The legend of Mount Santai

Santai Mountain has been affiliated to Zhengjia Village since ancient times. The sunny side of the mountain has a gentle slope. The only uphill road goes from the mountainside through the mountain gate - Nantianmen to Shantou; the mountain is steep, with cliffs and smoky fog. horizontal. There is a spring on the mountainside called Tianchi. The spring is crystal clear, cool and sweet. The original temple on the mountain was a grand sight with a constant flow of pilgrims, but it later suffered a disaster and was destroyed. On a platform on the west side of the mountain, there is a boulder shaped like an eagle's head and two ruined houses; on a large bluestone platform on the south side, there is a stone mortar for pounding rice. In the past, mountain guards lived here for many years.

According to legend, Santai Mountain was originally called Wangmu Village. Li Shouyuan, a poor man from Zhengjia Village, led his two sons to open up wasteland in the mountain. One son was named Li Qian and the other was named Li Wan. Wang Peijun, a descendant of the town, opened up wasteland and farmed land on Mengliangtai (the name of the top of a mountain, it is said that the souls of Meng Jiangnu and Fan Qiliang ascended to heaven from here) opposite Santai Mountain Village. After being introduced, Li Shouyuan married his daughter to Wang Peijun. Because of the coincidence of the person's name and his work, the villagers joked about it at that time, saying that Li Shouyuan led tens of thousands of troops to fight against Wangmu Village, and recruited Wang Pei's army to fight against Meng Liangtai. The joke became more and more bizarre, and spread more and more widely. It even spread to the capital. The people in power were shocked when they heard the news. They thought that Li was stationing troops to rebel and seize power in an uprising, so they sent people down to investigate and prepare to severely suppress it. As soon as it turned out, it turned out to be a big joke played by the locals, and the false alarm was put to rest.
