Question: Is Goldbach's conjecture solved now?

1892, Maxwell, a British scientist, published Electromagnetism (the third edition), in which he raised the question of how many mirror point charges can be formed in a dielectric sphere and where they are located. This problem is called "Goldbach conjecture" in electromagnetic field. It is the dream of many electromagnetists to solve this unsolved problem for a hundred years.

After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Lin got the opportunity to study in the United States, and was successfully admitted to the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied under the electromagnetist Professor J.R.Whinnery, and became attached to his lifelong research work in microwave theory and technology.

195 1 year, his doctoral thesis "One-cavity Multimode Microwave Filter Theory" was published on the first page of the August issue of American Journal of Applied Physics. This paper breaks the long-standing view that "a cylindrical resonator can only use two degenerate modes" in the microwave field, causing a sensation. This is the starting point of his research on the "Goldbach conjecture" of electromagnetic fields. In the same year, Lin returned to Lingnan University from the United States to teach, and later participated in the establishment of Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering (now University of Electronic Science and Technology of China).

From 65438 to 0959, he published a paper "The Application of Green's Function in Calculating Partial Capacitance" in the American Journal of Physics, focusing on the calculation of a function of electrostatic point charge, and studied the point charge problem in a dielectric sphere proposed by Maxwell. But this achievement does not completely solve this problem. After more than ten years, he suffered a political shock and participated in labor reform, but he never gave up scientific research. In order to keep abreast of the international academic frontier trends, Lin also subscribed to foreign academic journals with his own salary.
