think of the teachings of "As long as you work hard, an iron rod can be ground into a needle." Then he would cheer up, muster up courage, and work hard unremittingly. For a period of time, in order to concentrate on his studies, he even moved to a Taoist temple to study hard in peace of mind. It was with this spirit that he read a large number of books, which laid a solid foundation for his future success in poetry creation. )
Li Bai followed this wish and studied basic training diligently. One day, after several revisions, he finished writing a poem and happily showed it to his father. He thought that if he wrote well, he would definitely be praised by his father. Unexpectedly, after reading it, his father was very dissatisfied and said to him: "Your writing of this poem is too poor. It has neither momentum nor literary talent. But don't be discouraged. You should continue to work hard."
< p> Li Bai nodded: "I must do it according to father's request." Returning to the study, he threw the manuscript into the stove and burned it. Then he re-conceived and re-created the poem three times in a row, but was not satisfied with any of them, so he had to burn them all. It was not until the fourth time that he wrote two more satisfactory pieces, namely "Fu on Farewell" and "Fu on Hate". "Nian Farewell Fu" was later lost, but "Nuang Hen Fu" still exists and is collected in "Collection of Li Taibai" compiled by Song Minqiu of Song Dynasty.Farewell to Wang Lun
Li Bai liked to visit famous mountains and rivers very much. He traveled many times to the north and south of the Yangtze River and up and down the Yellow River. The territory of our great motherland is almost covered with Li Bai’s footprints. Those brilliant mountain flowers emit bursts of fragrance, and those happy birds chirp. In Li Bai's eyes, nature is full of poetry and painting, and it is a world of various expressions. Therefore, he often travels to various places. One day, he received a letter written to him by a man named Wang Lun. The letter read: "Sir, do you like to play? We have ten miles of peach blossoms here. Do you like to drink, sir? We have thousands of hotels here. Please come to our Jing County in southern Anhui to play." Li Bai was very happy after reading this invitation letter. Immediately pack your luggage and set off for Jingxian County. But after arriving in Jing County, Li Bai looked around for a long time and didn't see any ten-mile peach blossoms, let alone Wanjia Hotel. While he was wondering, a man dressed as a villager came forward and said, "Mr. Li Bai, it's such an honor to meet you. I am Wang Lun." Wang Lun then explained: "The ten-mile peach blossom mentioned in my letter refers to the ten-mile peach blossom. There is a Peach Blossom Pond outside, and Wanjia Hotel means a hotel owned by a person named Wan." Li Bai laughed after hearing this. The two people became good friends like this. Wang Lun invited Li Bai to stay at his home for a period of time, asked his wife to cook a lot of local meals, and also brought out the fine wine that had been brewed for many years to entertain Li Bai warmly. They had a great time chatting while eating. Later, Li Bai stayed at several friends' houses nearby for a few days. But there are still many important things waiting for Li Bai to do. So after staying for a few days, Li Bai decided to leave. But in order not to cause trouble to Wang Lun, Li Bai did not bid farewell to Wang Lun specifically. He planned to take a boat home quietly. Unexpectedly, just when Li Bai had boarded the boat and the boat was about to set off, Wang Lun arrived. You must know that if you take one step slower, it will be too late. Li Bai heard Wang Lun and the villagers holding hands and singing a farewell song for him while tapping their feet to the rhythm. Li Bai was surprised and happy. He didn't expect that Wang Lun would come to the river to see him off with so many villagers. These people were so kind to him. He felt his heart heat up and almost shed tears. In this way, Li Bai composed a very famous poem called "A Gift to Wang Lun". The last two sentences of the poem read: "The water in Peach Blossom Pond is a thousand feet deep, but it is not as deep as Wang Lun's gift to me." It means: "Even if the water in Peach Blossom Pond is as deep as a thousand feet, it is not as deep as Wang Lun's gift to me."
”
Why is this poem dedicated to Wang Lun so beautiful and moving, and why is it so widely circulated? Because it expresses the pure and simple friendship between a great poet and ordinary people. This is why There is a very important reason why Li Bai has been loved by the people for thousands of years.
There is a mysterious legend about Li Bai’s birth. It is said that the night before Li Bai’s mother gave birth to Li Bai. She had a very strange dream. What did she dream about? It turned out that she dreamed of a very beautiful starry sky, and it was hard to see how many shining stars were blinking at her. However, there is still a very special star that attracted Li Bai's mother's attention. This is the brightest star that rises first in the western sky in the autumn evening. It is called Taibai Star, which is what we call the morning star today. It was so dazzling that it suddenly outshone other stars in the night sky. Just as Li Bai's mother raised her head to look at the Taibai Star and admired its brightness, the Taibai Star suddenly fell from the sky and fell into Li Bai's body. At this time, Li Bai's mother felt a pain in her stomach, so a fat little life was born. Because of this dream of Taibai Star, her parents decided to name their cute baby Li Bai, whose nickname was Taibai. When Li Bai grew up, in order to realize his lofty ideal of helping the king to govern the country and help the poor people do more good deeds, he used his poems to express his loyalty to the motherland and his love for the people, inspiring himself to fight against various difficulties and achieve success. Li Bai is really like a bright white star, shining his light on our way forward.
In the early years of Tianbao, when Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty first favored Yang Yuhuan, Li Bai met him. He Zhizhang introduced Li Bai to Tang Xuanzong. The emperor was so impressed by Li Bai's poems that he summoned Li Bai in the Jinluan Palace. When the poet walked up the steps, Tang Xuanzong actually stepped forward to greet Li Bai and talked about that time. Regarding political affairs, Li Baineng wrote a "He Fan Shu" on the spot according to Tang Xuanzong's wishes, and while talking to Xuanzong eloquently, he kept writing down. Tang Xuanzong was very happy and prepared a bowl with his own hands. The soup was given to Li Bai, and he was appointed Hanlin from then on.
One night, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty took his favorite concubine Yang Yuhuan to watch four precious peonies transplanted to the Xingqing Lake in Chenxiang Pavilion. , they walked along the long embankment, followed by an empty chariot and a group of outstanding Liyuan disciples. They sang and danced in the fragrance of flowers and moonlight. When Li Guinian was preparing to sing, Tang Xuanzong said: "Reward for honors." Flower, to the concubine, how can we sing the old words again with this love and this scene? "He asked Li Guinian to give it to Li Bai with a golden flower paper, and asked Li Bai to quickly write lyrics (that is, a seven-character poem that goes with singing). Who would have thought that Li Bai was lying in a restaurant with a few friends at this time. Li Guinian quickly used it The cold water awakened him, and he asked people to carry Li Bai into Xingqing Palace. Li Bai, who was half drunk and half awake, wrote three "Qing Ping Diao":
The clouds think of the clothes, the flowers think of the face, the spring breeze blows the threshold and the dew is rich. .
If I hadn't seen it at the top of the jade mountain, I would have seen it under the moonlight at Yaotai.
A branch of red dew and clouds and rain in Wushan would be in vain. It's like, the poor flying swallow is leaning on the new makeup.
The famous flowers are in love with each other, and the king looks at them with a smile.
Explanation: The spring breeze is full of hatred, and the agarwood pavilion leans on the railing in the north.
Of course Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty was happy to see that the new words were good, but he thought that Li Bai's ancient poems were otherworldly and his verses were not common. He had already sung three seven-character verses. He didn't know how good he was at writing five-character poems, so he asked Li Bai to He wrote ten five-character poems titled "Enjoyment in the Palace"
Li Bai was drunk and understood that the emperor was testing his skills, so he said to Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty: "Unfortunately, I am drunk today. Your Majesty has given me fearless courage, so that I can give full play to my talents.
The emperor smiled: "Okay!" "He asked two chamberlains to support the swaying Li Bai, and then asked two chamberlains to hold down the manuscript paper with Zhu Si as the column.
Li Bai ordered: "Yang Guozhong, give me the ink quickly! Gao Lishi, take off my boots!
Yang Guozhong was the brother of Concubine Yang, and Gao Lishi was the most favored eunuch at that time. These two were the emperor's confidants, and the ministers in the court had no right to be so rude. Isn't Li Bai so arrogant that he didn't want it? The brain is gone! However, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty was in a particularly happy mood at that time, and seeing that Li Bai's verses could be written so perfectly while drunk, he asked Yang Guozhong and Gao Lishi to serve Li Bai.
Gao Lishi took off Li Bai's boots, and Li Bai sat down at the table. Yang Guozhong held the prepared ink. Li Bai took the pen and pondered for a moment, then he brushed and wrote ten more "Chapters for Music in the Palace" without stopping.
Tang Xuanzong was very happy after reading it, and immediately asked the musicians to compose the music and let the musicians sing.
How could Yang Guozhong and Gao Lishi bear this tone? Although they served Li Bai on the surface, they had cursed Li Bai countless times in their hearts and were waiting for an opportunity to deal with Li Bai. ?
Li Bai fell asleep after writing the poem. Li Guinian sang Qingping tune to Li Bai's poems. Yang Yuhuan saw that those poems were all praising his beauty, so he enjoyed the flowers with Xuanzong before going back.
Two days later, when Yang Yuhuan was singing the Qingping tunes by himself, Gao Lishi took the opportunity and said: "I thought the empress hated Li Bai so much, how could you sing his lyrics?" ?"
Yang Yuhuan asked strangely: "How can he, a Hanlin bachelor, make me hate him so much?"
Gao Lishi said: "The second song " "Qing Ping Tiao" says, "Who is similar to the Han Palace? Pity Feiyan Yi Xinzhuang." Doesn't that compare you to Zhao Feiyan who messed up the Han Palace? "
Yang Yuhuan makes sense after thinking about it? , From then on, whenever Tang Xuanzong wanted to reuse Li Bai, Yang Yuhuan was always on the side to stop him.
Li Bai waited for a long time without seeing the emperor reuse him, so he guessed that someone must be causing trouble, so he simply resigned from Tang Xuanzong's Hanlin job, which could only make the emperor happy. Although Tang Xuanzong cherished Li Bai's talents, nothing was as important as Yang Yuhuan. Since she hated Li Bai, she had no choice but to reward Li Bai with a lot of gold and let him travel around the capital.
From then on, Li Bai traveled around on his donkey. When he arrived in Huayin, he was drunk and wanted to climb a mountain. He passed by the Huayin County Yamen Gate but did not get off the donkey. The county magistrate did not know Li Bai. When he saw that a common man dared to ride a donkey into the county government office, he was furious. He ordered Li Bai to be arrested in the lobby and asked him: "Who are you? How dare you be so rude?"
< p>At that time, Li Bai took over and wrote a strange confession. He did not write his name and place of birth, but only wrote: "I once wiped my mouth with the emperor's handkerchief; the emperor personally prepared soup for me; Yang Guozhong held an inkstone for me; Gao Lishi took his place for me. I took off my boots; I can still ride a horse in front of the emperor's gate, but I can't ride a donkey in front of Huayin County."The county magistrate was surprised and ashamed, and hurriedly bowed to Li Bai and thanked him: "I didn't know that Hanlin was here. Disrespect, disrespect!"
Li Bai laughed loudly, mounted his donkey and continued to wander around the world.
During the Qianyuan period of Emperor Suzong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai, who was over sixty years old, was still traveling around the world on a donkey. One day, he was walking on the way to Jinling. The hot weather made him so thirsty that he suddenly saw a small flag in front of a house in front of him with the word "Jiaju" written on it. Li Bai arrived in front of the door and saw a vinegar shop. He thought that if there was no wine to drink, it would be good to drink some vinegar to quench his thirst. ?
Li Bai tied the donkey to a tree and walked slowly into the store. When he saw it, there was already a person sitting in the store, and he looked like a seventh-grade sesame official. Li Bai was too lazy to pay attention to him, so he went straight to the counter and said to the store:
One person adds one ding to each bite, there is a temple in the bamboo forest but no monk,
A woman holds a son in her arms, twenty-one Born at the time of day and unitary day.
The store owner is a scholar, and he knew it was a riddle in a poem. After a while, he figured out the answer was "How jealous". So he hurriedly cupped his hands and replied with a smile: "This is Shanxi mature vinegar, a good product from the North. Guests can taste it!"
Li Bai was very happy. When he met a close friend in the vinegar shop, he started chatting with the shopkeeper while drinking. After a while, Li Bai finished drinking the vinegar and returned the vinegar pot to the shopkeeper and said:
A bird in Eshan is not there, but a woman in the west is loved by everyone.
Swallow a big mouth and a small mouth. If the law goes away, water will not come back.
The store owner immediately figured out the answer was "I want to go back" and said goodbye to Li Bai. "My guest, I wish you a safe journey!" Li Bai nodded and smiled and said, "Thank you!"
The county magistrate saw that Li Bai was chatting and laughing with the store owner from the moment he entered the store to the time he left. He didn't understand what he was talking about, but he couldn't bear to ignore him and ignore him. Seeing Li Bai turning around to go out, he stood up and shouted: "Wait a minute, who are you? How dare you talk nonsense in front of me!"
Li Bai turned around and said:
The beans are under the roots of the mountain, the moon hangs in the sky, and there is no wood when gathering firewood. The king is one family.
After saying that, he untied his donkey, mounted it, and walked away.
Li Bai disappeared without a trace, and the county magistrate was still thinking about this poem.
The store owner knew in his heart that it was "unreasonable", but he pretended not to understand and let the county magistrate figure it out!
Du Fu
One day, Du Fu pestered his aunt to tell stories again. My aunt said:
"Our Du family has produced many famous people. The famous general Du Yu of the Jin Dynasty (for his story, please see the 12th episode of this book) is our thirteenth generation ancestor. He was brave in war. He has made great contributions to the court. The people even made up songs to praise him!"
"It's amazing!" Du Fu said with a thumbs up.
"Your grandfather (Du Shenyan) is a famous poet. The poems he wrote were rewarded by the emperor, and people praised him as a talented man."
These stories gave Du Fu Very encouraging. He studied hard and practiced hard. When he was seven years old, he wrote his first poem "Ode to the Phoenix". One day, he showed his father an article he had written, and two guests happened to be visiting. They also looked interested.
"Such a masterpiece, it looks like it was written by Ban Gu and Yang Xiong (both famous writers in the Han Dynasty)!" the guests said after reading it.
From then on, these two guests often praised Du Fu to people and took him to the homes of people who were proficient in music to listen to the wonderful music of Li Guinian, a famous court musician at the time. This had a great impact on him. Du Fu paid great attention to technique when writing poems throughout his life, and he would never stop writing poems if they were not surprising.
One day, Du Fu said to his wife:
"I heard that the old emperor went to Shu and the prince ascended the throne. I plan to go to his place to serve the country." < /p>
In the early morning of the next day, Du Fu hit the road. He didn't go far before he was captured by the rebels. The rebels took him to Chang'an. Seeing that he was a gray-haired scholar, they interrogated him and released him, but they did not let him leave Chang'an.
Du Fu could only wander in Chang'an. In just a few months, this majestic capital city has completely changed. Some of the palaces of emperors and residences of princes in the past were reduced to piles of broken bricks and rubble, and some were filled with rebels. Bodies were strewn across the street, and from time to time, groups of rebel cavalry would pass by in a majestic manner, raising dust and mist all over the sky.
Du Fu saw this tragic scene with his own eyes and worried about the future of the country. During his stay in Chang'an, he wrote many excellent poems, and "Spring Outlook" is one of them:
The country is broken by mountains and rivers, and the city is full of spring vegetation. The flowers shed tears when I feel grateful, and the birds are frightened by the hatred.
The war rages on for three months, and a letter from home is worth ten thousand gold. The white-headed scratches are shorter, and the hairpin is full of lust.

The artistic superiority of Li Bai and Du Fu’s poetry has been an enduring topic since the Tang Dynasty.
For more than a thousand years, there has been an endless stream of good people. In fact, this is completely troublesome, and it is indeed a problem. Even without personal likes and dislikes, it is difficult to judge people with extraordinary academic ability.
Taibai Du Fu was born in the era of brilliant stars in Tang poetry. Wang Wei Gaoshi and Taibai were born in the same year, and Du Fu was about 10 years old. At this time, the poets were as bright as the stars, with various styles and techniques. Li Bai and Du Fu are the real leaders among them.
Taibai was a poet with great political ambitions. He called himself Dapeng and named himself Qinglian. A man who is ambitious and strives for fame. He has great pride in taking the world as his own responsibility. When he was 30 years old, he wrote "A Letter to Han Jingzhou", which included the sentence "I don't want to be a marquis of ten thousand households in my life, but I hope to get to know Han Jingzhou once." This article has always been praised, but it is also often criticized. This article can simply be seen as a declaration that Taibai was born. Unfortunately, this declaration is really not beautiful. It is completely different from the image of "relegating immortals" to people, and it is also not like the later kind of high scholars who "can flatter their eyebrows and bend their waists to serve the powerful". Like some frontier poems in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, hoping to make achievements and serve the king is also a proactive act, which is understandable in itself. He yearned for someone like Guan Zhong and Xie An who could assist the court, but in fact Taibai's talent was only in poetry. If he were allowed to go to the Jinglun state, he would probably not be as good as Di Renjie and Zhang Jiuling. "Look up to the sky and laugh loudly and go out" is used when singing and drinking wildly. It is a good portrayal of the poet in being charming and unrestrained.
He was addicted to alcohol, learned swordsmanship, asked questions, sought immortality, admired chivalry, wandered around, and held prostitutes hostage throughout his life. When he was drunk, he caught the moon and ascended to the sky, completing his romantic life. All this, compared with the reality of cumbersome government affairs and practical benefits to the world and the people, is completely irrelevant.
In the third year of Tianbao, Taibai entered the palace and became an imperial scholar. This is related to the good poetry of Emperor Xuanzong at that time and the name of Taibai's poems. It would be too naive for Taibai to think that he could realize his political ambitions from now on. All the emperor wants is a jester. Three high-level palace poems of "Qing Ping Diao" and one song "Poor Feiyan Leaning on New Makeup" stimulated Concubine Yang, who was so greedy that she was "returned with a thousand gold coins". From then on, his political enthusiasm turned into resentment, and he began to travel around mountains and rivers to write poems. Although Taibai once again entered the temple during the Yongwang Rebellion, it was short-lived after all. This and Taibai's career were unfortunate, but it was an eternal blessing for Chinese literature. Many romantic and wonderful masterpieces in "The Collection of Li Taibai" were written in his later years. He no longer has the boldness and arrogance he had when he first came out of Shu, but he is more fresh and handsome.
Du Fu is a true Confucian, with the feelings of an ancient "scholar" who truly cares about the suffering of the people and is compassionate and compassionate. He was born into a family of eunuchs, and his grandfather was Du Shenyan, a famous poet in the early Tang Dynasty who wrote "The clouds return to the dawn, and the plum blossoms cross the spring river". However, there seems to be no trace of these in his poetry creation.
Looking at his life, he has been spending his time in tossing and tossing. He did not have the same sudden starting point as Taibai, nor did he have high political expectations. He has never been a big official in his life, and his life and experience are closer to the people. He was born more than 10 years later than Taibai, which was the turning point of the Tang Dynasty from prosperity to weakness. He experienced the Anshi Rebellion and suffered from separation, displacement, poverty and illness. His works are completely different from those of Taibai, which are ethereal and ethereal. "Three Officials and Three Farewells", "Northern Expedition" and "Qiang Village" are all filled with the suffering and desolation of life. In his later years, he could live a stable life in Chengdu under the care of his old friend Yan Wu. Some of his brighter works were also created in the "Huanhua Cottage". For example, "Two Huang Li sing green willows", "Four Huang's parents' house is full of flowers", etc. Throughout all his works, realism is the main thread. He is a truly hands-on poet who does not make any pretense. Guo Moruo's book "Li Bai and Du Fu" was written to cater to Mao Zedong's preference for Tang San Li and instead studied A Shi's style of works, which is not supported by evidence. But his inscription on "Huanhua Cottage", "The barbarians in the world are the sages in the poems; the sufferings of the people are the waves in the writings" is a very accurate evaluation of Du Fu.
It is also a very interesting topic to examine Li Du’s interactions. Du Fu presented 10 poems to Li Bai, many of which were full of both sound and emotion. Especially in the songs "Dream of Li Bai". For example, "The farewell in death is silent, but the farewell in life is always pitiful." "Everyone in the country wants to kill, but I only pity the talents." are all touching sentences. Li Bai didn't send many gifts to Du Fu. I remember the sentence "meeting Du Fu on the mountain top during the meal class, wearing a hat on his head at sunrise and afternoon". The two spend less time together and more time apart, and their relationship is sincere. Li Bai has a fairy spirit, and he feels that he is otherworldly. His poetry and friendship are very weak in family affection. This should not be demanding.
The article written here is a bit like "a doctor sells a donkey". How to evaluate Li Du's poetry art? Generally speaking, it seems that Li Bai is close to immortals and Du Fu is close to people. Xianyi is admirable, but too much fantasy. Look at him, he is unconstrained and talented. The clear words and beautiful sentences are endless. The imagination is strange and the romance is boundless. For thousands of years, it can be regarded as unprecedented. It is true that his poetry cannot be learned. Without such a broad mind, without such pride, one can only get its skin, but it is difficult to have its bones and muscles. Li Hedao in the late Tang Dynasty seems a bit like it, but it is very ghostly. Upon closer inspection, it is not the same thing. Wang Ling, a man from the Song Dynasty, was grand in style, but his grandeur was nothing more than style. He died early, but his style was different from Taibai's. Since the Song Dynasty, it has become worse than a crab. There are some who speak arrogant words, but few of them can express their talents and emotions, and their beautiful sentences are like the stars in the morning.
Du Shi’s poetry has the most complete rhythm. Shen Xiong's style is raw, full of emotion, rigorous in structure, and dangerous in rhyme, which is enough to scare people away. Many of his poems are indeed eternal masterpieces. For example, the seven-rhythm poem "Boundless Falling Wood under the Xiaoxiao" is considered "the crown of the seven rhymes of the Tang Dynasty". My favorite is the one of "Meeting You Again When the Flowers Fall", which is really breathtaking. . Many of his poems involving family affection, such as "Watching the Moon in the Boudoir", are also quite charming and touching. When reading his poems, sometimes I always feel that he is grimacing... The modern poet Lin Gengbai once said wildly that his poems were higher than those of Lao Du. I have his "Selected Poems of Li Bai Lou" at home. The poems are indeed good, but if he says they are better than Lao Du, only a ghost would believe him!
When I wrote "Poetry of the Late Tang Dynasty. Li Shangyin" in Qingyun, I wrote a limerick: The young man admires Taibai with high spirits, and the middle-aged man loves Wen Li. With beautiful hair on the temples, I listen to the rain in the monk's house, and when I am old, I read Yuanming's poems to my heart's content.
The first two sentences are probably realistic. But after reading Yuan Ming, it may be hypocritical. The collection of Tao is inherently thin, and there are only a few poems that can be recited repeatedly. Not to mention having no countryside to return to, it is enough to affect the popularity of poetry. I think that in my later years, I may like Lao Du more.
To say that Taibai's talent lies only in poetry is a conclusion drawn from a review of his life. As mentioned before, he was fond of drinking, learning swordsmanship, asking questions, seeking immortality, advocating chivalry, wandering, and seducing prostitutes, which ran through his life. This is a plain theory. Wang Anshi once said that Taibai's poems have "ten lines and nine lines for women to drink." This may be harsh, but it also shows the views of this outstanding politician in the Northern Song Dynasty on Li Shi. This actually reveals a tendency of Li Shi. . As for Brother Gui saying that Taibai learned "long and short skills" and "sword skills", in my opinion, this can only be regarded as wild fox Zen, and it is basically incompatible with governing the country and benefiting the people. There is no doubt that he is dissatisfied with being treated as a jester, but the reality leaves him with only two options: either wandering around the mountains and rivers, or serving the court. Economic management was not his specialty. It should be noted that even in the court, he was still drunk when he wrote "Qing Ping Tiao", and he only regained consciousness when others brushed his face with water. It is really unimaginable for a poet who is always drunk and hazy to ask him to immerse himself in court cases. Taibai can impress the ministers and let him be the minister, general and minister, but it is really difficult for him... The poet is his best choice, even though he is ten thousand reluctant.
As for Du Fu, he had no political ambitions and never thought about becoming a general or a prime minister. But those assumptions you made are indeed somewhat taken for granted. History is really a complicated thing. Any small factors will affect a person's life experience. It can be said that he lacks ability, and it can also be said that he has a bad fate.
It is a fact that Tao’s poems had a profound influence on Chinese intellectuals. The reason is related to the tradition of old-style literati
. When you are in the temple, you miss the wild scenery of the mountains and forests; when you are in the mountains and wilds, you can't help but miss the king. Politics are cold-blooded, while literati are sentimental. They are always the purges of politicians or the jesters of the emperor. There are only a few people who can truly be like Zhang Jiuling and Wang Anshi. We always think that our talents can help the world, but the reality is that we often suffer from greed, envy, exile, shelving, unrecognized talents, and full of complaints. After being frustrated, Ah Q's refuge was to retreat to the countryside. Master Tao, who did not give up for five buckets of rice, became their role model - this is the reason why Tao's poetry has had a profound influence for thousands of years. Unfortunately, today's society is far different from ancient times. It is really difficult to appreciate Tao's poems and be able to read out the "qi". I am not yet middle-aged, so it is difficult for me to understand the three flavors...
