I have been learning guitar for more than a year, and I taught myself. Maybe it's a bottleneck. Who can give me some advice? What should I practice? Or read any books? For better improvement?
How to break through the bottleneck stage of playing guitar
1, most guitar lovers are exposed to popular music in China at the initial stage of learning piano. This kind of music is very narrow, regardless of its artistic value for the time being, just look at their accompaniment skills and harmony arrangement ideas:
Accompaniment rhythm: For example, in the class of Guitar Club, we listed about 10 "decomposition rhythm" and 10 "sweeping rhythm" in the form of teaching, and once joked that "these 20 accompaniment rhythms can definitely play 95% of popular songs in China." Although it was a joke during the lecture without strict statistical analysis, it was true on the whole.
Harmony arrangement idea: No matter whether people have a good sense of music or not, they always feel that many popular songs they have heard seem to be similar. Although the lyrics and melody are completely different, the overall feeling is always deja vu. In fact, an important reason for this situation is that the harmony arrangement of most popular songs is basically the same. For example, when we play the guitar, we often encounter a song "c-g-f-c" or "c-em-am-f-c-g-c" or "am". Although this is not wrong from the point of view of composition, because these harmonies are all good, even the third example is completely connected according to the "four-degree relationship" This kind of harmonic progression is certainly good in harmony theory, giving people a harmonious and good sense of hearing, but as a guitarist and instrument learner, we can't limit ourselves to these so-called "good" things. Art is a kind of thing without absolutely correct theory, and people's feelings are also very complicated, so it is difficult to summarize them by laws. Many times, some subversive theories that break the routine and unconventional arrangement among the defenders of classical theories have a very shocking impact on our hearing.
From the perspective of guitar playing and singing, when you play a lot of music and feel bored, you might as well make a new attempt from the rhythm and chord connection. There will be great gains! For example, try to modify various basic rhythm patterns and mix them into new rhythm patterns. Another example is to change one or two chords of a familiar song and replace some uncommon chords or even "illegal" chords. Are all good choices.
Long-term, a lot of attempts to do these two aspects, I believe you will have a qualitative improvement in playing and singing skills!
2. Blindly complacent, I feel that I have "learned" everything I have played, which is boring. Analysis: This is the most dangerous problem, but it is also the most common one. I'll give you some common examples from several very basic aspects, and you can compare them to see if this is really the case.
Mastery of basic chords: The basic chords mentioned here refer to the basic chords at all levels in the commonly used keys of the guitar, such as C, D, E, F, G, A, bB, etc. Such as C, C9, D, D7, Dm, Dm7, E, E7, Em, Em7, F, F-7, Fm, G, G7, Am, Am7, etc. For example, in G, A, Am, Bm, Bm7, B7, C, C, D, D7, D and so on. Have you memorized all these most commonly used and basic chords? Maybe you are familiar with guitar music and you can pop it up immediately, but if I only tell you a chord name, can you press the chord immediately for one second? If you can, congratulations, at least you have mastered the most basic needs of guitar playing and singing! Think again, modern music is based on the "twelve-average law", so have you memorized all the common chords of these ten sounds? Note: Even if you have memorized all the basic chords of all these keys, I can only say that you have already started. . . . . .
Mastery of basic playing skills: hook, stroke, slide, rub, beat, natural overtone and artificial overtone. . . . . . Have you mastered all these basic skills? How to avoid touching adjacent strings when hooking strings, whether striking strings can make a loud sound, whether sliding strings can quickly slide to the specified level, how many kinds of string kneading methods, whether the strings can be kneaded rhythmically according to the rhythm of songs, whether the strings are clean and powerful, whether the fingers of the right hand can be stuck in the gaps of the strings, how many natural overtones are distributed on folk guitars, whether the overtones in different positions can be played neatly, and whether the strings can be manually overtoned. . . . . . Have you mastered all these questions? If you have mastered it all, congratulations! At least I can tell you that you are at least qualified to shine everywhere. Ha ha. But let me ask you another question: If you close your eyes, can your left hand play these things accurately? . . . . .
Chord conversion and right-hand control: this is a problem often mentioned by guitar clubs. No matter how long and fast I play, 90% guitarists I have met dare not say how awesome they are as long as I ask this question. We just need to look at the transformation of the first three chords in the simplest guitar learning. Pick up your guitar, play the F chord and switch to the C chord. Rhythm is the first rhythm "5323 1323" that beginners learn, and the speed is roughly set at a very slow speed-80 beats per minute. Then you check it carefully. After playing the last note of the F chord and turning to the C chord, let's play the third string with our right hand for the last time to hear if your third string is really played. If you think it's easy, try opening the Am chord and turning to the g chord with the third fret. Is it still so easy? If you still feel relaxed, you can change the decomposition rhythm of your right hand to the sweeping rhythm. Listen to it again. When you switch the next chord, do you really use a chord to sweep the last chord of the previous chord, instead of the "critical vacuum" state in the middle when switching chords (that is, the hand is released and the string is empty)?
Then the right hand controls. No matter which string it is, is your right hand still doing any "full-scale sweeping"? Or have you been unswervingly only sweeping the following four strings? If you think all the above questions are all right, it's time to re-examine your right-hand strumming consciousness! Note: it's consciousness! Music is the art of feeling, and we express these different feelings through careful playing with keen consciousness. First of all, it should be clear that the pitch of the six strings of a guitar is from high to low, while the brightness of the treble and the calmness of the bass obviously give people different feelings. Then we must try to sweep the strings in different areas when we sweep the strings. For example, press an Am chord, hold a pick in your right hand, and play a fixed rhythm pattern on the 654th string, the 54th string, the 3rd string, the 432nd string and the 32nd1string respectively, so as to realize the difference of playing effect in different regions. Of course, this three-string, three-string geographical division is just one kind. You can try the division of two strings and four strings. Remember the sound effects of these different areas, and then practice in actual performance.
There are many details, such as different effects of different strokes, different effects of different strokes in broken strings, different effects of hitting and hooking strings, and so on. Have you mastered all this?
We must correct the misconception that the master has high speed and skill! A real master is someone who can skillfully express the most basic things to the details!
Overcome this writing problem, I believe your guitar level will be greatly improved again.
