Why can't monks get married?
Why monks can't get married: the requirements of precepts
Many people don't quite understand whether a monk is forbidden to get married. What do you think is the connection between marriage and becoming a monk? In addition, sex is human nature, abstinence should be a cruel thing.
In fact, it is reasonable not to allow monks to get married.
First, the dispute over world affairs itself runs counter to Buddhism. Here's a brief explanation. Buddhism talks about the six divisions in the karmic wheel, and the world's major disputes are the reasons why the six divisions in the karmic wheel cannot leave.
Second, pornography is more emotional. And emotional color is the biggest obstacle to leave the wheel of karma. So stay away.
Third, the persistence of family property and family members is also the reason for the six divisions in causal reincarnation. That is to say, I can't put it down in my heart. There are always these obstacles. It is also inseparable from the six divisions in the wheel of karma.
Fourth, and most importantly, it is impossible to make selfless dedication. We know that the truth explained by Sakyamuni Buddha is the truth of cosmic life, and everyone should follow it. This is the concrete action of life. That is selfless dedication. There is a saying called. That is, to be a teacher and a model? That is to say, since I am reasonable to everyone, I must do it first. So the Bodhisattva has a famous saying? May all beings be free from suffering and not seek happiness for themselves? But if you make selfless dedication, you will definitely infringe on the interests of your family and your wife and children. Although what I do is good, my behavior will certainly not be understood because my family is not a practitioner. Therefore, the monk is merciful. In order not to infringe on everyone's interests, only by not getting married can we do this well.
From the root, it is the embodiment of the basic teachings of Buddhism, and monks do not get married. Generally speaking, Buddhist teachings have four aspects, namely, bitter truths (about worldly sufferings), gathering truths (about the causes of sufferings), eliminating truths (about the elimination of sufferings) and Tao truths (about the methods of elimination). These four points are collectively called? Four truths? . The so-called bitterness is that people cling to the six divisions in the wheel of karma before they realize the Tao (Buddhism believes that all living beings rise and fall endlessly among heaven, man, Asura, hell, ghosts and animals). Therefore, the liberation pursued by Buddhists is to get rid of the fate of the six great divisions in the wheel of karma and achieve nirvana without love and anger. If marriage is a human nature clinging to the six doctrines, it is equal to being willing to sink into the suffering of the six doctrines, which is contrary to the basic teachings of Buddhism.
Why monks can't get married: Ning Xin
(1) They think that no one who studies Buddhism can get married. But I didn't know that Buddhists have four kinds of disciples: ① monks and ② at home. Monks and nuns are monks and nuns. They must absolutely abide by Buddhist precepts and cannot get married. However, the normal combination of a good man or a good woman and a couple at home is allowed by Buddhism, not forbidden. If it is forbidden, it is only forbidden, and they are not allowed to do indecent things except normal husband and wife relations. Since Buddhist disciples at home can get married openly, can't they have children like ordinary people who don't study Buddhism? In this way, the so-called problem that learning Buddhism can be extinct without marriage should not be a problem.
(2) They said:? Buddhism often says that being a monk is not tired, being a monk is clean and spotless. Being a monk is better than being at home. If so, who doesn't want to learn well? Everyone wants to learn well, everyone doesn't want to get married, and everyone wants to become a monk. If so, wouldn't it be extinct again? Where does this anxiety come from? Hypothetically? In a word, it is not in the Buddhist doctrine itself; Because of what you said, everyone goes to become a monk, which is justice? Hypothetically? That's all. Do you know that?/You know what? Hypothetically? Just? Hypothetically? It's not true, because in fact, I didn't see everyone become a monk; Visible? Hypothetically? And then what? The truth? , is not consistent. Like what? Hypothetically? You are a bandit, of course you will be arrested and sent to prison. Actually, you're not a bandit. How did you get arrested and sent to prison? So use it? Hypothetically? It is really unfair to add a charge to the word Buddhism.
(3) When people see that monks and nuns don't get married, they focus on monks and nuns and think it's strange that monks and nuns don't get married! So I forgot that besides monks and nuns, there are thousands of men and women in Qian Qian who don't get married. This is not my nonsense, but a social fact. If you don't believe me, please investigate. Unmarried men and women in Qian Qian will not become extinct, but a few monks and nuns with less than one in ten thousand say they will become extinct. Is this fair? If you remember it in the middle of the night, I'm afraid it's unfair, right? Smile.
Of course, a country wants its people to prosper. If it thinks it is unacceptable not to get married and will become extinct, why doesn't the state prohibit people from becoming monks? Even if you are allowed to become a monk, you still don't force them to get married? Since the state does not prohibit people from becoming monks, it can be seen that a small number of monks and nuns do not get married, which will not affect the survival of the race. Moreover, not only Buddhist monks and nuns do not get married, but also Catholic bishops, priests and monks and nuns do not get married. Why haven't you heard that they are extinct? Besides, Buddhism has spread to China for more than two thousand years. During this long period, some monks and nuns lived in Buddhism, but they didn't see the genocide in China. Now Ceylon, Myanmar, Siam, Annan, etc. All are Buddhist countries, all have monks and nuns, and none of them are extinct. Therefore, it goes without saying that monks and nuns will become extinct if they don't get married.
Please think it over. Now, which country's law stipulates that men and women in the country should be paired one by one, leaving no one missing? In fact, we can't do this step, so we have to let the people get married freely. Otherwise, we are forced to combine, and when we have children, isn't the government going to bear the living expenses and education expenses of their children? This is too much trouble, don't you think?
(6) I will tell another joke: it is inevitable not to get married and not have children; But getting married doesn't necessarily mean having children. Look at those people who have been married for many years, still have three wives and four concubines, but still have no children. What can you do? Can we punish them by law? Why not have children for the country? You know, he (she) really has no choice! Marriage can't guarantee children, just listen to their reproductive freedom, and you can't come reluctantly.
(7) Buddhist monks and nuns become monks, and it is not the state, family or anyone who forces them to become monks. This is entirely their own will. Buddhists voluntarily become monks, just like ordinary men and women who hold celibacy in ordinary society, it is entirely their own joy without any compulsion. Since they are willing not to get married and observe the precepts of becoming a monk, they should respect their wishes. If they want to get married, why should they become monks? Because at home, you can believe in Buddhism and learn from it. Understand this meaning, then all the puzzles will be solved naturally.
(8) In the general idea, the more children, the better; In fact, all countries, especially Britain, are advocating birth control, which is also a fact, and everyone knows it. Otherwise, the population is too large and the output is not enough. For example, Japan and Britain in the past, and the Soviet Union now, although it is said to be for the economy, it is for the population. How can life be dominated by such population growth year after year without opening up the colonies? Therefore, it is also true that monks and nuns do not get married, which will not only affect the country, but also adjust their lives. All the above statements are based on the sense of the world, and I know a little about the reasons why monks and nuns don't get married. If you want to go further, you have to talk about monks and nuns themselves.
(9) The will of monks and nuns is purity. Think about it: once married, sexual intercourse between men and women is generally considered to be a very common thing, but in the eyes of people who love cleanliness, it is really indescribable, and everyone knows it. Who wants to do such a dirty thing? Especially the baby's shit, it is even more impossible to smell it.
(10) The will of monks and nuns loves silence. Look at a secular family and give birth to their children. The crying, noise and snoring are really unbearable for quiet people, although they usually don't think much. Not only quiet people will do this, in fact, families with many children sometimes complain, but there is no way! How can a quiet person get married casually and ask for trouble?
(1 1) The life of monks and nuns is very simple. If you get married, you can't make your own decisions. What decorations, cosmetics, entertainment expenses, travel expenses, communication expenses; After giving birth to children, they have to pay for the upbringing, education and marriage of men and women when they grow up. With so many families, it is inevitable that they will not get sick and have to pay for medical expenses. Therefore, people in the world, except those who are a little richer, are suffering a lot.
(12) Monks and nuns abstain from greed at heart. People want to be officials, but monks and nuns have no idea; People want to get rich, but monks and nuns have no money to earn; People can wear all kinds of gorgeous clothes, but monks and nuns can't; People can munch their wine and meat, but monks and nuns can't. I live in a temple where I don't rent a house, eat cabbage roots and wear rags. Once married, you can't live this indifferent monk and nun life under any circumstances.
(13) monks and nuns have rules that monks and nuns should abide by. For example, the school has school rules. Of course he won't ask you if you don't go to this school to study. If you want to study in this school, you must abide by the school rules. You can't ask him why. He can answer you: this is our school rule. Who told you to come in and study? Are there any students who don't obey the school rules? The same is true of the army, which has military discipline. For example, brothers can't bring their families. You can't say: Why can your officers take care of their families and why can't we? There is no reason to say so, so we have to do it according to his military discipline. Understand this truth, don't drink, don't smoke, don't eat meat, don't go to the theatre, don't gamble, don't get married. These are the differences between us monks and nuns and ordinary people, and they are the special teachings of Buddhism to Buddhists. You can only keep the status quo, and you can't ask why.
