Poet’s index finger

The real name of Shi Zhi is Guo Lusheng, who was born in 1948. During the "Cultural Revolution", he was persecuted for rescuing a teacher who was surrounded and beaten. In 1968, he joined the army in Shanxi. In 1970, he joined a factory as a worker. He joined the army in 1971 and was demobilized in 1973. He once worked at the Beijing Institute of Optoelectronics Technology. He suffered schizophrenia due to strong stimulation in the army and is still in a mental hospital.

Shizhi's early poems had an existential spirit that treated life "without illusions or despair" (although he may not have known this term at the time). Particularly worth mentioning is his "Mad Dog", which can be said to be a unique work in Chinese poetry. The philosophical depth of reflection on the ontology of existence is comparable to some of Dostoyevsky's works. It is undeniable that he also wrote some mediocre works, but as long as we consider that it was an era when a joke could lead to imprisonment, we should understand and even respect him.
