Cao Yan

"Senior Teacher" of Yuanping Special Education School

Cao Yan is a "senior teacher" in Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School. Engaged in special education for 29 years after graduation.

Caoyan University is a deaf-mute education major, and it was a coincidence to choose this major at that time.

When I was in primary school, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Cao Yan and her classmates once went to the Martyrs Cemetery to sweep the graves, and met a group of children who swept the graves like her.

They don't talk together, they all communicate in sign language.

Cao Yan's teacher told her that they are deaf-mute children, who can't speak and only sign language.

This contact is also the first time that Cao Yan knows that deaf-mute teachers communicate with such children in sign language.

Perhaps because of her peers, Cao Yan felt a little pity for the children, and it would be meaningful to help them.

In the college entrance examination, Cao Yan chose the deaf-mute education major of Nanjing Special Education Normal School.

Cao Yan's character is that she likes singing, dancing and sports since childhood. Isn't it appropriate to be with blind children every day? Cao Yan also has doubts in his heart. But I didn't think so much.

Since choosing special education, Cao Yan has never stopped and has no intention of stopping.

He graduated from 1989. At that time, there was no Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School in Shenzhen. Cao Yanxian returned to xi 'an, Shaanxi, and worked in Xi 'an School for the Blind and Deaf.

199 1 year, Shenzhen began to organize Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School, and Cao Yan was transferred from Xi 'an to organize the school.

1992 The school officially opened after its completion.

The first class begins, and there are two classes, the hearing-impaired class and the mentally retarded class. A class is about 10 people. Cao Yan is the head teacher of the hearing-impaired class.

It can be said that in 1992 and 1993, the deaf-mute education in Shenzhen was only a small-scale experiment, and it was not until 1 September 19941that the school recruited students on a large scale.

From the first two classes, hearing-impaired classes and mentally retarded classes, to classes with mental retardation, cerebral palsy and autism, and then to 88 classes now.

Now the school is divided into four teaching departments:

One is the teaching department of hearing and visual impairment education. The teaching department of hearing-impaired education is mainly hearing-impaired children and visually impaired children.

The second is the teaching department of mental retardation education. The teaching department of mentally retarded education is a simple mentally retarded child, and there are some children with mild autism.

The third big piece is rehabilitation department. Rehabilitation is mainly for students with autism and cerebral palsy.

The fourth is the teaching department of vocational education. Vocational education covers the above five types of students, and they can reach the vocational high school stage during their study.

Hearing-impaired children may have higher academic requirements for them. They will eventually take the college entrance examination and even go to higher institutions to study in order to enjoy a better life in the future.

The curriculum of mentally retarded children is very different from that of ordinary children, such as life language, life mathematics, life adaptation and so on. Children with mental retardation pay more attention to communication with others.

For children with mild mental retardation, cerebral palsy and autism, after rehabilitation through basic teaching, they should learn certain labor skills and improve their employability, so that they can stand on their own feet when they leave campus and take up jobs in the future.

For some children with severe mental retardation, the focus is on rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation and functional rehabilitation, and then cultivate their good self-care ability so that they can better integrate into society in the future.

Because of these children's various physical obstacles, Cao Yan and other colleagues in the school have never relaxed.

Everyone sticks to their posts, and logistics service personnel such as teachers and life managers in teaching posts monitor the status of these children 24 hours a day.

The docking of each link is carried out according to the time and signature, and there will be strict handover procedures every day.

For example, a life teacher leads children to have breakfast together in the morning.

At that time, the teaching management teacher will hand over the children in the class from the life teacher, sign and register through these procedures, and take the children to the teaching area for teaching activities.

Although some children have hearing impairment, their inner world is particularly rich, their requirements for themselves are particularly high, and their self-esteem is particularly strong.

Once a reporter came to Cao Yanban for an interview. A hearing-impaired child in the class greeted the reporter. The reporter smiled out of curiosity and the child knew that the reporter was laughing at him.

At that time, he ran to the bathroom in a rage and locked the door.

Cao Yan patiently persuaded by sending a note, and even said "malicious words" before persuasion.

Faced with these special students, teachers are under great pressure. It can be said that their nerves are very nervous from Monday to Friday. Cao Yanlian always keeps her mobile phone beside her when she sleeps, so as to keep abreast of the students' situation.

With the development of the times, education is more and more comprehensive, and barrier-free facilities are gradually upgraded.

What needs to keep pace with the times is that we should treat these special groups with an inclusive attitude and actively help them get convenience in society.

After all, when they came to this world, God had been unfair to them once, and this mistake needs us to make up together.

Special education teachers help these special students build their life skills and repair their hearts. Society also needs to treat them with a correct attitude and treat them as one of us and ordinary people.
