If princes like Wu, whose surname is Ji, have the heart of ignoring the royal family of Zhou, what manners do other barbarians have for the royal family of Zhou?

From here, we can see that the representative of the barbarian country referred to by the central plains governors is Chu, and the behavior of Chu claiming the king without authorization has long been despised by the central plains governors. Why should Chu be king?

In Zhou Wenwang's time, the ancestors of the State of Chu served the King of Wen. When Zhou Chengwang acceded to the throne, he wanted to promote the hero of King Wen at that time. So Xiong Yi (great-grandson of Kuaixiong) was named Chu, viscount and surnamed Zhou.

At that time, Zhou Chengwang and the vassal States joined in Qiyang, and Zi Chu managed to be timid. Together with the Xianbei leaders, he was not qualified to join the vassal States, which shows the low status of Chu.

In a flash, in 74 BC1year, an ambitious man appeared on the stage of Chu. He is Xiong Tong from Chu Wuwang. Xiong Tong killed Mao Mao's son, his nephew, and seized the seal of the King of Chu. It is wrong to think that his ambition ends here.

As we all know, an extremely important event happened in the Central Plains at that time, that is, Zhou Pingwang moved eastward in 770 BC. Then, the Central Plains began to disintegrate. Zhuang Bo, Quwo of the State of Jin, killed the Duke of Jin, Zheng invaded the fields of the Zhou Emperor, wei ren killed them, Lu killed them, and Song Taizu killed Song Gong. More importantly, Zheng Zhuanggong's men shot King Huan of Zhou with arrows in the Battle of Gege.

Successive tragedies are constantly refreshing the bottom line of rites and music in the Central Plains and constantly stirring Xiong Tong's heart. Finally, he could no longer restrain his inner desire. In 706 BC (that is, 35 years after he ascended the throne), the State of Chu began to extend its claws to vassal states. It turns out that this vassal state is the vassal state of Marquis. Xiong Tong knew that Sui Hou had a high position, so he wanted to borrow his mouth to ask Zhou for a title. On the surface, he wants to clean up Zhou's door, but in fact, he wants to interfere in the affairs of the Central Plains in the future.

I couldn't help taking a message for him. Although the royal family of the Zhou Dynasty was declining, King Huan of Zhou was also an ambitious king. He doesn't even care about Zheng Zhuanggong. How can he talk to this boy Chu?

In 704 BC, Xiong Tongyue became more and more angry: "My ancestor Kuai Xiong served King Wen wholeheartedly and only gave it to the first Duke, Viscount Xiong Yi. Now barbarians are obedient, but King Huan of Zhou turns a blind eye! Since Zhou Wang is heartless, don't blame me for being rude. I call myself your title! " Therefore, Xiong Tongbian called himself King Wu.

From then on, Chu was king until its demise. In 585 BC, Shou Meng called himself King Wu, and then around the 5th century BC, Yun often called himself King Yue. On the other hand, if Shoumeng and Yun often don't claim the title of king, it's obviously crushed by Chu.

04 Confucius' attitude

However, the Three Kingdoms just live in their own dreams. Confucius made clear his attitude in the Spring and Autumn Annals, without mentioning Chu Wuwang at all. They were called "Zi Chu" even after the harmony of Chu began to intervene in the politics of the Central Plains. The same is true of Wu State and Yue State, both of which are called "Zi".

In fact, we can also see the titles of the old princes through the Central Plains Governors Alliance: Jin Hou, Song Gong, Lu Hou, Qi Hou, Wei Hou, Cao Bo, Ju Zi, Yan Zi, Teng Zi, Xue Bo, Qi Bo and so on.
