Feiyun Tower, known as "the first wooden building in China", why are few people aware of it?

There are many county-level administrative units in China, and each county has its own unique characteristics. This county town in Shanxi Province, seemingly unknown and low-key, is the "hometown of jokes" of the whole country, and the first wooden building in China. Not only that, this county also has a large number of cultural relics and historic sites, and it is a mysterious small county that is little known but rich in tourism resources.

This county is located in Wanrong County under the jurisdiction of Yuncheng City in the southwest of Shanxi Province. Wanrong County is located on the east bank of the Yellow River, where Fenhe River meets the Yellow River. Wanrong County is adjacent to hancheng city, Shaanxi Province in the west, and Nanping Gufeng Mountain is connected with Linyi County and Salt Lake District. The Wangji Mountain in the east is connected with wenxi county, and the terraced fields in Emei in the north are adjacent to Hejin City. Wanrong County has a long history and is one of the important birthplaces of the Chinese nation. However, Wanrong's history as a county name is not long, which originated from the merger of Wanquan and Rong counties in 1954. As a remote inland county, how can Wanrong County be called "the hometown of jokes"?

In ancient China, there were many famous buildings, such as Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower, Wangtengting and Stork Tower. It's so famous. Why is it so famous? There is a famous poem in the back as an advertisement. Ha ha. For example, the Yellow Crane Tower is written by Cui Hao, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. A long time ago, a yellow crane carried a saint to heaven, and the Yellow Crane Tower here was empty. Later, there was a poet Li Bai, "An old friend stayed in the Yellow Crane Tower in the west, and fireworks went down to Yangzhou in March"; Yueyang Tower has The Story of Yueyang Tower written by Fan Zhongyan. Wang Bo, a great poet, wrote a preface to Deng, and the stork building is known as "climbing to the next floor with a broad vision of 300 miles".

However, many of these famous buildings that can be seen now are newly built in recent years. They are all reinforced concrete, and some are equipped with elevators. They are brand-new antique reinforced concrete buildings, which are completely out of touch with ancient buildings. The only thing that is old is the name.

It's just that it's hidden deep in a small county, and few people outside know it. But when it comes to Feiyun architecture, it is very famous in the circle of cultural relics and historic sites. Feiyun Tower and Yingxian Wooden Tower are called "South Tower and North Tower" together.

Feiyun Building is located in Dongyue Temple, Wanrong County, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province.

It is impossible to verify when this building was built, but it existed in the period of Emperor Taizong, and was later built by successive dynasties. The Feiyun Tower we see now was rebuilt in the 11th year of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1746). It has been more than 200 years now.
