Why is Golden Winged Dapeng the most overrated monster in The Journey to the West?

I've seen many monster rankings in Journey to the West, ranking them from low to high according to their severity. A strange phenomenon can be found in these rankings, and most of them rank Dapeng, a monster with golden wings, in the first place. So, is Golden Wing Dapeng really as powerful as the people on the list? In fact, I personally think this is wrong. As far as force is concerned, Dapeng is no match for the Monkey King. The reason for this phenomenon is that it is greatly influenced by TV dramas, but it is not well connected with the original works. Compared with all aspects of the original work, Golden Winged Dapeng is not the most powerful monster in The Journey to the West.

The fact that Golden Wings Dapeng plans to rob the Tang Priest with monsters such as green lions and white elephants is enough to reflect some problems. If Dapeng is very strong, why do you need two more helpers? Obviously, Dapeng is not absolutely sure to defeat the Monkey King. Moreover, it is clearly written in the original work that Dapeng's purpose in finding the green lion and white elephant is to be unsure of his own strength, fearing that he is no match for the Monkey King. More interestingly, among the three monsters, Dapeng with golden wings, Green Lion and White Elephant, Dapeng only ranks third. If Dapeng is strong, why is it only ranked third? From the above analysis, it can be concluded that Dapeng is not the strongest, but it is equally tied with the Monkey King.

In the original book, Dapeng has a magical skill, that is, he is very fast, which most people can't catch, at least the Monkey King can't. So the Monkey King had no choice but to ask for help. In that case, why do most people think Dapeng is the most powerful monster? Just because Dapeng has a strong background. Throughout the journey to the west, the Tathagata is the ceiling of strength and invincible in the world. Dapeng has a special status. He is Tathagata's uncle. The so-called beating a dog depends on the owner. It is precisely because of Tathagata that Dapeng is the strongest monster in most people's eyes.

In fact, it's not how powerful Dapeng is, but that all the immortals are afraid to surrender to Dapeng. If the Tathagata loses face, they can only turn a blind eye. A detail in the play can also prove this point. Dapeng swallowed the whole country, and no fairy dared to stop it. Or the Monkey King found Tathagata, who explained his relationship with Dapeng to the Monkey King.

Dapeng is not very strong in strength, but he is strong because he is a veritable national relative, so it is reasonable to go by Tathagata himself.

Therefore, Dapeng belongs to a monster whose strength and reputation are seriously inconsistent among many monsters.
