Scholars are the specialty of Jiangnan area. For Shaoxing, which is the hometown of celebrities in Jianhu and Yuetai, the richness of literati's specialties is self-evident. I think there are two kinds of Shaoxing literati, Xu Wei and Lu Xun, who are shy and spicy, laughing and cursing like thorns and hating like spears; The other kind, such as Zhang Dai and Zhou Zuoren, are peaceful and broad-minded, and they all learn customs and geography, especially gossip proverbs. Of course, Zhao Chang's name can't be compared with the above two categories, but Zhao Chang's articles combine the verve of the two categories, the fluency of knowledge and wisdom, and the steadiness and broadness of poetry and passion.

I have known Zhao Chang for a long time and have been thinking about the reasons. One of the reasons is that I think it has something to do with Shangyu, the hometown where Zhao Chang has been living.

Shangyu has belonged to Shaoxing since the ancient Yue State in Gou Jian's time, but Shangyu is very different from the other four counties in Shaoxing, that is, it has a coastline of more than 100, that is, it is the only county (city) in Shaoxing that faces the sea. Although it has been nearly a hundred years since the real spread of marine culture in China, for a coastal county (city) where the ebb and flow of tides can be seen every day, this embellished spread is silent and subtle, and footnotes and marks can be found on many levels. Such footnotes and marks are embodied in the cultural figures who lead the trend, especially in Zhao Chang. An obvious feature is that they are good at tolerance and absorption. Based on the meticulous inheritance and enthusiastic exploration of local culture, Zhao Chang, a scholar, actively absorbed and integrated the genes of openness and fashion of marine culture, so that its history was thick and modern thinking was integrated, and its traditional values were integrated with contemporary aesthetics. As a result, Zhao Chang showed his unique personality and characteristics among many literati in Shangyu, Shaoxing and even Jiangnan.

There are two main types of Zhao Chang's articles, one is speeches and essays, and the other is essays and essays. This often leaves people with the impression that Zhao Chang can draw a bow and double guns as Lu Wenlong. In fact, Zhao Chang's remarks and essays are really well written. I remember the year before last, People's Daily and People's Forum, the most famous media columns in China, published three essays by Zhao Chang in succession. It is brilliant that a county-level author can have such an honor. Zhao Chang can become the vice president of Zhejiang Prose Society, and the success of prose can also be seen. But frankly, I prefer Zhao Chang's prose and essays to the two. Personal preference is one of them; Zhao Chang won Guo Moruo's Prose Essay Award and Youth Literature Creation Award, and the second place was excellent. The third and most important reason is that prose and essays can better reflect Zhao Chang's knowledge and thoughts, develop Zhao Chang's character and skill, and better publicize Zhao Chang's talent and characteristics as a literate person.

Zhao Chang's prose and essays have three obvious advantages:

First, the vision is broad. Although Yu has almost become a thing of the past, it goes without saying that in today's prose discourse, the "cultural prose" created is still optimistic. Most of Zhao Chang's essays belong to this category, which is also an important foothold for Zhao Chang to persist in the meticulous inheritance and enthusiastic exploration of local culture. Different from many cultural essays that focus on event deduction, detail reconstruction or textual research, and context fabrication, Zhao Chang prefers to look at a historical event and cultural figure in a broader era background; Set unique historical nodes and humanistic deposits, and examine them in a dynamic and pluralistic aesthetic magnetic field. That is to say, his cultural prose does not stick to the consideration and truth of one thing, one thing or detail, but focuses on combing and excavating the motives of the times, society and humanities behind the events or characters, and summarizing, thinking and promoting the macro factors such as phenomena, spirit and culture. Therefore, his cultural prose, with its broad vision, rich knowledge and unique expression content, is the best of its kind.

The second is emotional purity. At least 80% of the writers in China are regional writers. Most regional writers have an inevitable defect, that is, their deep love for the land under their feet. This is especially true for prose writers. Therefore, it is very important for a writer, especially an essayist, to grasp the emotion of the land under his feet and the emotion with universal aesthetic value. Although the two are not antagonistic, I think the former is only a perceptual and pure emotion, and it is a rational and pure emotion after refining or rising to the latter. This is an important support for a writer to rush out of the region and go to the whole country and even a wider field. One of Zhao Chang's successes lies in precisely doing this. In fact, as far as writing prose is concerned, Zhao Chang's level, language and skills are secondary. What is important is to consider and grasp the emotion, and more importantly, whether the emotion is pure or not. It is on this basis that Zhao Chang's prose is full of enthusiasm and philosophy, even if it is a jumble of ordinary themes such as recalling the past, local conditions and customs, and impressions and experiences.

The third is active thinking. It should be admitted that the increasingly intense speculative color has become an important symbol of the vitality of contemporary prose. Thinking is thought, thinking is knowledge, thinking is skill and height. I always think that the strong and active speculative color is the main reason why Zhao Chang's prose is impressive, and it is also the most outstanding place that he inherited the charm and essence of his predecessors Shaoxing literati. On the one hand, it benefits from Zhao Chang's diligence and tempering in speech and article writing, on the other hand, it also depends on Zhao Chang's accumulation and experience in reading thousands of books and traveling Wan Li Road. Especially the latter, let Zhao Chang see more benefits. Because of work, Zhao Chang has been to many places at home and abroad in recent years. Strange mountains and strange waters in different places, exotic customs and customs are reflected in the words, of course, which are pictures with different styles. The snooping, feeling and infiltration of different cultures, different humanities, different aesthetics and different values hidden behind the words provide Zhao Chang with a multi-perspective and multi-level space, from one-dimensional and one-way to multi-dimensional and three-dimensional

Zhao Chang has been a county-level propaganda minister for nearly ten years. Many people think that this is an important platform for Zhao Chang's successful writing, which I have always disagreed with. In the official mechanism of China, I think the county-level propaganda minister plays a very delicate role. One end is connected with the official class and the other is connected with the cultural circle. Inadvertently handled, it is easy to slide to both ends: either it is considered by the official class as an "alternative" among officials or it is regarded as a "cultural bureaucrat" by the cultural circle.
