Yanzhou belongs to Jining City, Shandong Province. Yanzhou is not called Yanzhou City, but Yanzhou District. Jining City has two municipal districts under its jurisdiction, namely Rencheng District and Yanzhou District. In April 1984, Yanzhou County was affiliated to Jining City and administered 13 districts (towns), 35 townships, six street offices, and five a residents committee. On August 1, 1992, the county was removed and a city was established, and Yanzhou County was renamed Yanzhou City. On August 17, 2005, with the consent of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, Yanzhou City placed six villages in Huangtun Town, including Dongdaoying, Xidaoying, Yangchang, Dongzhangzhuang, Laofuzhuang, and Jinjia Village, under the new Yanzhou Town jurisdiction.
