Pulp Fiction - an elaborate puzzle

Ever since I read a Douban film review titled "Why Vincent Died", my opinion of the movie Pulp Fiction is not just about "chaotic editing" and "absurd narrative" , I began to look for the mystery, just like after reading the answers to the problems solved by the top students, I started to think about this interesting topic myself.

In the first paragraph, a couple starts to rob a restaurant, and there are countless fucks in the dialogue.

In the second paragraph, Vincent and his black partner were going to deal with a group of people who had betrayed the boss. On the way, they started chatting about Mia, the girlfriend of the boss Martha. Someone gave Mia a foot massage, but the boss threw her downstairs and made her mute. This paragraph reflects the difference between Vincent and his black partner. The bottom line of the black partner is: foot massage is just foot massage. But for Vincent, 'foot massage' means more than just foot massage. Then, in the room of the person who betrayed the boss, Lao Hei mentioned that his girlfriend was a vegetarian, and he also became a vegetarian. This was also one of the manifestations of Lao Hei's bottom line. Even when the young black man rushed to answer the question, the old black man also said: I didn't ask you. Moreover, Lao Hei would read a passage from the Bible every time before killing someone.

In the third paragraph, the boss Martha and Butch were talking about boxing in the bar. Vincent and Lao Hei also came to the bar. When Vincent was talking to the bartender, he said that he would not touch the boss's girlfriend. At most, she would tell a few jokes, and then he would laugh along like a follower. Afterwards, Vincent and Butch met, and Vincent was very unfriendly. This was one of the causes of Vincent's death, not coincidentally, but because Vincent liked to take out his anger on others.

In the fourth paragraph, he bought drugs and showed how to take the drug, light it and inject it while Vincent was driving. Later, there was a scene of Mia taking drugs, but she was snorting it through her nose. A comparison of the two scenes shows how Mia took the wrong medicine.

In the fifth paragraph, while in the restaurant, Mia ordered a milkshake for $5. Vincent asked carefully if alcohol or anything was added to the recipe. Was he being stingy? No, the rolled cigarettes can be given to Mia, and the $1,500 worth of drugs can be bought on demand. Moreover, a gangster like this will never care about $5. What he was worried about was that something else was added to the milkshake, and he couldn't bear the responsibility. So when the milkshake arrived, he asked to try a sip and carefully removed the straw. When Mia said you could use a straw, he readily accepted. In addition, he took a sip and thought it tasted good and took another sip. This was one of the signs that Vincent had no bottom line. Later, he took off the straw when drinking Coke. I took this as a sign of lack of self-discipline. The chat continued, and they talked about the person who gave the foot massage. Mia told Vincent that it was a fake. At this time, Vincent should have breathed a sigh of relief. After the two went out to play, Vincent returned home and had a monologue in front of the mirror, telling himself not to have any inappropriate thoughts. But we can imagine that if Mia did not take the wrong medicine, Vincent and Mia would inevitably have a fight, because Vincent is a person who lacks a bottom line. After this shot, Vincent will definitely die. However, fortunately and unfortunately, due to his carelessness, Vincent left his coat to Mia, and Mia, just like what was given in the previous scene, used her nose to take drugs as usual. This is actually God saving him.

In the sixth paragraph, Vincent discovered Mia’s condition and hurriedly drove Mia to find Lance who was buying drugs. The scene was chaotic, but God still helped Vincent. The adrenaline needle was inserted, and Mia woke up immediately. This is connected with the previous scene, God has ruled out the death of Vincent from Mia.

At the end of this section, Vincent blew a kiss, which seemed to confirm that if Mia didn't take the wrong medicine, he and Mia would inevitably have a fight.

In the seventh paragraph, Butch's dream introduces the watch passed down from generation to generation by Butch's great-grandfather. His father and his father's friends hid it with Ass for seven years. This watch is of great significance. In the boxing match, Butch did not keep his promise and fell in the fifth round, but instead killed his opponent. Lao Hei did not accompany Vincent here. The reason why he did not accompany him will be explained in the subsequent plot. In the following plot, we can see that, in Lao Hei's words, Butch "fucked" Martha and made both ends of the money. Later, when they got home, Butch and his little girlfriend naturally had a sex session, or... a lot of sex.

In the eighth paragraph, Butch found out that his little girlfriend forgot to take out the watch. He was furious, but he quickly calmed down and told his little girlfriend that it was not her fault, it was because of him. I asked my girlfriend to bring too many things and I didn’t emphasize the importance of watches. On the way home, I finished losing my unfinished temper. Butch got home and easily got the watch. When he was about to make a simple meal, he found the gun on the table. Carelessness was one of the causes of Vincent's death, like when he put drugs in his shirt and Mia took them away. The film review on Douban pointed out that if it was someone else who came out, the probability of death is 99, which is reasonable, because there is a possibility of Butch being open-minded, but it is Vincent, and the meeting in the bar was not pleasant, and the probability of Vincent's death is 100 .

In the ninth paragraph, Butch happened to meet Martha on the way to find his girlfriend. By mistake, the two were kidnapped by a pair of perverted sadists. After Martha was taken to the back of Indescribable, Butch broke free from the rope and rescued Martha. Martha naturally let go of Butch who saved him. Butch drove away one of the perverted Harleys and picked up his little girlfriend. (I have to say that this movie is still very biased towards Butch and his little girlfriend.)

In the tenth paragraph, time goes back to the second paragraph, where Lao Hei and Vincent deal with the betrayal of Martha again. In the room where the group of people were staying, there was a young man holding a gun behind the door. After reading that passage from the Bible, Lao Hei shot the man in the chair. The young man from behind the room rushed out and fired several shots. Lao Hei and Vincent were found safe. This was actually the first time God saved Vincent. Lao Hei was shocked and thought this was God's will. And Vincent squatted down and asked the young black man: "Did you forget that there was a person in the toilet?" This also reflects Vincent's character of being angry with others.

In the eleventh paragraph, Lao Hei and Vincent drove back and took the young black man with them. On the way, the two were still discussing miracles. On the way, Lao Hei decided to quit. Vincent went back to talk to the young black man about the matter, but shot him in the head. I observed from the camera that Vincent pulled the trigger with one movement of his finger, but he said it was an accident, the car was unstable, or it misfired. When taking refuge in the old black friend's house, washing the blood stains also illustrates Vincent's character traits. Lao Hei called Martha, and Martha sent Wolf to handle the matter. The plot shows Wolf's delicacy and speed, and Wolf's action of praising Jimmy's coffee also shows this. Compared with Lao Hei's praise, the judgment is clear. After Wolf finished guiding the work, Vincent asked Wolf to say Please, which is also Vincent's character. Wolf takes care of things. Vincent said he was hungry and wanted to eat something, so he came to the twelfth paragraph naturally. This can be seen as God saving Vincent again, but this time it is more like human affairs than destiny.

In the twelfth paragraph, connected end to end, the two happened to arrive at the restaurant where the young couple who robbed them were at the beginning. The two chatted and argued every day, and the issue of food came up.

Lao Hei said that he would not eat pork because he believed that pigs were unclean, but Vincent would eat pork as long as he thought it was delicious, which echoed with drinking milkshakes and also caused his constipation. During this period, Vincent was talking about how to eat pork. Go to the toilet. He came out of the toilet, and because of constipation, people robbed him of everything in the toilet. This also echoes being shot to death by Butch after he came out of the toilet. During the dramatic robbery, Lao Hei looked calm. The subsequent confrontation and so on were all very exciting. From the slightly trembling hands of the robbery boy, perhaps Lao Hei could tell that he was a novice. He grabbed the young man's gun, restrained him, and asked him to find Lao Hei's wallet and take out the money, no more, no less, just 1,500 knives, and almost bought Mia and the 500 knives per gram that Vincent used to buy. The 3 grams of drugs that Vincent died of are in stark contrast.

At the end of this paragraph, Lao Hei and Vincent walked out of the restaurant, and everyone looked at them sideways, not knowing whether it was because of fear or a kind of god-like awe for Lao Hei.

To summarize according to the timeline, Vincent did not die from the black man hiding behind the door at the beginning, nor did he get into more trouble with a headshot. Mia was saved by sheer luck, but God Not wanting to save Vincent all the time, Butch doesn't have many scenes, but in his few scenes, Vincent laid the foundation for his own death in just ten seconds. Although God does not want to save the same person all the time, he also has the feeling of saving all sentient beings. After Butch killed Vincent, once Martha found out, it was impossible to let Butch go, but Butch met Martha and saved Martha. One life, so it would be unnecessary to hunt down the savior because of a younger brother.

Everything seems to be arranged by fate, but there is also hidden cause and effect.
