Xiangbie, Changsha dialect, means hillbilly.

Describing people's rusticity, the word "hometown" appeared in 1980' s, according to the analysis of "A Geographical Linguistic Study of Chinese Dialects from Changsha to Ningxiang, Hunan". At that time, the economy developed rapidly and the gap between urban and rural areas widened. Most citizens living in Changsha had better material conditions than rural people. Changsha dialect, namely Changsha dialect, belongs to the new Xiang dialect.
