An overview of Anyang dialect

Anyang dialect is unique in Henan dialect, which does not belong to Central Plains Mandarin, but a branch of Jin dialect. This can be seen from the map of Chinese dialects in China.

Jin dialect is used in most parts of Shanxi, as well as in northern Shaanxi, western Hebei, northwestern Henan and Hetao area of Inner Mongolia, with Taiyuan dialect as the representative. People who can understand Central Plains Mandarin may not be able to understand Anyang dialect, so they speak fast. Even people in the Central Plains Mandarin area of Henan Province find it difficult to understand Anyang dialect.
